    Some of the sugar got rescued, rather a lot of it was on the floor though, and though I occasionally eat bread etc dropped on the floor, even I wouldn't stretch as far as sweeping the sugar back into the bowl :rotfl:

    Not doing too well on the list today! :o

    50 day challenge goals for today:

    * people into framework - [STRIKE]nine[/STRIKE], ten, eleven, twelve
    * mind map planning for whole 50 days, and for week
    * contact pippi and decide dates of holiday!
    * find notebook to use as Christmas planning journal
    * Shred day 28!

    Manageable, I think! :T :T

    Other things for today...

    * [STRIKE]post amazon parcel (already packed and waiting)[/STRIKE]
    * washing
    * unpack bag from weekend away :o
    * sort clothes/lunch for work tomorrow
    * [STRIKE]collect plants from friend's house[/STRIKE]

    Oh dear, don't seem to have done very much at all! :rotfl: I can feel an evening of activity coming on :D

    What I *have* done though is been on a tiny mini spending spree :D Spied a skirt in a charity shop this morning, but didn't try it on after last week's 'episode' :o But thought about it all afternoon, thought about how frumpy I often feel at the minute not being able to wear a lot of my clothes, thought about how professional I felt at this event yesterday (:T)...

    then remembered what I'd said about spending my 'unnecessary' money on occasional clothes etc, rather than just cups of tea :D

    So I popped back in and got it :D Then I popped into another shop, thinking 'I could do with a plain black top to go with this and the two other skirts that fit me' - and found one :D Then, since I was on a roll, had a sneaky look at the jeans, which I've been looking for forever, and found a pair of those too :D

    So, in total I've spent:

    £4 - Navy Hobb mid-calf length skirt, heavy, swirly, cotton lining, with white embroidery and blue lace round the bottom
    £3.99 - Red Herring flared jeans
    £2.99 - black Marks and Spencer stretchy jumper

    So just shy of £11, well spent I think! :T :T

    (also picked up 4 free houseplants from friend's house :T

    Right - WORK! :o

    Ok, moving on a little bit :T

    Mr Daffs now isn't going out this evening, cheery because I get company :T but not so cheery because he was looking forward to it, and I tend to get more done when he's not here! :rotfl: Never mind, plodding on regardless...

    50 day challenge goals for today:

    * people into framework - [STRIKE]nine[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]ten[/STRIKE], eleven, twelve
    * mind map planning for whole 50 days, and for week (might end up doing this on the train to work tomorrow :o)
    * contact pippi and decide dates of holiday!
    * find notebook to use as Christmas planning journal
    * Shred day 28! (might have to save this for another day now :o

    Other things for today...

    * [STRIKE]post amazon parcel (already packed and waiting)[/STRIKE]
    * washing - in machine :j
    * unpack bag from weekend away :o (oops, should have done this before putting washing on! :rotfl:)
    * sort [STRIKE]clothes[/STRIKE]/lunch for work tomorrow

    Right, back to it :j

    Ok, that's me done for the day :T One more person to put into framework, but it's far too late for that now. Haven't done Shred, but planning to walk to station, to work, then back to station again tomorrow, which will overall take about 2.5 hours :eek: so might be forgiven :D Will do PhD planning on the train, and Christmas planning on the train home :D Wil text pippi too (you out there girl??).

    So things still progressing, even if not all to plan :D

    Going on statistics course tomorrow - :eek: Ooh, and got a meeting booked in for 3.45 about this potential work on the other project, fingers crossed and cheery vibes please! :j :j :j If we need to be specific, it's that they think my proposal of 3 days a week for a year, then 5 days for the second year will fit in with the project, and that everyone's happy (properly happy) with me working at home for at least 2 days a week, and that the other woman is cheery and good to work with :j :j :j

    hope your meeting went well today. Sorry i've been reading and running but for some reason have felt a bit blergh for absolutely no reason.
    ok there may be a reason, they announced a reorganisation at work and plenty of job cuts. Ok i worked on the project but to know that it's gonna happen (even though i knew it would) is horrible, it's sort of made it Real i guess.

    (((((((LT)))))))))) fingers crossed for you xx Oh! And I still haven't PMed you! :o MUST do that this morning (although when I do you'll wonder what all the fuss is about, it's not remotely exciting!) :rotfl:)

    Loooong day yesterday. Decided to walk to work rather than taking my bike (well, walk to the station, not all 60 miles :eek:). Left home at 6.15, got to desk at 9.15 :eek: But that involved about 2 hours of walking, which was remarkably relaxing actually! But then 5.5 hours of stats course :eek: plus this meeting about other project, and lots of catching up to do, then walking back to the station, then going straight out to a gig and not getting home til 11.30 meant it was rather a long day all in all! :rotfl:

    Anyway - meeting went well, I was officially offered (and accepted) 2 years of full time work :D :eek: So 2 days on current project, 3 days a week on new one, from 1st Jan 2011 until end jan 2012, then 10 months of 5 days a week on new project. Finished end of November 2012, just in time to have a couple of months off over Christmas :D (with nothing to go back to, of course, but I'll worry about that nearer the time :rotfl:)

    Not entirely sure how I feel about it. Feels *great* to be offered, and I'm really pleased :T And I do LOVE working there, I can work at home at least 2 days a week, have 2 months of holidays (:eek:) etc etc, but still fairly ambivalent about working full time :o Feels better that it's a fixed term thing though, and that the first year or so will be on two different projects.

    Partly though I feel guilty because other people's jobs are in jeapoardy and here's me just being offered one on a plate without even applying for it :o And I feel incredibly guilty at the prospect of *earning* so much :o :rotfl:

    And I'm a little bit :eek: because it means this is *real* and this darn PhD has to be over and done with! :eek:

    So - today's plan...

    PhD
    - last person into framework
    - list of associations
    - chapter headings
    - list of findings
    - plan for meeting on Monday with examiner
    - 50 day plan for weeks and whole thing

    Other stuff
    - visit friend for a cuppa :D
    - sort out holiday dates
    - 15 mins of deciding Christmas presents

    That'll do for now I think! Best crack on...

    Great news on the job - congratulations! :T

    You obviously really enjoy the work so hopefully it won't be too much of a hardship working full time :) And don't dare feel guilty - you clearly deserve this opportunity. Well done you!

    please don't ever feel guilty on my behalf, i certainly wouldn't begrudge you a full time job of your dreams. I've yet to find the job of my dreams but i generally do like working where i am, it's much better than the other places that i have worked.

    Thanks LT :o I think there's still a small part of me that has the working class family "people like us don't do things like that" attitude :o Not helped by the fact that for the first time ever I'll be earning more than all the rest of my family (and about the same amount as my sister's husband - but they're 'poor' of course because they have a large mortgage and three children, so that doesn't count...).

    I remember once having a conversation with my mum's sister about potentially going to do a graduate training thing after finishing university (I went to work in a bar and do full time voluntary work in the end :rotfl:). It was going to pay £17,000. She was outraged, because her husband had worked in a factory for years, and never got anywhere near earning that much, and it wasn't fair. So I still have a feeling of 'I don't deserve this'.

    In fact, I haven't even told her yet :o (although all this was years ago, she'll be pleased for me I know (even if there is residual grumpiness), and I kind of agree with her about her husband's job). Haven't told my dad's side of family either, partly cos he's drifting between being unemployed and knocking old bricks out of a building to replace them with new ones they've knocked out of another building :o

    Bleurgh, think I'm drifting back towards hormonal negativity today! Panicky thoughts about PhD keep drifting in, and I have to keep shoooing them out again :o :rotfl: Need a bit of a plan to get me through the rest of the day I think.

    I've got 4 pages of transcript left to do - which won't take more than 30 minutes, and then that's the whole lot of that done. I'm going to meet a friend for a cuppa at 2, she's a friend from Al Anon, and so will undoubtedly give me a friendly and kind talking to about my attitude about this job :D

    Then back to it, armed with paper and pens, for mind mapping my 50 day (phd) challenge to make it manageable :j :j :j
