Yep VL, ah well! Going to see if I can manage to put the corset over the top (the most awful clash of colours - dress is kind of sparkly pink/blue with a big full net underskirt, and corset is turquoise :D) If I can do it to make it look like a skirt, then that's what I'll wear :D

In the last half hour I've carried upstairs:

    - 5 baskets of ancient wooden printing blocks
    - 5 vases of recorders
    - 4 large picture frames
    - 1 colander full of plastic dinosaurs
    - 1 large beer tray (evidently retrieved from some pub long ago) full of marbles, kinder egg toys, small things of sentimental value etc
    - 1 basket of tapes from Mr daffs' old bands (Mr Daffs has been a rock star for a Long Time)
    - 3 broken (but fixable) speakers

    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I haven't actually done anything since then :rotfl: Other than read some nice things, have a little mini toot on my flute, and anoter couple of cups of tea :rotfl:

And just had a text from Mr Daffs to say he's on his way home! :j :j :j Very unexpected - wasn't expecting him back until tomorrow morning :rotfl: So I'm going to dash upstairs with the stuff out of the kitchen (which means all I need to do tomorrow is hoover, and make my darn outfit), and then I'll make him some nice food for when he gets in :D

    Hooray! :j :j :j :j
  • :wave:Hi Cheery and Everyone :D

You really sound like you are enjoying your work Cheery which is fab! I also wanted to post to say those printing blocks are amazing! muchly jealous! so Woo! :j:j to Mr Daffs for saving them and a hessian sack too :j:j:j

Just popped on here for a quick breather from my assignment *eep* I am at that nervous jittery stage with it now so thought I should step away from it for a few minutes :o Oh well, timers gone off and I've printed off what I hope will be the penultimate draft to read over. Have to (re)write the conclusion, check any obvious word / spelling errors, make sure all quotes are referenced, whack together a bibliography and get the flipping thing sent off tonight  :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Can you imagine I'm like this with an essay can only imagine what it was like with phd - but must say you are an inspiration Daffs so thank you ;)

Am sure your celebration will be fantabulous too!

Beanie am sure you will have a fab time at your fancy dress - the one's i've been too have definitely been lots of fun and lots of chat about the fancy dress so a nice way to get chatting to new people too x

Hope you got your assignment finished Dedcated! :T :T

I don't play very well these days PIckle, that's something I kind of maybe wanted to get back into. I also don't really play outside the house, or in it when there's anyone else here :rotfl: Stupid really, given that I'm perpetually surrounded by musicians :rotfl: But they're all really good :o I did grades etc at school, so I'm 'officially' good :rotfl: But they can all just pick up instruments and play *anything*, no music, just all joining in, and I just can't do that at all. Time to pull finger out and learn I think! :T :T

Family been here all day, lovely to see them, and they took a load of old knitting machine wool we'd picked up when it was being thrown out by the charity shop. Apparently they all knit blankets 'for the cold people' (in various places, Romanian orphanages, big issue sellers, etc). We were talking about new places to send things to - some charities won't take knitted blankets etc and would rather have money, but places like women's refuges, hostels etc sometimes take actual knitted things, and there's somewhere that collects knitted squares and sews them all together so you don't have to commit to an entire blanket. A potential good project for me I think, I love knitting/crocheting, always seem to land up with cheap/free wool from various places (all odd balls and think stuff and bizarre colours), so should put it to good use! :T :T

Anyway, demolished a fair amount of cake today :rotfl: Off up to the attic now to make fancy dress outfit! :j :j :j

    Hi Cheery
I crochet blankets for my local Animal Rescue Centre. Maybe there is one near you, they tend not to mind multicoloured blankets that are made up of all sorts of spare wool.

    Good plan greenval!

Beanielou, are you all dressed up??

My outfit is ready, and I've just realised we've run out of loo roll, so a quick dash to the shop is in order  Also had 2 phone calls from people saying they can't come - I HATE this part of the evening! I do understand that things happen at the last minute, I never actually expect anyone to turn up until they do (I have lots of unrealiable musician type friends :rotfl:) but somehow it doesn't make me feel very good when people ring and say 'I can't come to your post-phd celebratory party because I'm tired because I've had a really hectic day grouting the bathroom...'

Ah well - less people = more champagne for the rest of us :D
