Thanks :j :j
Tea out kind of turned into an amble through the woods while the sun was setting, and some instant noodles :rotfl: :rotfl: Very MSE :rotfl: :rotfl:
Next Friday earmarked instead0 -
Doesnt matter when you have tea out as long as you enjoy whatever you are doing. Lovely to amble in the woods at sunset. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0

Thanks KC :j :j
I've been ambling round the internet doing a few cheery chores while eating lunch. Been trying to find out about our green waste collection service - you used to collect bags from the library then ring the council when you had a few and they'd come and get them. Then they said we were having reusable bags, and withdrew all existing stocks of disposable ones from libraries. Then they decided they were too expensive, so we're having disposable ones again and they'll collect them on set days of the year. Fine - but they haven't yet decided when they'll be handing the new bags out...
Anyway, so I'd heard we could buy the compost they make with our garden waste. Apparently it's £3 a bag - not bad! (although no idea how big the bags are. Then I've just found out that they have a 'bag your own compost' day where they give you a bag and a spade, and you fill bag for £1! :j :j But there's 4 a year - I've missed the first two, the third is today and finished at 12.30 :rotfl: Ah well - another one in 2 weeks time, so guess where I'll be
(must also remember there's FREE well rotted horse manure down the road too! :j :j Feels a bit excessive for my tiny gardenbut I guess it's always worth improving your soil, and since it's close and free...
Anyway, must stop reading about gardening and actually get out and do some! :rotfl:0 -
Now then!
Another gorgeous morning, and I thought I'd best revisit my list and see if I'd actually done anything from it :rotfl:

So, still a few things to do, and I'd like to squeeze in a run, and make some flapjacks or something for portable breakfasts for the next few days. Priority is the garden though - I've dug out a couple of the old slab things, but I'm too weedy to lift them :rotfl: So I've got a friend coming at some point, but want to dig space round the others first so its easier for them.
Doesn't it make a difference when the sun shines??0 -
Ooh yes, lovely sun today! Very motivating (as is an early morning swim!)
I have a question for the pancake guru! How long does pancake batter last once you make it up? I only really need it to last a few days but when it separates it always looks so horrid I am never sure how to tell that it is definitely not mouldy. I am also using soya milk so not sure if that makes a difference?Weight loss: Start weight: 80kg; Current Weight: 77kg; Target weight: 55kg0 -
Thats a good question, I'd like to know the answer to that one myself. And I presume that even if its in the fridge, its better to keep a lid on it?
Cheery, why are you digging the *path*? Scratching my head here, sorry - aren't you supposed to be digging the garden? Or has the path sort of collapsed into the garden? Fascinating, what people do!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Pancake mix - I'd say it's fine as long as you'd keep the milk for! A quick stir with a whisk and it just looks like pancake mix again
So you should be fine with a few days. and I never bother with a lid - but then I'm completely slack
As for the path.. there was a sunken concrete path running down from the front door to the pavement, with these huge ancient paving slabs either side. We smashed most of the concrete, and removed it, but there's just a giant load of rubble and stones under it. I'm trying to remove the old pavings, but they really are enormous, and I need to dig down quite far to get anywhere near the bottom of them. Hence removing lots of the rubble - an absolute pain in the backside
Still - worth it though. I'm going to get the pavings out, build a mini retaining wall at the bottom, fill the hole back in, level it off, put the enormous pavings on top, put some kind of fence round it - and have a lovely sunny mini paradise outside the door in a relatively private bit of garden where I can sit and have a nice cup of teaWill see if I can find a photo...
