hey daffs, how's the banishing negativity going?

I was listening to a few of my albums whilst driving down to surrey earlier, and theres a song I was listening to that just really made me think. It was a song all about the small things we take for granted and you look around and see how happy other people are with their lot, who in fact have a lot less...... Makes me feel quite bad about being a grumplestiltskin yesterday for no reason, (well apart from hormones) and that I should really kick myself up the back side and get things organised and done!!

Anyways, hope you're having a lovely day, I hope its sunny where you are, it is gorgeous here, I can't wait for a bit later in the year when I can start sorting my veg patch for next year.

Thanks again for your kind words on my diary yesterday, they were so very much appreciated when I was having a huge grump, you are a star.

    'grumplestiltskin' :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    :D

Sometimes all we need is a little perspective - myself included! :D

Not so sunny here, but perfectly nice. I'm going to go out for a bit of a run later, feeling the need (again!) for less cake and more exercise... :o

So far this morning I've been reading a book about speed reading :D Figured with all the work I've got to do, being able to read a little faster wouldn't go amiss :rotfl:

Lodger hasn't been told yet... I think Mr Daffs' plan is to have words later tonight when everyone gets back from various activities. However, Mr Dafffs has had toothache all weekend - not particularly conducive to rational and nice conversation, so perhaps it will wait til Monday!

(can't believe it's half one already!)

Well then, here we are at the end of the day, and I thought a little update was in order :D Made a few decisions and come to a few conclusions today to :)

Had rather a lovely day. Sat in bed til about 11.30 reading 'The why are you here cafe' book from start to finish (and finding out that I have in fact already sussed out why I'm here and *most* of the things I do are the cheery things that I enjoy (and the *one* that isn't is working towards other cheerier things :D). Then read half of a book about speed reading and did some of the exercises :D

Tidied bedroom and changed sheets, then did a bit of PhD plotting and scheming. Friend (ex girlfriend of lodger) came for cuppa, then we went for a nice walk in the sunshine in the park overlooking the peak district and watched the sun setting :T Spoke to sister and dad on the phone, had nice healthy tea with Mr Daffs and just done a couple of hours of PhD! :j :j

    So, I've figured out:

    * everything is alright really :rotfl:

    * According to my PhD chart of what needs doing (from January), I have 31 days of things left to do (I allocated times to each action - haven't managed to stick to them, but they're not unreasonable, so from now on I will be! :T). If I take out the 2 days a week that I work, there's 50 days between now and when I want to submit  That's enough time to (just!) finish all the revisions, and revise them as I go along. Just.

    * took time out of writing to work on research aim and analysis for a couple of hours. Very productive and feel better about whole thing.

    * I'm going to give up taste radar (after a grand total of one month! :o) £25 a month is a lot, and it was going to go towards Christmas spending money, but the past two months of keeping receipts has shown that we actually don't spend £25 on fruit and veg in supermarkets (mosty get from greengrocers). At work I (think!) earn £25 in about 2 hours - taste radar is taking more than 6 hours a month to input (and there's only me doing it) - right now that isn't a productive use of time.

Feeling a bit better about all that!

Time to stop now anyway, go and get a cuppa, make lunch, figure out what to wear tomorrow, adn have a nice early night! :T

I love that analysis of what you're doing and why, and what's productive, and alteringthings accordingly. Good for you!

Thanks KC, I worry it's really dull for folk sometimes :o But I actually love reading about what people are thinking/doing so then I figure it's alright :D :rotfl:

It really does help me soooooo much to sit down regularly and have a good look at what's happening, what i'm thinking, and whether there's anything I can change. I've changed so many things for the better since starting doing that! :T And it means I'm far more likely to think 'what can I do to change this?' rather than 'oh, woe is me!" (apart from the last couple of days of course, hormones aside! :rotfl:) Today was my mental 'sorting out' after a day/night of silly grumpiness and a day of nice calm cheeriness :D

Must go to bed soon though or tomorrow will be rather more difficult - train at 7.12am!

Well done on deciding to opt out of taste radar because it's not working for you. That's how I feel about toluna (survey site) and some mystery shopping companies. But others are really good so do keep looking out for something to replace taste radar with.

Thanks Mags and Missy! :T (and no, wasn't watching Essex things, I'm afraid I don't do tv except recorded episodes of the American version of Whose Line is it Anyway?, so I'm no good at discussing anything that was on last night, or in fact any other night :o :rotfl:)

Made an Executive Decision to get the later train this morning... :o (although stupidly didn't make it *before* I got up at 6.15! :rotfl:) I can *just* make it to the station in 20 mins, if I really dash, but I HATE dashing, and so the later train it is :D (I KNEW there was a reason I didn't get round to booking my ticket in advance yesterday! :rotfl:)

Right, suppose I'd best do something useful with the extra half an hour since I'm up... (in situations like this I usually end up dashing for the later train anyway, will aim not to do that today! :rotfl:)

Have a good one all :D

    Morning.
I also love reading your diary and the way that you figure things out. It sometimes spurs me into doing the same thing. I too have been having second thoughts about Taste Radar. I much prefer to buy from the local farm shops and greengrocers so I have found that I am going out of my way to buy the fruit and veg from local supermarkets and not enjoying the taste as much. So last month I didnt send off anything. I think I did it subconsciously though. Or would that be subconsciously consciously :) Never did get my head around that (is it Maslow?)

    No idea! :D

I've entered about £8 worth of receipts for September, probably got another £7 or 8 waiting to go in, but can't bring myself to do it! :o Might just get the £8 I've done posted off, seems silly to waste the effort, but then that'll be the end of it I think :)
