Ooh rosemary tea is lovely - was it just rosemary leaves or an actual tea bag/mix?

Good luck with the tootling! :)

Thanks Squizz :D Are you doing much these days? If you ever fancy a Secret Tooters Society let me know :D I was good once, but haven't played properly for 13 years...... :D

Tea was just some rosemary leaves, and a tiny bit of mint. Was surprisingly nice! :j

Just bought a new pair of jeans for £2.99 :j :j And some balls of cotton to knit dish cloths with :D Pneumatic drilling will have to wait until tomorrow :rotfl:

Ah yeah that's what I do for rosemary tea too - it's quite refreshing!

Well I got some music out of the library but haven't done any actual tootling recently. I think it's probably about the same amount of time since I played properly! Maybe once my ears have stopped being all bunged up we could get together for a rusty tootle? (actually perhaps having bunged up ears might be a good thing if we're both a bit out of practise.. :D)

That would indeed be lovely Squizz! :j :j :j Hope your ears sort themselves out soon :( (and I hope I don't show myself up for being entirely useless :rotfl: Apologies in advance if that's the case :rotfl:)

Had a gorgeous afternoon at friend's house :j :j Lots of duets, and a good deal of chatting about past experiences and her new flute, which I had a proper go on - am utterly smitten, and need a new one myself IMMEDIATELY (or whenever I've saved up £1500, whichever comes first :rotfl:) That might just be the savings goal I was looking for (without breaking into my patchwork life fund, of course :j)

Anyway, we'll see, I need to play the one I've got a little more first :rotfl:

Stil gorgeously sunny out there :j :j Hopefully off to a friend's house this evening, but Mr Daffs has got the car, so it'll be a good hour's walk in the sunshine (hope she rings while there's chance to walk there in the sunshine rather than the dark, otherwise I might be slightly less than enthusiastic! :rotfl:)

    Right, finances post coming up.....

So - currently in the bank I have...

£552 in the palace fund (signature shows the total saved - doesn't take into account what I already spent on the palace :rotfl:)
£2 in the holiday fund :rotfl:

    £183 in emergency fund :T
£40 in car maintenance fund (had more before the exhaust fell off - pah!)
    £10 diesel money

    £348 in the current account
of which I need for next week:

    £30 food
    £20 fun
    £24 trains to work
£225 set aside for university fees (if they ever let me graduate and bother to ask for them!)

Leaving £49 spare :T I'll probably use £10 of that on diesel to get to nephew's birthday do at the weekend :T Leaving £39 to start off the flute fund :D (haven't entirely decided this is a good idea yet :rotfl:)

So, the plan is, each month when I get paid:

£400 straight to palace fund (only next month now, and then after that it'll be £400 to patchwork life fund instead :j :j)
    £400 to the house budget/rent/whatever

Any spare from unused train budget/treats budget etc can go to the new flute fund (I suppose really a kind of shorter term savings, rather than the slightly longer term patchwork life fund).

But not entirely convinced I should be doing that :rotfl: so going to put the money in it, and see how much I play the existing one in the next few months, and then decide :D

Seem to have wasted the entire evening in front of the computer, that wasn't the plan!  So I'm going to turn it off, set the timer and spend 15 minutes tidying the kitchen, then curl up on the sofa with my happiness journal and do what I've been told to do for this cheery course :j :j :j Night all xx

Nice planning, and nice saving too Daffs! The flute-tooting sounds fantastic, I SO wish I could play an instrument.

Glad the moving of the 'post bin went well too - it really oughtn't ever to smell, well, to smell unpleasant anyway! We dug ours out the other week too and got a full bag for lovely dark rich compost from it - if you want to give yours a treat then think about collecting tea-bags from all over the place for it - we periodically collect the ones from our respective workplaces and it makes it gorgeously soft and crumbly.

Nasturtium flowers are nice, but what is really REALLY lush is to have one of the leaves as the salad in a burger bun - the pepperyness works so well with the richness of the burger.....mmmmmm! I like them sliced over a salad in place of spring onions as well.

Daffy that cheeriness course is really working. Love the idea of the journal, but then I love journals. The tooting fluting sounds like a good plan to me but I am with you on using the one you have for now and seeing how it goes. I so wish I could play and instrument but Mr Watson (my music teacher) told me that I was so bad he wouldnt even let me loose with a triangle!!!!!!!
I know how you feel being surrounded by so many musicians. All of my friends play something Mr C plays the piano and the trumpet and I have a good friend who is a concert pianist. Me, I just listen and sway.

 How DARE any teacher ever tell a child they can't play an instrument! absolutely no reason not to start now cheri! :D :j :j

Thinking of getting someone to give mine a good overhaul first of all, and seeing if it's worth buying a new head for it. We'll see.

Off to pick up a pickaxe and some bricks then out into the garden :j :j

Oh, and no need to collect spare teabags in this house EH! :rotfl: :rotfl: Probably get through 20 a day on average :rotfl:

I wont say that it scarred me but whenever I go to the proms (which I recommend to anybody as a very good MSE treat - only £5 to get in) I hang over the balcony above the percussion section and wish I could get my hands on that triangle. A friend who is a conductor and violinist always cheers me up by saying that one day he will let me accompany him with a triangle. Oh well. Teachers can be quite harsh.

I think sometimes people don't realise how what they might think of as a flippant comment can affect someone's whole life.

Mr Daffs is wielding a pickaxe :D And we've collected (free!) bricks and paving slabs :j :j Haven't braved the pneumatic drill yet
