Morning!
Got up early to get 4 hours in before going to the dentist - but by the time I'd got up I only had time for 3, then Mr Daffs got up and made a cuppa, and now I've only got time for two..
:rotfl: Oh dear!
Ah well, two is better than none
:j :j So onwards we go

Getting there... slowly...
I think I'm going to need to take a leaf out of KC's book today and focus on my health (as well as the PhD, of course!). This morning, my heart rate shot through the roof at a slightly heated discussion on another forum that I go on. Perfectly normal (although not for me these days).
However, it did serve as a bit of a jolt back to remind me of the state I got in with an overactive thyroid a year or so ago (I was diagnosed when I was eventually persuaded to go to the docs having had a resting heart rate of over 120bpm for several months
I thought they'd tell me to drink less tea, they stuck me in a taxi and sent me straight to A&E
). It's all sorted for now, but they told me the best thing I could do for myself was to RELAX, not get wound up, and not get too stressed (they think it was triggered by stress in my case - and obviously made things far worse).
So, when my heart started beating loudly this morning, it reminded me of the state I was in then, and how much I don't want to be in it again! So - relaxation measures are the order of the day. I'm usually pretty good at this, but needed a reminder this week - and now I've had one
So - I won't be opening that other forum again today. I'm going to replace every other cup of tea with a herbal one (caffeine doesn't help, but I do like my tea!). I'm going to concentrate on work during the time I've set for work, but take regular breaks to properly relax. And tonight, I'm going to trot out to see Mr Daffs and his harpist friend play at the local independent cinema (sometimes I don't go because I'm 'too busy' but I think tonight I need the diversion)
(and I'll get in free
)
(and I'm not going to worry about the dentist
Repeat after me: It's only a pain in my tooth, it's not a moral failing... (and there's actually money saved up in the emergency pot to pay for it! :j)
Big long waffle, sorry, just needed to be reminded of what I need to do...0 -
We all need to be reminded sometimes.
Sure you will know that you can get caffine free Tetleys?

Thanks guys

Mr Daffs just came upstairs to say the washing machine's flooded... I did offer to help, but sometimes more than one person trying to mop up only makes things worse... :eek:0 -
Oh dear - well, I'm glad he's taking care of it, not you, but sorry its flooded
and sorry to hear you've got this ongoing *need* to relax. As long as you listen to yourself on that, you'll be fine, I'm sure. And how lovely to live music at a cinema! I've been to a few special performances that are like that, its very atmospheric. 2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hoping it's just the pipe KC, rather than the actual washing machine (fingers crossed!). Water all mopped up, but washing's still soggy in there.
Slid all way down to the dentist, and had a small filling without anesthetic (ouch!), then slid all the way back up again.
Got home to a friend measuring a door to replace our front door (which we don't use, is an internal door, and is rotting) - only to find the door we have doesn't fit (which we probably could have figured out ourselves!).
Lunch now, and I'm planning on having a more cheery afternoon than morning

cheery, we had that same problem with doors when we replaced two internal doors, not such a problem as you have as yours are outside but the carpenter ended up adding some wood to the bottom to get them the right height.
Hope the washer sorts out soon, could it be a blockage somewhere?0
