This is probably a stupid question, but why should you as a vendor pay them a fee?
If, and for my money a big if, it is genuine this 'Mr Brown' will be paying them a fee, and they contacted you not the other way round, so I can't see why you should pay them.
I know if I am contacted they will be given the number of my estate agent, as they will be getting the fee weather they sell it or not, so they can do some work for it.0 -
Hi
Apparantly "Mr Brown" also has to pay the same fees as the vendor. We apparantly have to pay incase we drop out at the last minute.
Also, according to various sources we are covered by the consumer credit act if we pay via a credit card and they dont deliver the service which they were supposed to - I have that part from the horses mouth, Trading Standards.
I am wondering to what lengths this company will go to just to obtain £1200 from someone? they appear to be on the level at first thoughts, but then you begin to wonder and wonder and wonder.
I get the impression that you are going to hand over the cash no matter what anybody here says.
Still cannot figure why Mr Brown cannot just go to your estate agent.0 -
I think you're insane. Of course it's a scam. Before you part with cash please go to your credit card company and ask them if you're going to be able to do a chargeback (within what time restrictions)
Going via this company is insane for a real buyer.0 -
I can't believe anyone could fall for this! However, if you are still looking for ways for it to be a scam then an obvious one is that they get you to withdraw from the sale - maybe by reducing the price or by dragging the process on for years or maybe they have something else up their sleeve. Offer them more money if they will accept payment on exchange of contracts - gosh, funny the way they say no to that isn' it?0

they have rang me back and said they will wait for fee when sale has gone through as i told them i was not going to pay fee untill then0

We are not totally stupid, as you seem to think .... we dont part with our hard earned cash just to anyone.
We came on here for constructive comments/info on the company, not just a bunch of know-it-alls to keep bashing on "scam". Unless you know something definate about a company, you should be careful what comments you make otherwise you leave yourself open to a law suit should the company and deal be legit. Now theres somthing for you to think on about
well said i started this thread to try and find info on the company before i went ahead with it0 -
Can I just ask what contract terms apply to this money that is being handed over/not handed over? You could after all find that you are contractually bound to pay even if the house is not sold. I have to say that this is a most unusual way of doing business, so keep your wits about you, and good luck!No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

As for the T&C's - the 1200 is to stop us pulling out of the deal at the last minute, as for a buyer, this "Mr Brown" is the alledged buyer, the properties are for his portfolio. We are going carefully with this one, the only way the deal is acceptable now is if we pay at the end of the deal.
Have a solicitor look over any deal before agreeing to it. If you do not you must be bloody crazy.0 -

I get the impression you are either very stupid or trying to make these scammers look legitimate. Why else would you be so aggressive to people trying to stop others being conned? If you are not, then feel free to throw your money down the drain.Been away for a while.0 -
I do get the impression that the posters on here who have met Mr Brown were going to go with him anyway. They just wanted reassurance but when that was not forthcoming decided everybody else must be wrong.
Mr Brown is definately a very impressive operator.0
