Eek!
Just looked at bank account and had minor panic as only had £200 left in current account  Might not seem like crisis - but £238 of that is set aside to pay fees... :rotfl:
Went over spreadsheet with eagle eye and discovered the problem....
I put a full tank of diesel in the car at the beginning of the month as an experiment (£75). My diesel budget is only £30 (and really I shouldn't be spending that!). However, we've still got about a quarter of a tank left, and Mr Daffs hasn't given me any for the big trips he's made yet - will square up at the end of the month - but I should be getting at least £45 of that back, and hopefully a bit more :j
So that makes things slightly more reasonable
Also, I bought a 20 trip bus ticket for work for £20, which will save me approximately £1 a week :rotfl: and will last until approximately the end of June, longer if I start going on my bike againSo while that's come out of this month's money, it'll mean my bus budget for May and June will drop from £45 a month to £15 :j :j :j (I know that doesn't add up, but it does work out - I budget to be able to get the expensive bus, but now I won't, because I've got a cheap ticket for the bus that's cheaper anyway, so I'll never be getting the more expensive bus, if you see what I mean :rotfl:)
And I bought my friend one at the same time, paid for from bank, but she gave me cash, so that's in my purse and will mean I just don't need to take out as much cash next week.
So, all in all, I'm not doing too badly, and paid next Thursday too :j :j I've transfered £12 from the train budget for this week, and another £12 for next week, to the Patchwork Fund (I have that n there in case I have to go to work 3 days each week, but generally only go in 2 days, so transfer the spare over each week - makes me feel like I'm achieving something). Might even get away with only going in one day next week, as nobody will be there anyway, so that'll be another £12
So - patchwork fund is up to £101.60 :j :j and overall savings pot is up to 21%! :j :j :j :j
And dinner tonight is being funded from the 'joint treats' pot (which automatically gets £30 a month for just such an occasion, but which we often don't spend so is building up for holiday spends), so is essentially free
So now I don't feel quite so incompetent after all0 -
Nice to see you are getting rid of the old pHD paper and sorting out your feng shui, Cheery!
I bet it will be lovely to have little more than the actual bound pHD when you finally get there! Please call me 'Pickle'

I suspect it will
Speaking of which, I don't actually have a copy of the final thing! Not a paper copy anyway. That might be one of my tasks for the weekend - think I might do myself a hard bound copyWe'll see
Gorgeously sunny day here again :j :j :j :j Got a bit of work to do from yesterday, but it's not difficult, and quite fun, so I don't mind. Going to get a cuppa and read the paper first though in the sunshine0 -
Well, I didn't print a hard copy of the phd, but I did print out all the stuff from my art of living cheerfully course
Going to wait til it's finished, then get it bound so I can carry it round with me and take it on days out :j :j
Exhausted this eveningWe decided to go for a long walk today, and headed down into a wooded valley not too far away. Of course, the problem with heading *down* when you live on the top of the hill is that it inevitably means you have to come back *up* again at the end... :rotfl: So now I'm worn out.
Shut up in the attic for a couple of hours while Mr Daffs entertains a young lady in the kitchen. Might even get on with that work I skived off yesterday.... or I might not0 -
why not do something cheerful instead? Like crafting or blogging, or more of those lovely picture montages. Much more fun than work. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Actually cheri, I've beat you to it
I'm curled up in the spare bed under a handmade patchwork quilt and a handmade crocheted blanket, with my made fairy-lights-shaped-like-tulips on, and have loaded some daft and cheery photos onto my blog, and now I'm going to have a nap :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
I just stupidly stayed up and watch Mamma Mia - what an absolute load of drivel! Complete and utter tosh from start to finish, not a likeable character among the lot of them, barely a story, hardly anything in the way of fabulous costumes (apart from the sparkly flares), very little emotion, and FAR too much squealing.
but I'm a sucker for a cheesy musical :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

:money:Sleeves up folks.:money:0 -
Just catching up a bit - it seems aaaages since I last popped in here
Glad to see things still cheery - and you certainly are not incompetent as regards the money situation - savings are being built up, and you can account for everything, so I can't see any negative there!
Enjoy the sunshine - that is one thing that can be pretty much guaranteed to increase my personal cheery levels :cool:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
