After re-reading your post, think i understand the point you were raising.
Do you mean they do not cater for 'Chip & Signature facility'. As used by someone who might be visualy impaired?0 -
i have been a yorkshire bank cust for years having there morgage visa and switch. i also had a savings account with a minibank cash card, this has now been changed over to a switch/ maestro 2 in 1 card with out the cheque guarantee facility. the card is a basic current account and is defenitley a switch facility, ive used it shoppng and and also used it to withdraw cash abroad with the atm. you can certanley use this card as switch without any problem its a great basic account0

I think that 'Chip & Pin' allows the card issuer to determine the 'floor limit' on a card by card basis (i.e. its held in the chip)
This means that Visa Debit/Maestro cards could be issued to seek authorisation at all times. This means that they would be almost identical to Visa Electron/Solo but with the increased acceptability.
This would seem to be the case with Yorkshire/Clydesdale.
I wouldnt imagine that person using the card would be aware of the difference.

I thought it was only credit cards that had this facility?
Seems every time you post about it I end up asking loads of questions

Just want to thank the original poster for making me aware and confirm that they do indeed offer a Meastro card with the Readycash account.
No credit check is performed at all as confirmed by my advisor. I did, however, have to wait 2 weeks to get an appointment as they are busy at the minute. Also, you have to make an appointment as you can't apply online or over the phone.
You need 2 forms of ID, one with signature and your picture and one for address purposes. Job done! Card is on its way and the account will be reviewed after 6 and 12 months for an upgrade if the account has been run well.PMA - Positive Mental Attitude
