I think the washer problem is with the tap at the back - hopefully easily fixable, but I'm planning on not getting involved in that one :D

Anyway, I've eaten lunch, sneakily watched a mini bit of tv with mr daffs over a cuppa (daytime tv is *so* not my thing, but this was a cheery programme about a man with a garage cutting and fixing and making stuff which was actually quite cheery :rotfl: Anyway, prompted discussions about future plans, always a cheery thing :))

Back up in the attic now, armed with a list and a plan :j

(forgot to say I popped in the charity shop on the way back from the dentist and they were having a half price coat/jacket sale, and I got a lovely black fitted jacket, double row of buttons up the front, for £2 :D Nice MSE treat after a not-so-cheery morning! :T)

Anyway, onwards and upwards. Trying to get something sensible to send to supervisors by the end of today, so I can have most of tomorrow off for the last of Christmas present sorting/preparations, and Sunday we're having friends round, so the morning will be spent preparing for that. I'm getting there! :T

Cheery, you take care of yourself. You have to be fit for that journey North. Pah to washing machines. It always happens when you least need it.

Sounds like lots going on there with doors, washing machines, future plans. Good for you on getting the work done so you can have the day off tomorrow. I am struggling to think of a nice present for OH.

I always struggle with mr daffs!

However, these days we're both pretty much agreed that rather than trying to find 'the' best present, we both rather like getting something to wear, something to adorn, something to nibble on, something to read/dip in to, and something to play with :D Usually pretty small things, but cheery nevertheless :D (mind you, I'm not even half way there yet :rotfl:) Good luck in your quest, so difficult to know what to get sometimes!

Well, I have something to dip in for him I am currently writing poems, finding funny cartoons, quotes and jokes (I want 365) to put in a kilner jar as a dipping into jar to remind him of me when we are not together. Other than that I am drawing a blank. Might bake him some hobnobs and put them in a nice tin. I am trying to be original.

A friend of mine sent me an ordinary notebook for my birthday one year - but she'd spent days arranging a new cover - she had magazine photos, a photo of me she'd cut out, playing cards, all sorts of things in there, filling all the space front and back, it was astonishing. It must have taken a lot of time, which you don't really have, but its an idea.

I love that idea KC. I may have some time next week to do something like that. He loves things like Private Eye and The News quiz etc so maybe I could buy a copy and do something along those lines. He does like to have notebooks. Thanks for the inspiration.

Does he like chocolatey things Cheri? I'm going to make some of those hot chocolate stick things (just solid blocks of melted chocolate on a stick that you stir into hot milk to make hot chocolate) for people, and put them in a mug with some ribbon round etc. You could always add a few posh (or not!) chocolates, or marshmallows or something? (and if you're not fussy about the mug, I found some decent plain white ones in Wilkinson's for 55p!)

I'm stopping work for the night now - spent far too long staring at the screen, and I think that actually my time would be better spent crossing a few Christmassy things off tomorrow's list, and then trotting out to this gig.

I'm going to replace every other cup of tea with a herbal one (caffeine doesn't help, but I do like my tea!).

I had to stop drinking caffeine & I really am a tea bag. Used to drink PG Tips but found Typhoo De Caf is just the same
And tonight, I'm going to trot out to see Mr Daffs and his harpist friend play at the local independent cinema (sometimes I don't go because I'm 'too busy' but I think tonight I need the diversion) :D (and I'll get in free :D)

That sounds like a lovely evening :T In the next town to me we have a proper old fashioned cinema with an organ. Upstairs is a proper balcony but downstairs has a bar and round tables and deep seats that rock and turn. It is a real treat to go there :D
