Good justification on the bath front!

Saw some pretty 'mini bunting' today in a shop - the bunting was threaded onto a ribbon and could be moved as required up and down the ribbon - lilttle bunting shapes about the size of 2" - the whole thing maybe one metre long - selling for 10.99...........................

ETA we cross posted - I think alot of what you are saying makes utter sense

Makeup great stuff on the lodger :)

Good grief Fay! I SO need to start selling the damn stuff. Problem is of course as soon as I think I *have* to do something, I don't want to :o Either that or it becomes (another) phd distraction....

    Housemate sounds grand makeup!

(and as for me still going since 6 this morning - sadly I have to get up and do it all over again tomorrow!) (can't really complain though, it's only 2 days after all!) :rotfl:

Wow, lots of chatter to catch up on here. Cheery, no it wasnt anything you said, I just reread my post and thought that I sounded a bit rude. I have a tendency to say/write what comes into my head as I think it and it can be quite abrupt sometimes. My job which involved going to fruit and veg markets in a campervan was the first job I ever did when I left school. In those days it was called a YTS!! showing my age now. And I was a shop assistant in a little village shop that I had to travel miles on the bus to. I LOVED the couple that I worked for they were called Fran and Frank and I still love them to this day, they really looked after me. Whilst I was a shop assistant they taught me everything there was to know about running shops from stocktaking to buying and Frank used to let me go with him to the markets. I still have a romantic notion of having an organic fruit and veg shop and a vegetarian deli/cafe all rolled into one. They also used to take me and the other girl out on staff days out in the campervan. We used to go to Wales a lot (I live there now) especially The Great Orme in Llandudno because Fran loved it there. Wow, you have brought back some happy memories with asking that question Thanks.

I think that you have some very sensible ideas about the job front. I also love the idea of going away for Christmas. Where do you fancy? This country or abroad?

Of course you had to use up the bath water, purely for practical purposes of course. And see by doing that you are ever more practical coming up with lots of good money plans.

The trouble with the whole bath water justification was that I had a bath - and then couldn't be bothered doing the sealant! :rotfl:

    Back later...
  • Waves to the chaps - just about to have tea

Did chuckle about the bath sealant, thats the kind of thing I would do

The reason you've not seen piccies of completed tables/hen houses etc - is that they are started and almost done, but nothing is finished!!!

We're going to OH's for Xmas - minus kids (its not my year *sniff*) as I set the rules this does seem ludicrious but its fair I guess. So we'll be in central Scotland for probably 10 days to two weeks.

Are we allowed to mention xmas yet?

I only actually 'do' xmas once every two years, which I think to be honest, makes it more bearable!

Aww Fay. Maybe you should instigate some alternative Christmas activities with your OH. When I found myself on my own I introduced my very own Christmas activities which helped. I now always watch a really good Christmas film on Christmas Eve afternoon whilst drinking mulled wine and eating mince pies! The last two years I have introduced OH to the ritual. He spent 20 odd years on his own at Christmas (his parents drive him mad so he chose to do this) and he said the year before last that it was the best Christmas he had ever had because it wasnt all about running around like a mad person. I believe Christmas is and should be about you doing whatever you feel like doing. One Christmas I sat on my bed on Christmas day with my two dogs and plate of egg and chips listening to radio 3 all day. It was fab and I felt very decadent. :rotfl:

  • pS daffs I'm still contemplating your big post - sounds pretty sensible and do-able - but I wanted to mull more before I said anything really stupid!

How decadent indeed Cherisong! :j :j :j What lovely ideas :j

The first year me and Mr Daffs got together, it was about 6 weeks before Christmas, so we went our separate ways to our families. Mine all went to bed at 7pm on Christmas day, leaving me stranded in the living room, wondering what on earth I was doing :rotfl: So the next year we hired a little cottage on the edge of the sea up in Fay Land (although we didn't know her then), and had the most amazing holiday ever :j Then the next year we did the same thing, in a different cottage about 300 metres up the road :rotfl: Then the year after that we tried to do something similar, but it snowed and snowed and SNOWED so we had 3 weeks off work in our own Cottage-By-The-Sea-On-Tour (ie, our own house, which is about 90 miles away from the sea :rotfl:) and we had a great time :T I love Christmas too :T

Anyway, sorry for mentioning Christmas, didn't mean to get us all started talking about it! :o

Loooong day today, and I'm so overwhelmingly tired :o Got all sausage-like (as in 'don't be a Silly Sausage') this morning over not having bought biscuits for the coffee break at work :o But got over myself eventually :o

Anyway, going to toddle off now as I'm barely coherent this evening. <yawn> Mr Daffs just getting in the bath (second try at doing the sealant :rotfl:) so I'm toying between doing a bit of transcribing, or just going to bed :o

PhD tomorrow, and Day 15 of Shred  (I need it - managed to stuff in SO much cake last week, and been so tired and hormonal the last few days I've just eaten and eaten and eaten - not good for the budget either :o), also going blackberry picking :j and to visit friend who got out of hospital the other day (and who lives round the corner from the blackberries)

Will pop in tomorrow and be more coherent (maybe)
