good job you're not going in tomorrow, sounds like a horrible journey to work and back.
Glad you got some PhD work done and that you only have one person to check through your final report, that's great news.0 -
Thanks LT :j
Lots more snow overnight here, looks like a nice snowy postcard :rotfl: And it's still snowing! VERY glad I don't have to go to work today!
Payday though - so online banking over a cuppa I reckonThen I'd best do some work, otherwise 'working at home' becomes a bit of a pointless phrase! :rotfl:
Might sneak out later for a snowball fight though0 -
Working snuggled up with a cuppa tea - snowball fight - its all good!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

It is indeed KC! :T :T
Just done a spot of online banking too - and I'm all set til the end of the year now :T (gosh, that's frightening! :rotfl:)
So -
* In the savings account (holiday fund) I have £350 :T :T This is what I'd planned to save for holiday :T Also have a sneaky bit of spare change we've been saving for cups of tea and sconesSo that should also cover us (well, my half) if we have to resort to Plan B of getting the train etc - will work out a bit more expensive. Fingers crossed that the snow has all gone by then!
* in the bills account I've got £170 - that's the emergency fund, car maintenance, diesel etc. There's enough in there to cover my dentist trip, plus having the car serviced before we go away (if we can get it as far as the garage that is ), plus some spare. The idea was to save up over the year for road tax, MOT etc, but I'm not too worried about spending this on car service now as I'll be working full time soon so able to put much more away for this :j :j
* in the current account I now have £236 - enough for this week, plus another 2 weeks of food and fun (after that we're officially on holiday and the Holiday Spending Money kicks in). Also enough for another 3 days train fare to work (I've got a day in London, a day Annual Leave, and a day where I'll be staying over and coming back the next day, so that'll save me a few train fares :T). And there's £85 for Christmas presents, which should be just about enough (just need to get buying them now )
Forgot to tell you I also changed my mobile contract the other day - it was £20 a month, now it's £15 for 600 anytime/network minutes, unlimited landline calls, and unlimited textsNot too bad I thought, I do use it as my main phone, and when I'm working at home it'll be handy to be able to call landlines on it without it costing :T So I'm pleased with that! :T
Altogether a successful morning so far! :j :j Let's hope my success carries through to trying to access the network at work - might be a long fight with IT services over the phone.....0 -
That does sound successful! I'm really going to have to sort out my budgetting after all the faff of Christmas is done - I have a monthly soa/budget, but *still* haven't got round to checking spends against it - at first it was because I just wasn't buying anything I didn't *have* to buy, but now that I do have some optional purchases, I need to get a bit more proactive.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Hooray for a successful morning!

Good planning and budgeting there Cheery. I think that I need to reassess my mobile phone usage. I currently have pay as you go. If I put £10 per month on I get 300 free texts and that is it. I am paying for a landline that allows me unlimitied day and evening calls but for some reason it still ends up costing me £30 per month. I think this is because I speak to OH most days at lunchtime, he rings me from his mobile so I ring him back. Your contract sounds really good as I do invariably ending up spending more than £10 if I am out and about working and phone OH from mobile. I am just very reluctant to have a contract as I never know what might happen and I might not be able to afford to keep the contract up.Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0

O2 do a rolling one month contract cherisong, so you're only committed to a month at a time? Not quite as cheap as the 12 month one, but might be worth investigating? (they also do a £10 a month one for 12 months - might not be too bad to commit to?)0

I *have* to get my mobile phone situation sorted out. Do your phones have web access? I'm wondering about buying one - I may *need* one if I do the trading, so I can do it online, but I'm not sure yet.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Hard one with phones - I've an iphone with a contract (35/month) but thinking of either changing to a minimum contract (15) or upgrading phone to an iphone 4 and keeping contract but selling phone
