That babies don't perform on demand.
My Mam is desperate to feel my baby kicking. I told her it always has a bit kick after I've had my tea, so she called in this evening. She sat for 2 hours and nothing happened. She's gone now, and I think the little monkey is doing the can can in my belly right now  :rotfl:Here I go again on my own....0 -
I was also told to stop screaming and save my energy for pusing dd out....by a male doctor. Swine, what the hell does he know?? Typical man."I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0

Hubby asked last night "what's a cervix?" so I explained. Then he asked "so what does 3cm dilated mean and how do they measure it?". I explained about the cervix opening before birth, but then I told him they measured it with a Helix ruler. He believed me, until I burst out laughing
:rotfl:
I have told him the truth now
what do they measure it with?:j Baby bonce was born on Christmas morning after a ridiculously short labour and no pain relief! If only losing the baby weight was as easy!:T0 -

Yes Suzey, the front bottom piles went as soon as I gave birth. PHEW!!!
No one should read this thread until after they have given birth!
So pleased you said this. I also have them and am desperatley hoping they go away after delivery.
Currently 35 weeks pregnant and by far the worse for me is the agonising pain of SPD not being helped by baby being transverse. Even worse then the 'front bottom' piles.
I have an 8 year old daughter and the worse bit during delivery for me was being led to believe that anyone would be remotely intereted in the birth plan that you spent ages writing. In fact my whole set of notes went missing only to be found the day after I gave birth! I ended up on my back on a bed with a monitor attached to her scalp. When I eventually reached the pushing stage no-one would believe me. I buzzed for a midwife and told her I needed to push and she told me not to be silly and that I could'nt possibly tell anyway as I'd had an epidural.
I told her I could feel it and that it felt like I wanted to do a massive poo. She again said I must be imagining it as I was only 4 cms dilated about 30 mins before this and that I couldn't possibly be ready to push, with that she turned and left the room. I started to get upset and made my husband buzz again. This time she came back and told me to stop fussing, it was only as another midwife came in to the room that my daughters monitor fell off her head. I heard the 2nd midwife say 'thats odd that usually happens when they're about to crown' and she came to check the monitor. It all than went mad as she looked and said 'god its heads here'
I remember just feeling overwhelming relief that someone believed me. I was told not to push for a few minutes as I had to wait for the paediatriction to arrive. She arrived at 5.20am and told me I could push, DD was born at 5.23am after 3 pushes, midwife 1 then joked that it was quick and asked if I had another 6 at home! Its a good job Id just given birth! It still bothers me when I think about how I was ignored. I guess the moral is that they are not always right. 1st labours do not always follow a set pattern. I wish I knew that as believed everything I was told with DD. Not so this time, I will be far more assertive if necessary.0 -

oh lord no. but oh! what a lovely image.. lady lying there, legs akimbo, grunting, anxious father-to-be next to her, while midwife rolls out the tape measure... eyes of both mother and father to be slowly popping out of their heads!!!

Don't think anyone else has mentioned the veins that come up on your boobs so that they resemble a large ripe stilton. And no-one told me how much your hair would grow - and I'n not talking about on your head!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0

No body told me I would never be able to do star jumps again without wetting myself, My youngest is 2 and oldest is 14.
Are you doing your pelvic floor exercises? I know that they are a pain to remember and if you've just given birth you wonder whether there are any muscles there anymore but they do help. The best thing to do is find something that you do every day and do the exercises at the same time - I've friends who do them in the car on the way to work, whilst reading the bedtime story, hoovering - me, I do them sparodically when I remember.
The exercises are also supposed to help with piles too although I find cypress (essential) oil is wonderful at shrinking them.
Get a 50ml brown medicine bottle from the chemist and fill with water. Add 1 (and I mean ONLY 1, that area of your anatomy is VERY delicate) drop of essential oil. Leave the bottle in the bathroom and every time you use the loo, give the bottle a shake to disperse the oil, dampen a piece of toilet paper and dab it on the problem area.
I put a few drops of lavender, cypress and tea-tree in my baths for several weeks after giving birth. Lift you hips to the surface and splash the water around (oils are dispersed on the surface). I can't be certain that this was the reason but after both births, the MW said I healed exceptionally quickly.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0
