    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Been popping in and out for fortification :D

    I don't think today's going to go down in history as the world's most productive day, but given that my only goals this morning were:

    * get SOME phd done, and
    * be kind to myself

    I think I'm doing alright! :j

    One thing I've really noticed these past few weeks, that's really helped with this PhD, is that I seem to have lost the little voice inside my head that says 'you've only done one page, that's rubbish, you can't even work for an hour without having a break, I don't know how you're ever going to finish this thing, you're not clever enough, blah blah blah'...

    (actually, Mr Daffs told me off for saying 'lost' - he reckons I've worked very hard to get rid of it and it's finally paying off :D :T)

    I can't believe what a difference it makes! It's so much easier to write when you're not filled with dread, when you're not so emotionally attached to what you're writing that you're too frightened to write anything at all, and when even if you don't start writing til 2pm you don't immediately start beating yourself up about it - meaning you can still get several hours done in a day! :T

    I have absolutely no idea how I got rid of it, I've been trying for YEARS. Partly the positivity in here, partly the confidence of the new job and actually feeling like others feel I'm *competent* for a change, and partly just all those years of telling myself...

    Anyway, not going to analyse it too much, just going to appreciate it, and work VERY hard on not letting it back in! :beer:

    Going to head down for a hot chocolate in a minute :D I can tell I'm poorly - I've barely felt like eating anything all day, and I didn't have any tea last night - not like me at all! :eek: Had a couple of lime marmalade pancakes for breakfast :D And some noodles and cheese at about 12, but that's it :eek: And I'm still not hungry - would normally be ravenous by now :o

    (oh, and I had a finger of fudge too - forgot about that :rotfl: :rotfl:)

    Hi Cheery Daff!

    Hope you are feeling better, and your penultimate post reminds me so much of myself that it's scary. :eek:

    Hope you feel more positive about the pHD, and perhaps you might like to check out 'The Now Habit: A Strategic Program for Overcoming Procrastination and Enjoying Guilt-free Play' by Neil A. Fiore, which I was recommended by a fellow forumite for those days when it seems hard to get your bum on a chair and writing...;)

    Aww, Cheery, I'm glad you've found what seems to be *permanent* positivity - cheery through and through! It makes the whole of life easier, as you say.

    You must have needed it really badly - don't push through it, if you've slept that much, thats what you need.

    Hey Cheery

    Hope you feel better soon, blergh to horrible colds. But yay to treats from Mr Daffs - and of course to lots of restorative naps and long snoozes.

    I'm back in Kathmandu and leaving Nepal in just over 12 hours -

    My travelling companion is off to sri Lanka to sit on a beach for a couple of weeks and I'm heartily jealous!!!

    We have had a most amazing time in Chitwan though. We stayed at a place in the national park and it was so organised, we went on jungle walks, jeep safari, birdwatching walks and an elephant trek. We didn't see lots of big stuff but we did see a mama rhino and her baby!!!

    We also saw monkeys, deer, lots of birds, plenty of butterflies and some crazy caterpillars!

    We were so lucky, in our little group were a Polish couple and a Spanish woman and we all got on so well. It was so nice to make new friends and I hope we'll keep in touch.

    The big highlight, (along with the rhino;s) was elephant bath-time - so much fun and the elephants are gorgeous.

    Just enough time now for a dinner, last minute shopping and then off early tomorrow morning to the airport.
    I've got my own flat :j:j

    Now I have to pay the bills :eek:

    And feed my interiors addiction ;)
