Right then, jumping back in here to get a bit of a hold of myself and give myself a bit of a shake!

I've done about an hour of writing today :o That does not a PhD make!

However - it does make a good start :D (see that positive thinking there rather than beating myself up?? :rotfl:)

I'm struggling to concentrate, sitting in front of the computer ambling round the internet, not getting on, like I used to in the Old Days :o However, that was before I got rid of my procrastination and became a competent member of the human race, remember??! :rotfl:

So, I just came in here to remind myself that I do in fact sit down at my desk and work now, and that I *am* capable of getting both this chapter, and the entire PhD, written (although not all today).

So, I'm going to put my "working" CD on, and work for the entire time (40 mins). Then I'm going to make a quick cuppa, and come back and work for another 40 mins.

By then it'll be knocking on for half 3, and I'll get Mr Daffs and pop out for a little walk to get some milk and a treat :D

Then I'll come back and do another 3 rounds of the CD, and by then I will have done my 4 hours writing for the day, my chapter will have progressed a lot even if it's not finished, and I will be a lot more satisfied and able to go to the pub this evening with a satisfied smile on my face :D

    Sound like a plan??

  • Sounds like plan! Small chunks! It's exactly what I do with my kids at school - give them small goals and a timer! They get so overwhelmed that they can spend hours staring into space panicking if you don't focus them!

Am very excited on your behalf about the trapeze! I help out at a kids circus club every week and really want to find the space, time and money to go to the adults circus so that I too can do trapeze! I also want to learn to jive but both fall on a Friday night so I have to make a choice about which one to do first!

Great plan, I did something similar this morning. Aiming to head out myself about 3.30 for some fresh air. Still feeling yuk but trying not to give in to it.

My light has a mind of its own, entirely unconnected to my behaviour, honest gov :D

I'm excited about trapeze too Ruby :D We've got a circus school here (well, the other side of town) - I might have a go and decide I don't like it, but it was something I promised myself as entirely frivolous and wholly unconnected to PhD, so that's what I'll do :D

Done my first 40 mins :T Got a whole section rewritten! :j :j :j Quick cuppa, then another one :T

Enjoy your walk cherisong, take it easy xx

Trapeze lessons! That sounds scary! (and wonderfully, eccentrically (sp??) mad! :p) Is that an entirely good idea if you don't like heights though? :rotfl:

Mind you, I'm hoping to start working on (small!) ice skating jumps after Xmas so probably don't qualify as entirely sane myself... especially as the last time I fell on ice I broke my wrist! :rotfl:

Please be careful! You need stay in 1 piece for your viva! :p

Pippi's thread has gone? :( Poooooo! I hope she is ok...

I don't have much of a problem with heights really - but I do have rather an issue with hurting myself - I don't like it very much! :rotfl:

Strangely enough, the first time I was allowed to go ice skating I broke my wrist in the first 5 minutes :D I was 18, and I'd never been allowed before because my mum always said I'd do myself a mischief :rotfl: Bless her, she didn't *quite* say 'I told you so'... :rotfl: A few years later I had ice skating lessons, was terrified, but HAD to not let it beat me - I went for five weeks, had a great time twirling around and everything, didn't break anything, and have never been again since :D

Please be careful! You need stay in 1 piece for your viva! :p

Fortunately I don't - viva is already done and dusted (a year ago next week  ) - these are the end of my major corrections, and I don't need to have another viva :D (I would like to stay in one piece regardless though :rotfl:)

Pippi's alright, she's had her thread deleted, she'll back again soon with another one, I'll give a shout out here when I know in case anyone else misses it.

Right, cuppa done (rather longer than planned, but that's still ok), now back to it for another 40 mins before a little stroll :T
