It's a little on the bitter side, but just tastes like Very Posh Marmalade, so we're convincing ourselves we paid £4 a jar for it, and considering it a bargainous luxury :rotfl: :rotfl:
That sounds great!
Seems to be a bit of a theme with parents! Perhaps I should stop being so fiercly independentBut I've emailed her with prices and options (she suggested the travelodge thing! I did warn her about the lack of free shampoo! :rotfl:). I actually offered to pay for her half if I'm working full time by then - which probably wouldn't help matters :rotfl:
You nutter :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

She's emailed back with enthusiasm though so it looks like we're on(didn't mention the paying bit! :rotfl:)
Right, gone into slightly gloomy mode here, a bit of worrying about my mum, a bit of having to get ready for work tomorrow, a bit of Mr Daffs going out to have fun and leaving me behind:rotfl:
So - need a pulling socks up moment. There's things to do and a house to myself to enjoy! :j So, here's the plan (with timings, because sometimes you just need to hold your own hand a little bit more through the evening...)
7.45-8.15 put away clothes in bedroom, pick shoes for tomorrow, iron skirt and table cloth (!), pack bag
8.15-8.45 cut out felt for tea cosy! :j and spend 10 minutes on friend's daughter's birthday present that I've been putting off
8.45-9.15 shred day 24 (about a month after day 23) The less said about this one the better!
9.15-10 cheery soak in the bath :T
10pm curl up on sofa with hot chocolate and some daft tv :T
Sounds like a plan to me! :T0 -
Good planning Cheery, seems that lots of people feel a bit down on a Sunday night. I have always loved Sundays, last day of freedom as far as I can see it. Most of my friends and family are grump pots on Sunday night. Must be because they are thinking the weekend is over before it actually is!Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0

I think there certainly is an element of having to get ready for work... however, I am only working one day this week, and I really do enjoy my job, so I really have no excuse! :rotfl:
Not *quite* going to plan, but getting there

9.15-10 cheery soak in the bath - this one might turn into a quick shower - possibly in the morning

Not looking too good is it??!Still, just going to iron skirt, pack bag, and then the dreaded shred...

Morning Daff - most people call me Red or Squizz
Your weekend sounds really good - sorry you didn't get to go on the Wheel (no way you'd get me on there lol - scary!)
That is such a bargain on the limes! :T The cake sounds amazing and so does the marmalade.

Greeetings from Nepal! Well I arrived yesterday evening and it has been such an experience so far! My flight was long but not too bad and I met my friend in Delhi with no problems. We took the short flight to Kathmandu and our taxi was waiting to whisk us to the hotel (included in price of room). The hotel is very nice, free internet, free water (tap water is seriously bad here) and a really nice restaurant (dinner for 2quid and the same for breakfast) Today we met our guide and sorted out some stuff for the trek. I had a minor silly panic as not properly worked out my money and realised that I need to put the trek on my credit card which will incur extra fees but I think it will be worth it! Katmandu is very loud, dusty and manic....the cars / scooters/ bikes stop for nothing and squeeze through the tiniest spots and the pedestrians just make the best of it as there are not many pavements. It is all a big shock to the system for me but my friend has been in Mumbai and apparently it is even worse ..... the car horns are incessant. There are a lot of really nice shops here selling amazing pictures, textiles, clothes, bags, carvings and other stuff which will be perfect for presents. Lots of real pashminas and the prices seem really good. There were some really lovely puppets with two faces for about 3 pounds each. We're saving the shopping for when we come back from our trek though. In the afternoon we went to Durbar Square which is a world heritage site with lots of temples and houses the old Palace. It is an amazing site, really interesting buildings but there were so many people trying to get us to ride rickshaws, take a taxi or hire them as a guide. I was ready to come home. This evening we went out for a chilled meal which was good and I'm going to have a nice early night again as still tired.Tomorrow I think we'll do some kind of walking tour or maybe visit an old buddhist temple nearby. The trek is becoming very real indeed!!!Anyway, I hope this post works as the internet here is a bit slow. And have some lime marmalade on a crumpet with a nice cup of tea for me (believe me, tea here is nothing like at home and not in a good way!!! hot lemon all the way)I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0 -
Cool makeup - well done! Nice to hear you're there safe and well and looking forward to hearing more!

Oooh makeup! :T :T How lovely to hear from you so soon! :j :j Sounds like you're having a fab, if exhausting, time! :j :j Take lots of pictures, I'm most jealous!
Feels all very exotic having you pop in here:rotfl:
Back to relatively mundane reality... had a slightly bizarre experience at work today.
Had a supervision with the boss, who told me how fabulous I amand then offered me another 3 days a week work - for the next 2 years :j :j :j As my current contract is 2 days a week (40%) til Jan 2012, and the new one would be 3 days a week (60%) until Jan 2013, that means full time for the whole of 2011, and then 3 days a week for the whole of 2012 :j :j :j
We spent time discussing in detail how I wouldn't want to go to York more than 3 days a week so would have to work at home the other 2 days
HOWEVER (and this is a pretty big however :rotfl:) I then asked when it started (having pretty much said yes) - she checked the proposal...... and realised the post was actually 80% (FOUR days a week) not 60%
Poor woman was so embarrassed :rotfl: But as she'd just told me how great I was, and how absolutely perfect for the joband how I'd pretty much said yes already
I think she'll work extra hard to figure out some kind of solution (whether that be splitting the 80% into two 40% posts and I'll do 4 days a week, or finding someone else to do 1 day and I'll do an extra 3, or whatever).
So - fingers crossed guys and girls! :j :j0 -
