Are we all so 'sad'?

We're not sad - we're just taking control of our finances and spending time with like-minded people.
The way I see it is that I have a spending addiction - if I want to be a recovering addict I need to make a break with my old patterns of behaviour. So, if I find myself logging on at 3.30 in the morning and perusing the DWD and OS boards then it's got to be better than logging on at 3.30 in the morning and visiting QVC!;)Don't judge people on they way they look, the way they speak or what they're called because they can't help that.
Only judge people on what they say and what they do.0 -
I must be classed as a recovering addict ....originally I posted ( to the forum, not DF board) so often I was mentioned in ML's first book but don't post here very often these daysAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0

Theres nothing better than a cuppa, logging on here and realising that no matter what the day throws at you, there's probably someone worse off. It might not seem like that at the time, but for those occasions theres plenty of friendly support and advice. Soon puts a smile on my face! If thats considered sad, then i am proud to be a sad old addict!Experience is the toughest teacher because she gives the test first then the lesson

I find if I come on here everyday it keeps me focused,I find I dont want to spend any money.:j If I miss a day I start slipping back into old habits again.  So yes I am addicted to this site:rotfl: and long may it last.:beer:0

Yes it is addictive.
I love popping on all throughout the day when possible. As someone else said i see myself as a recovering spender and it was only when i faced my debts i realised how many areas of my life had become affected, i realised i was not the person i used to be nor the person i wanted to be. So you could say i use this place to keep me focused, to make the pitfalls that bit easier and to help me get back to who i was and on the path to where i want to be.
I often have problems sleeping and soem of that is worry due to our debts, coming on here, no matter what the hour helps me eel like i am doing something productive and that makes me feel better and makes me sleep better.
Of all the addictions out there an addiction to MSE is a good one to have.:DSuccess means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Johnny Cash

Yes, another addict here too.
Was in Asda the other day, buying items for new place - decided to have a little splurge...then stood there in the aisle with said splurgable item in hands, agonising over whether to buy it or not (it was a sharp knife block set for a fair amount of cash and I didn't 'need' it...) for about 20 minutes and kept thinking of everyone on here. Went ahead and bought it and felt unbelieveably guilty about it as I didn't need it. Continued feeling guilty until I thought of a way to overcome the guilt - will take it out of my £2 coin savings!
Hadn't decided what to save them up for anyway and still have a lot left over.Proud DFW Nerd #62

glued to it - can't keep away now.
But it provides the stimulation I sometimes need to make me feel like life is interesting, that's there's stuff happening, changes afoot, people out there - the sort of stimulation I would have got in my previous life by buying something (however small). That's beside the sense of fellowship and motivation you get from coming on here and the help you can offer and get back. and the fun!0 -
I am addicted too. I recently spent a few days with dd at her new house (no internet. yet) and she thought it was doing me good to go cold turkey.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:
