Thanks Redsquirrel
(do you prefer redsquirrel? Or red? Or Squirrel??)
I *am* quite cheery today :j Not quite sure why! Lovely morning, pottering afternoon, just settling in for a couple of hours of work (oops, been a little neglectful of that today, but rather than beating myself up, going to cheerfully get on with some now! :T)
Then an evening with Mr Daffs - a nice risotto, hot chocolate, a film we started watching last week and didn't finish, oh, and 58 limes to make into marmalade! :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Glad the appt went well. Lime Marmalade, that sounds really lovely. I love limes, key lime pie, lime marmalade, chocolate limes, Well just limes really :rotfl::rotfl:
No need to beat yourself up Cheery you have had a very productive week with your writing from what I have read. It seems that you are finding your way forward and getting the balance right. Good for you. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
Hey Cheery
Glad to hear that you are feeling productive and getting things done - well done!!! (imagine that as a nice cup of tea served from a lovely red teapot)
Re: Nepal, thank you all for your lovely comments. I'm very excited and scared (and currently quite overwhelmed as have a ton of things to do before I go away - TONIGHT!!)
I don't think I'll be able to do a blog while I'm away as my to do list is already massive and setting up a blog just ain't gonna happen. Plus I don't think I'll get tons of computer access.
However, yet again hijacking your thread, I could come on here and just do some update posts when I get the chance?? Is that OK Cheery??
My flight is at 9.30pm tonight and I fly to Delhi and I'm going to meet my friend there for our flight to Kathmandu. We've got three days there before flying to Lukla on Wednesday morning to start our trek.
So exciting!!!
Anyway I'm off now to the post office to post my taste radar for Oct, to collect a book I ordered from Amazon and then to Tesco to stock up on energy boosting chocolate.
And finally, to keep this on a MSE track - I went to Tesco Express yesterday and got two cheese pizzas for 34p each, reduced from £2.25. Then they had a 2 for £4 deal on them so that got me a further 50p off so I got two pizzas for 18p :j:j
I was so happy, my usual tesco normally just gives us rubbish discounts, so was happy enough with the mega discounting of the pizzas in the first place!!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0 -
What a lovely few posts to read! Makeup, if you're back here before you go off, have a wonderful, wonderful time, I'm *so* pleased for you.
And for you Cheery! You've got your mum there, *and* an exhibition with a name like Teatopia :rotfl: its just so appropriate for you, its wonderful!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Oooh makeup, yes, oF COURSE you must come in here and post updates! :j :j :j Can't wait to hear how you get on, and have a lovely time :T :T :T
Thanks KCMy mum's coming tomorrow, but I've had a lovely morning with friends today, at the WI, charity shopping, soup and pancakes for lunch, and now settling in with a cuppa to start on this pesky lime marmalade  Did lighten the burden slightly by giving my friend about 10 limes to take away with her - saves me chopping them :rotfl: Might knock up a lime drizzle cake too
Mr Daffs is doing a gig tonight which I'm planning to go and watch, so will have to get all dressed up for that at some point too!Might even splash out and put my corset on

Right then
Just been working out how much money we need for our Christmas holidays! :j :j :j :j :j Sooooooo excited! :j :j :j
So (this is between two of us):
£112 return ferries
£165 diesel there, back, and about 150 miles of detours
= £277
So my half of that is £138.50
We'll take a picnic on the way there, and another on the way back :j The journey will take more than a day - we'll kip in the van (and stay at a friend's on the way back) so no cost there.
We've got £25 counted in 1ps and 2ps between us :rotfl: Plus about £20 from taste radar :j Plus half a jar of change not counted yet - so that'll be at least £50 for cheery spends between us :j :j
We're going to be away for over two weeks altogether what with getting there and back and everything, so I'll also have 2 weeks food budget (£25 a week) plus 2 weeks of £10 unnecessary spends - so that's, er, £70 in my spending/food money pot already! :j :j
So, according to my (complete back of envelope) calculations, for everything else, and not including what I've already got, I'll need to save another £250 between now and Christmas.
I'm getting paid at the end of October, and the end of November (and the end of December, of course, but not going to count that one!) - so that's two paydays, which is £125 per pay day.
I get paid £780 a month. November has 5 weeks in it (I budget for 5 weeks each month) which means after bills/trains/spends etc I'll have £95
December has 4 weeks in it :j Which means after bills etc I'll have £160
Added together, that makes £255 I reckon
However... I'm not going to work at least 1 day in NOvember, saving a budgeted £12.50 - which can go towards the knickers fundIn December I'll be missing two whole weeks of work
Which means £50 more - which can go towards knickers or Christmas presents :j
Any spare between now and then (I budget £25 a week for trains, but booking in advance I can do it for £21.60) can go towards either knickers or presents:j
I reckon we're sorted :j :j
(just got to stick to the budget now! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:)
Haven't *quite* got round to the marmalade yet...:rotfl:

sounds like a very well thought out budget for your christmas holiday, and for your knickers lol must be very special ones if you need a budget for them0
-
They're not special at all LT, that's the problem! :rotfl: They're all grey and falling apart and full of holes
So I've vowed to replace them ALL between now and new year (and all bras too!) with well fitting and fabulous underwear, and to wear nothing else in 2011
(well, no other kind of underwear, that is - obviously I will be wearing clothes too! :rotfl:)
But that kind of underwear replacement project, with my kind of, er, ample sized busomrequires a budget all of its own...

Thats a very impressive budget-planning post! You *are* going to post a pic of those posh knickers aren't you? :rotfl:
Cheery, I have to ask - where on earth did you acquire 58 limes?2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
The best thing to do with 58 limes (or however many you have left), that involves very little effort is to just slice them and bung them on a tray in the freezer.....I use them in place of icecubes or take a handfull out to defrost and use as required."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W.
