All right then, I'm off to Nepal on Saturday.

    I'm going for 4 weeks.

My friend has been working in Bali teaching English and his contract was up in September and he didn't renew. He's currently doing lots of Yoga in India.

We're meeting in Delhi aiport on Sunday morning and we fly to Kathmandu together (we're both really excited about the jet set glamour of meeting in an airport!!)

We spend a few days in Kathmandu and then we fly to Lukla to start the Everest Base Camp trek. It is really exciting we're trekking through the plains and then up through the himalayas. It is going to be quite tough (massive understatement I think) but I've been going to the gym regularly since January so that has to help (although I've not lost as much weight as I'd have like to).

We've hired our own guide and porter which sounds really extravagant but is costing £700 for two weeks of trekking inc. accommodation, meals, flights to Lukla, permits and other bits and bobs.

This means we can take it at our own pace and build in a few days of chilling as and when we need them.

This has been a really big year for me and it probably isn't the most sensible decision spending wise. I'm probably going to have to put some stuff on credit card but I'm all set for a frugal 2011 and ready to deal with it!

However it was an opportunity I couldn't pass by, I'm lucky in that my work allows you take your leave all at once (I get 28 days and I'm taking 20 in this time) and so none of my other friends are likely to be in this position so I wouldn't have anyone else to go with.

Thanks for the info about the book, it did look a bit ridiculous when i got it but I'm looking forward to doing a bit of reflection in the mountains! Shall report back if it works as well for me as it did for you, Karmacat.
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

WOW, (where is the open mouthed smiley) WOW, I am so pleased for you as the excitement is there in every word you wrote. HOW, might I ask, have you kept this to yourself? Will you be keeping a blog or sharing a diary with us when you come back? If you can manage a blog in some way I want to sign up. WOW

WOW makeup! :j That sounds utterly fab, and I reckon you were absolutely right to take the opportunity when it was offered to you! :j :j Well done! :j :j Yes, you must let us know all about it, have a marvellous time! :j

Internet's playing up here a bit this morning, but it's a gorgeously sunny day, and i'm going to have a productive and positive one :j :j

Things that must be done today...

    * 4 hours PhD (of course)!
    * hospital for blood tests (will take PhD with me as there's usually quite a wait!)
    * take books back to supervisor
    * print meeting lists off (these two don't have to be done today, but the hospital is quite close so I might as well)
    * visit woman I used to work for for a nice cup of tea tonight :)

So not a bad day I don't think! Best crack on though - in fact, best get to the hospital first or I'll be sat in a queue for the entire afternoon! :rotfl:

Makeup, thats brilliant! You can't pass up something like that, of course you can't. I can't believe you've kept quite about that :) And absolutely, let us know if you keep a blog.

You're welcome about the Celestine Prophecy - midway through the book, there's a whole section on how important it is to be in the mountains :) I think you might like that bit :):)

Well, today's not turned into the most productive one, but I'm avoiding talking negatively to myself (which is half the battle!) and there's still plenty of time yet! :T

Gorgeously sunny here, had a lovely walk out in it earlier. Pretty nippy though!

My aim is to have my chapter finished and handed in by the end of today. Right now I'm wavering between thinking that's completely possible, and thinking it's completely impossible :o So, instead of wavering, I'm going to decide it IS possible and get on with it instead of thinking about it! :T

I've also decided I'd quite like to go to another Al Anon meeting tonight. I usually only go to one a week, although occasionally slot in an extra one. Far too many things have been going round in my head lately, and Mr Daffs did say earlier I was very incredibly analytical with myself about even tiny little aspects of my behaviour, which for me is a symptom of head mangling :o It's one thing keeping an eye out to make sure you're not behaving daftly, and quite another to be absolutely obsessed with what every little feeling means!

So - a little calming meeting will do me the world of good :T However, it starts at 7.15, and is on the other side of town, so in order not to rush I'd have to leave at 6.50, and would need a quick bite to eat first.

So - here I am at my desk at 4.30. I am saying out loud - I will finish and send my phd chapter before 6.30, and then I will go to the Al Anon meeting tonight :T

Does that make it more likely to happen??

It does make it more likely to happen if you take notice of what you've just said!
