I'd love a woodburner, but sorting out the chimney would be expensive (according to DH) :(

Well done on getting rid of some of the bills, no waiting for those to drop onto the mat.

Thanks - but at the moment it's actually the opposite - I'm waiting on the postie because I have a plan & I want to pay these off.....

And yes, the woodburner & chimney wasn't cheap but it was something we'd always wanted & it's nice to know that some of Mum's money is giving us so much pleasure.

And joy of joys - 3 bills that I'd worked out I can clear off have just arrived - so must go & pay them...:D

Woohoo - another 3 paid. Had to overpay one so that we're into a credit balance as they couldn't tell me how much interest they would apply next month - so that means we can never pay it off......... so now they'll have to send me back a cheque for the credit balance due to me

But it then means it's another month before the card can be closed - they are SO sneaky.....

Well, DH is now away to work & is not due home until about 9 ish so I'm off to clean out the greenhouse so that I can get gro-bags & tomatoes in tomorrow. I know it's a bit late, but better late than never.

And next week (once it's delivered) we're both starting on the Celebrity Slim diet - we both desperately need lose weight(Memory Girl, Fling Fresian & Palema will testify to this) and as salads & veg are a big part then salads will be grown.

So for the next couple of days I'll be tidying out the fridge of the naughties - wine, cider, cheese, bread & other tasty stuff. Lettuce here I come....

    Hi there Clootiesmum
I just found your new diary. You're sounding very motivated again, you go girl. I've been spending less time on here recently and far too much on facebook, I've been so disorganised in the house too and I really don't like it, so my mid-June resolution is less time on facebook and get back to reading the forums on here for motivation again. I'm also needing to lose a stone or so in weight and have joined ww on line but I have been so disorganised I haven't even looked at the diet yet so I really need to give myelf a kick up the backside! Good luck with all you are wanting............I'm off to subscribe now.

Good to hear from you Primula - the diet thing just came from an e-mail from a work colleague & it came at the right time. Hopefully with both DH & I both being involved it'll be easier.

I ordered it through Superdrug (15% discount code & via Quidco - God bless MSE) so hopefully it'll arrive on Monday or Tuesday. I really hope the information with it gives you what you are "allowed" to eat so that I can mealplan for a week at a time - still hoping to be able to use the slow cooker to take any pressure off me.

Talking of slow cookers - Stovies are in for tonight (thanks MG) as DH will need a we scooby snack when he comes in.

I've been managing to get organised in the house in small stages recently but have had a ciouple of good days in which I've tackled bigger issues(hence the being able to pay off bills...) but these days are few and far between although they are all enjoyed when they arrive.

Ooooh stovies, yum yum, I'd be interested to hear how they are in the slow cooker, and how you did them?

Can't take the credit for the stovies - I got the recipe from Memory Girl but for 2 of us I use ......

    3 largish potatoes thinly sliced
    1 onion again thinly sliced
1 small tinned on corned beef chopped up
approx 1 cup of beef stock
approx half cup of beef dripping
    salt & pepper

Pop in slow cooker & leave it on high for 4-5 hours

Not quite as fancy as the recipe I got but there's only 2 of us & this suits us fine.

    And it's lovely
