  • Thanks very much for the info on the flights. Booked flights to NYC in February for my new wifes Bday! But is there any chance of some help and advice looking for hotels. Everyone i have spoken to who has been to NY has NOT recommended their hotel! We are travelling to Newark and i understand the hotels in NJ are cheaper?

    Thanks in advamce.

  • Hi John,
I was in new york a few weeks ago and stayed at the hotel belvedere. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel. It has a good location and its very clean.
    Their website address is https://www.belvederehotelnyc.com
We also flew into Newark its about a 30 minute journey from the airport to the hotel. The taxi ride is about $60 with toll charges of approx $8.
    Anyway hope this helps.

I successfully booked my flights and the payment came out on my bank statement the other day. However, I have since experienced some dodgy happenings with my bank account and I would like to know if anyone has been charged a £1 overseas transaction fee for booking the flights? I don't recall paying in dollars, so I can't think why I'd be charged.

I don't think anyone has managed to get Virgin to price match on this deal.... always worth a try, but I suspect they're refusing as they're confident of filling their planes at their higher price on this route. LON to JFK is a popular, busy route.
  • I am planning a trip to the states

  • Hi there, I am first timer to this site and feeling really pleased that I registered for the alerts.

I can confirm that this morning I managed to book 2 return flights to N York with Delta for £160.40 per person. Total price I paid was £320.80 and also got to choose our seats at the same time. This was booked by dealing directy with Delta.

I had to play around with the dates to get the cheap price and the following dates were available: Jan 20th - 27th, Jan 27th - Feb 3rd and Feb 3rd 9th.

The flight was also non stop so better still leaving at 11 am in the morning.

I also checked the other sites mentioned to see if they were cheaper and they were appox £10 dearer.

Thank you Martin for your tips and I can not wait to go to New York.

I will also use your previous recommendations to find cheap hotel rooms and will email if I find a good deal.:T

    :hello: Hello Bresson,

    Welcome to posting on MSE.

Hope you have a fab time in New York.
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...
  • There are loads still avaible for the new year in Jan and Feb, tried same dates with opodu and there are exactly £10 per person more expensive so that cancels the discount out!
