I have not yet had the pleasure but, many close friends have and we do talk about it often, in plenty of detail...!

Imagine how horrified I was when I found out last year (at the age of 26) that you have to give birth to the afterbirth AFTER giving birth to the child. I was mortified! How on earth did I never hear of that before?!?!? All of the other stories didn't phase me. I was shocked at that one....! LMAO!!!

Still, the stories haven't put me off yet, hoping to try in the next year or so! :)

After a c cestion you get injections in the belly for a week.

I never had this after a C-Section and neither has anyone I spoke to who also had one... what was it for? I don't think it's something everyone has.

I had the injections after my c sec too. I think they are to stop blood clots, the only good thing about them is you have no felling in your belly so the jabs don't hurt!!

I am preg with no 2 now and forgot all the nice things about preg i am now rediscovering - yey!

Things that spring to mind are :

trapped wind after a C sec that feels like our arm is about to fall off- no joke but the nurses have some grim minty stuff that makes it better.

The fact that when baby is born via C sec there is a chance your 1st photo will be you and your OH faces, small baby, the drape to stop you seeing the op and then the top 3rd of the pic a graphic red mess that is your tummy being stiched back together over the top of the drape!!

Heartburn is evil and i controled it with fizzy water with lime juice in it.

i ask myself why am i doing it again? lol

I had the injections in my tummy after my c section and so did everyone on my ward-it is to stop clotting and it is not as bad as it sounds-I don't think it really hurt at all. I have given birth twice-once naturally and one section due to being brief and I had good experiences both times. I was worried about having the planned section to start with but it was a very calm experience-epidural and catheter were fine and I lay there looking at the clock not feeling a thing except a bit of tugging and wondering I wonder what time the baby will be born! The discomfort after was never unbearable. The only thing to warn people was that sometimes after a section your bladder doesn't always recover from the aneasthetic as quick as the rest of you so when they took the cather out i really needed to wee but my bladder wouldn't play ball. I lay there fretting that I would never wee again and also an emergency came in so noone could fit a new catheter for a couple of hours-agony! i'm happy to say a day later it was removed again and back to normal! Noone told me that could happen!

Ah I see, the injections are to prevent clots! Wonder why no-one round here has them then, maybe it depends of your local authority or something. I wasn't given anything for clotting.

_pale_:eek: I have just read the first few pages of this thread and my blood pressure went up and my heart rate is pounding haha!

I have no children as yet. Me and my OH do want them though.

But oh my god reading about what actually happens
    _pale_ _pale_ _pale_ :undecided

I'm not sure if it's better to know about it all and know what could and might happen. Or just not read every little thing that might happen and be worrying about it and getting stressed. :wall: :embarasse

I'm sure that when the time comes well you have no other choice but to 'go with the flow' ...... but blimey. For the women that have had more than one baby, it must be sooooo good after you've given birth to make you go through it all again!

Still want kids one day though ..... :)

these pains mrs moc are not just from c section , u get them after 2nd and future births as its your uterus shrinking back to original size and more babies , makes it stretch more and has more to shrink back too, i hate this part of after giving birth , i am now nearly due my 4 th baby and will have strong pain kilers ready and waiting

Maybe everyone gets it different, (luckily) I have had 4 children 2 CS and 2 VB and only had these pains with the last which was a CS.

it does sound so cliche, but it is so worth it! my friends think im crazy, DD is now 6, ds almost 3,
with DD i had almost every form of pain relief going, so hardly felt a thing, so when i was preg with ds i spent the whole pregnancy looking forward to labour! haha what an idiot!.
ds was 8 days late and 7lb5 (dd was only 6lb2) and after months of braxton hicks (dont listen to people who always say they dont hurt, i had soooo many times thinking oooo this is it!!) i went from 0-60 in what felt like 5 seconds! by the time i got to the hospital i was already 8-9cms dilated  so too late for an epi, ooooh i pleaded and begged but they wouldnt give me anything.
oh my god, i screamed like a banshee the whole time (im no good with pain) pooped, farted, you name it. I even had DH in a headlock with one arm and the gas and air in the other had at one point. thank god he was born two hours later! be warned, you do not have one iota of dignity in the labour ward!
would i go through it all again?

damn right, over and over! :D

Sky, don't worry! It sounds quite scary when everyone is talking about their problems but not everyone has these experiences. I have had 3 babies and honestly really had very few problems and quite a few of the other Mums that I know will say the same thing. I was never sick once [through 3 pregnancies] and was lucky enough to have 3 straightforward deliveries. The only problems I did have was heartburn [during all 3], which I am prone to anyway, and problems with my stitches after my 1st, which did heal up only took a little longer. I didn't even have stitches after my other 2.
There are actually women who love being pregnant and also, believe it or not, women who say their deliveries didn't hurt . Personally I wouldn't go that far but I wouldn't say it was unbearable either.
Now, I'm not trying to minimise anyone else's experiences or be competitive or upset anyone so hopefully noone gets that impression. All I am saying is don't assume you will neccesarily have problems at all. Just try not to worry, have an open mind and things may be a lot easier and enjoyable than you are expecting.
