Getting a dishwasher to make life easier?

I got rid of mine when we moved into this house as there wasn't the space for it - and I have regretted it every, single day since. With hindsight, I think I would have rather got rid of the husband!!! Such a shame, as we still have no room for one, or I would have got another one like a shot.
Brilliant piece of kit. Best invention ever.0 -
We got a second hand dishwasher when we moved house 2 years ago just before my DD was born. Me and my DH call it our "marriage saver" dishwasher as our little joke as washing up was literally the only thing we argued about. He would never wash up even when he would say he would, and I did all the cooking so felt it was unfair if I had to then wash up too. He now loads the dishwasher all the time (as he has his own little way of doing it, and say's I mess with hs system- fine by me!
)
I think you will love it. I don't notice much difference in our bills to be honest, and we have a 10 yr old whirlpool, fullsize dishwasher, that goes on once a day on average.0 -
I have had my Hotpoint dishwasher for 10yrs and its still going strong.. and its the best thing in my kitchen... I do wonder though if with so many in the house wether its worth getting one if you can only fit in a slimline version... its a pity you can't make room for a full size one...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

I am on to dishwasher number 3... I kill them with overuse!!
I had a hotpoint, a hoover and a bosch... I will never again have one that is NOT a bosch it has been absolutely wonderful.. I haven't washed a dish in 1 years!
I only ever really use the economy wash.. 25 minutes and I run the hottest wash programme once a month to clear the gunge from the pipes.. but it is one of the best things ever invented!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I have a slimline and it holds enough for 4. Wouldn't have enough dishes to keep them out of circulation for longer anyway. I've never put a wok in it but a large le creuset casserole fits ok.
Mine is a Zanussi, over 10 years old and one repair so far.0 -
Never wanted one of the things. Then I was given a secondhand one. I grumbled and moaned that it would take up too much space, cost too much money, was easier to wash up by hand, every barrier to accepting it, I came up with it.
When that gave up the ghost (about 4 years later, making it about 17 years old), it took me all of 36 hours to get my butt into a shop ordering a Bosch.
As the household is decreasing in size now, I can imagine my next one being a slimline, but I wouldn't be without one anymore.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

I have a full size Zanussi, had it ten years now and never had any problems with it,when it does break down I shall replace immediately as I don't think I could manage without one now.
It's fab at Christmas or when family are over, and especially after Sunday lunch.
As regards to the power consumption, I have tried mine on all programmes and find there is no difference in cleanliness so I now wash on B programme and never have a problem.
It's the one thing I never thought I would buy but once you have owned one you'll wonder how you ever managed without it.0 -

I hated washing up with a passion, my nana gave me hers that was surplus after a house move. I don't use it as often as I thought and strangely don't hate washing up anymore. But I love having it there as a backup for when I really can't be bothered and sometimes I put all my glasses and mugs in because they come out better.
Mine is also a Bosch slimline. I usually only use the quick programme and use liquitabs as I find the Finish tabs only dissolve when I use a longer programme.Sadly, you don't have any badges yet but keep trying! See what you could get........... oh boo hoo I am crying into my wine.

Ive got one too, its a 2nd hand off ebay Zanussi job and cost me 40.00 and the best money Ive ever spent in my life.
Again, I cant imagine life without one, yes there are a couple of things that cant go in it- I wrecked a cast iron pan in there- but I cnat live without it and dont ever want to live anywhere without one.
I look at flats on rightmove on the basis of whether there is a space for a DW, if not, Im not interested.
cant believe you have got to 4th kid without one
get one and reclaim your life! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
