  • I also have been robbed by these bandits, they have taken £67.50 out of my bank account without my consent. Stay well clear of them, they will rob you. I just had a look on a loan website called 'The Loan Centre'. The site clearly state's NO UPFRONT FREE'S. I didn't use them for a loan but the next thing I know £67.50 is fraudulantly taken out of my bank account by their sister company called Cornwall Collections. I'll never give my bank account details upfront on any web site ever again. My bank's fraud department are now looking into it. I still can't believe they can get away with doing this to people, something needs to be done about them...
You need to go onto the Loan Centre website. E mail them and they will try and fob you off with a refund form. Tell them they are legally obliged to refund your money within 10 days. Don't be fobbed off. They still owe me £47.50 which they took on 28 August.

has anyone actually got an e-mail address for cornwall collections so I can rant at them. cheers
They trade under the name of the Loan Centre. Email them. They will try and fob you off with a refund form that you have to send by mail. I am informed they are legally obliged to refund your money within 10 days and not the 30 days they state.

Thanks for the advice, I have finally got them to email a refund form after alot of fobbing off, but they have stated it will take 30 days. No happy about this, I have emailed them back and insisted on a full refund within 10 days. The staff member dealing with my complaint is called Marvin Thomas (Loan-Centre.net-CustomerServices) ... I Still can't believe these bandits can get away with doing this to so many people. I think Martin Lewis should get on the case and get them fully exposed asap..!!!
  • Debbie,

Please stop saying that Loanfinder and Loan Centre (and Cornwall Collections) are linked as they are not. I also spoke to Consumer Direct and they never told you they they were linked either (A: because it is not true and B they cannot legally do so). I've used both and Loanfinder have been fine while Loan Centre has been nothing but a hassle. Get your facts straight before making bold statements that are untrue!!
  • Hi all. Finally got a call from a guy at the Loan Centre today. I wrote them a letter to 46 Alexandra Street, Southend of Sea, Essex SS1 1BJ. I stated in this letter that I wanted a complete refund of my money within 10 days of receipt of my letter (not 30 days). They have agreed to refund me and say they do a cheque run on Tues and Thurs (this suggests they are busy sending refunds)! I should receive a refund by end of next week. Consumer Credit say that if this does not happen contact them again and they will pass it on to my local council who will deal with via the Fair Trading department. I suggest everyone uses this route and lets see if anyone gets results. I am not holding my breath but am hoping to receive this cheque (they will not refund direct to my bank account). I will keep you informed.

Consumer Direct didn't tell me they were linked my bank did. On further research I see that they may not be. Loanfinder have told me that they are not. Consumer Direct have been very helpful and did not give me this information.

I agree the Loan Centre are nothing but hassle and I am spending a long time trying to assimilate my facts to get to the bottom of this. I am not trying to make bold statements and I trust you are not working for Loanfinder!!!

At last someone speaking sense, you can't go accusing people or companies who are not involved no matter what they have done in the past. I found loads of info about loan centre/veritable finance and they are nothing at all to do with the other bloke I said this a number of times. People are just gonna laugh at not knowing the correct facts and not take it seriously and it could end up the person accusing been in very serious trouble. I spent ages getting the info posting on here for people and it annoyed me that people didn't listen!!!!! Again the company search with all info need is posted on here along with other things found. I also posted the email on here that I was told consumer direct/OFT cannot legally say they are linked. I said on page 1 that they are not linked after alot of searching on the net. Cornwall Collections are a different company too who are employed to take the money - p1 again. If you send them a letter do it rec delivery but there is also another address. I used to do checks on companies where I used to work so did know the sort of thing needed to try and trace them, I just gave up when people weren't wanting the help. Eventually if you keep copies of letters forms sent a county court judgement could be done - this doesn't guarentee the money back though, but you do need to know all the facts for this.

Also look and they have now changed the site re the upfront fees.

This is also in the T&C but nothing about fees.

I sent a letter kept a copy and received a phone call from them last Thursday. They are apparently issuing me with a refund which I "should" receive by the end of this week. The guy at the Loan Centre did confirm that they are a group of companies including Cornwall Finance (which showed on my bank statement). I will keep you informed as to when or if I receive a cheque. The Consumer Credit people did indeed say that they cannot confirm either way about these people. They have asked me to inform them if I do not receive a refund by Friday and they will contact my local Council for me who will deal with it via Trading Standards. Thanks for your help.

Has anyone heard of or had a problem with this company? I stupidly gave out my details when applying for a loan. They are now taking funds from my debit card as a "subscription". I can't trace them or find a number for them. Have been onto bank who said they would stop the transaction but they company applied for it again. I have cancelled my debit card, had a new one re-issued. I have been onto CAB, OFT, Consumer Direct etc who are trying to help.
