    I'm sorry I'm so late, but congratulations on your Drness, I am so so pleased for you, you really deserve it you've worked so hard! As always you're making me feel bad for not getting on with my assignments, so I think that is what I'll do now.

    Have fun in the garden.

    Well, here we are nearly at the end of Sunday, and have I done anything else from the list?? Been busy all day, so I must have done *something* :rotfl:

    HOME
    * clothes away in bedroom
    * [STRIKE]washing done and hung up[/STRIKE]

    GARDEN
    * [STRIKE]carry on digging path![/STRIKE] - DONE BUT NEEDS MORE DOING! - done more now!
    * repot seedlings
    * see what else needs planting
    * mosaic??

    FUN
    * [STRIKE]find fancy dress costume for tonight![/STRIKE]
    * [STRIKE]WI this morning[/STRIKE]
    * [STRIKE]housewarming tonight[/STRIKE]
    * party on Sunday night

    OTHER
    * birthday present for friend's son
    * finish letter to friend
    * find out about conference
    * go through university emails/filing system to see what needs saving
    * [STRIKE]books back to library[/STRIKE]
    * think about printing PHD (I don't have a copy of my own!)
    * make photo thing for office :)

    Oh dear, well, it seems that my 'busy-ness' has been entirely confined to digging the darn path up, ambling about in the woods with Mr Daffs, and eating sausages and roast potatoes :rotfl: :rotfl: Looks like I'm going to be busy the rest of the week then! :D

    So, I've got about, er, half an hour or so til I'm meant to be going to this party (I can be late, but there's a ceilidh that finishes at 9, and I'm rather in need of a spot of dancing if I can make it! :D)

    Blatantly not going to get everything done, but what I AM going to do is...

    * write blog (very important :rotfl:)
    * make card for friend's birthday tomorrow
    * repot plant for friend's birthday
    * decide clothes to wear for work tomorrow, and pack bag
    * have a quick shower

    Hmm, that's quite a lot in half an hour :rotfl: Best get cracking! :eek:

    Sounds like a fab weekend, even if you didn't get the whole list done. The compost thing is very interesting! *toddles off to council website*

    I actually didn't do too badly on that list - although did miss the dancing - pah! Good evening though :)

    Not huge lots to report here. My new project got ethical approval, so we're all set to go ahead :) Very exciting. Have to do scary presentation at a conference on Monday in London - eek! Hate those things, and this is likely to be bigger than I've ever done before - bah. Still, I am brave and professional grown up, and will do excellently :D

    And will have a large gin afterwards :D

    Not much to report here. Colleague gave me a single train ticket she didn't need, so only had to buy the coming home half for tomorrow - so saved £7.40 which has gone into patchwork fund :j :j Also put in extra £12 allocated to third day of work this week (usually doesn't get used, but I budget for it anyway!), and the £36 allocated for week 5 train fares (no week 5 for me in April!).

    Had to do a bit of juggling of budgets due to some daft spending this month too :o Paid £19 for 20 (yes, 20!) printer cartridges, worth it, but there wasn'ta budget for it to come out of - so I've taken it from the week 5 food money (and put the leftover £10 into the patchwork fund before I spend that too :rotfl:)

    Also paid £24 for charity membership - used week 5 treats money for that (that £24 is for the whole year).

    Had a slightly :eek: moment when I thought there wasn't enough left in the bank to get to the end of the month despite all my plotting :eek: but then realised I'd put £75 of diesel in the car, and Mr Daffs is going to give me what he uses as he uses it, and he hasn't done any major trips yet, so I'll at least get some (most, hopefully!) of that back. I'm keeping track of how much I use the car myself this month - I've consistently put £30 of diesel in every month, and feel like I barely use it - suspecting Mr Daffs doesn't quite realise how much diesel has gone up lately... So I'll add up how many miles I've done, see how many we've done in total, and then see how much it costs to fill the tank back up at the end of the month - should give a fairly realistic picture!

    So - patchwork fund now stands at £77.60 :j :j And total savings stands at... £1685 :j :j That's 20.7% :j :j (I'm *loving* the percentage figure!) :D

    Patchwork fund looking good Daffs - overall total looking good too of course but the patchwork fund is the really cheery one isn't it! I love those sort of savings accounts where you put "unexpected" money - amazing how they can mount up! :D

    I think I could be motivated to do anything with the promise of gin afterwards :D

    Multicoloured/multipatched grownupness! With a fund! Thats great that you're keeping such a close eye on it. I confess I'm not .... like with this wedding.... if there's a genuine need to buy something, then I'll buy it ... which is probably why my clothes end up as rags on my back most of the time!

    It does really mount up, that unexpected little bit of money from here and there, doesn't it?? :j :j Very much enjoying having that in my total - that's going to fund a year or two off, or give me some breathing space between jobs, or let me work just 2 days a week for 6 years without having to worry about bills :D (well, obviously when it gets to more than £77 :rotfl: :rotfl:)

    Good day in work today :j :j Felt like we actually achieved something! :j (I've been feeling a little incompetent of late :o) One thing I've realised though is that I'm sometimes opening emails when there isn't really time to deal with them, and then forgetting to come back to them :eek: So need to have a good go through them all this week, and then work out a proper way to keep on top of them. It's the admin related ones I mostly forget about! (although I did forget a response to an ethics committee last week - eek!)

    Still, working at home tomorrow and Friday, and very much looking forward to it! Was proper organised today and packed myself little project files with the paperwork for each different bit of work that needs doing over the next couple of days - normally I just throw it all in a bag together, and then get overwhelmed... :rotfl: So one file out of the bag at a time! :D

    Cheery I get overwhelmed by emails sometimes. I find that if there is one that needs a response by a certain date and I dont have time to do it when I first open it, the best way for me is to put it as a piece of work to do in my outlook calendar and set a time and date to do it like an appointment. That way, it pops up in my reminders. I tend to work to my calendar more than my task list or to do list for work. I schedule all kinds of things in there. You can copy the whole email to the calendar event too so that you dont have to root around in your inbox to find it again. My outlook calendar even allows me to categorise things by colour so I have a really cheery diary.
