Margaret the tensions seem very close and I wouldnt think it would be much size difference when you have finished it. My feeble brain ( not firing on all cylinders today) works it out as about 1/2 a cm difference in the 2.
Has anyone got Mrs Twinns adress that they could Pm me - I have searched my papers and cant find the flipping thing. I have parcels to go on Saturday and want to take hers with them xxx
Hope everyone has a peaceful weekend enjoying family time or whatever your plans are xxx We have Dgs 's birthday party on Monday though the big day is Wednesday and my Mum is coming down and staying the night here so massive clean -up this weekend :eek:Clearing the junk to travel light

Ginny, have pm'd you, I hope!
Let me know if it didn't work and I'll do it on the laptop, using the kindle just now.
Margaret - hello and welcome. I agree with Ginny, I don't think there would be a significant difference in size. Have just looked it up on Deramores site and I see they list King Cole chunky as an alternative. Have a look on Kemps website, they have quite a few chunky yarns in their special offers pages. You might pick up a bargain. Or you could try the Marriners yarns website, good value. I've used them a few times and can recommend them, quick delivery too.

GOOD FRIDAY - Good Morning
today I will be on the baking of the hot cross buns - well you have to have them!
it's a wee bit cloudy and overcast so perhaps I will garden later - when the sun comes out!
Margaret - welcome to you, see that PSSO and Ginnyknit have answered perfectly so I won't put my tuppence worth in (it would likely be wrong knowing my luck). Sharon - what a wonderful lot of lovely knitting - well done you and your mum. I am still doing IS hats - but they are in a basket awaiting sewing up and pom poms - perhaps manage that this weekend.
Have a wonderful day ladies, whatever you are doing ENJOY IT.

Good morning all, lovely yummy hot cross buns. I like mine with butter and syrup please Jean.
Might have to put the oven on here later. DS dropped a big hint that it was ages since I made melting moments/ custard creams, whatever you want to call them. Can't let the boy down.
Sunny and just a light breeze today, much calmer than yesterday. Might get a few more plantlets rescued and potted up later.
Finished the second neckwarmer last night. There's still a bit of yarn left, not enough for a third one but maybe get a wee hat out of it.
Shaz, nice to see you posting again. You and Mum have been busy with the needles. Are the boys settling down a bit now ?
F1widow - nice to see you too. Hope you feel a bit better today.
Ginnyknit - did the pm work? By the way,I keep meaning to ask, what does that bit in your sig stand for ? (c r a p r o l l z 3)camp fire coffee drinker )

Hi Ginnyknit - I'm just about to go and help someone move some furniture but saw your post and knew I had Mrs Twin's address handy in my address book, so I will pm you with it.
Hope everyone is keeping well.
Welcome to you, Margaret; I see you've already had excellent advice. You might also find Ravelry interesting! Here's a link http://www.ravelry.com/

It was really just to annoy people who thought we were mad for keeping things to prepare for power cuts, minor disasters or in my case the DWP stopping our money for 3 months. A lot of the group live in the middle of nowhere or have no one close to rely on in an emergency. We also stock up on tinned goods for bad weather or being housebound. Its actually come in useful for several of us and we are quite lighthearted about it all.

My daughter has given me a pattern for me to knit a sort of cardigan for her, which is fine, but the wool that the pattern suggests is discontinued! It was in James C Brett Chunky Fusion and I cannot find it on the web (well I can but at a silly price) and wondered if you could help me in finding an alternative - it's the tension that's the problem. It says 12 stitches and 20 rows to 10cm on 6mm needles. Most chunky wool I've found as an alternative has 14 stitches and 19 rows to 10cm. If I knit it to the 14 stitches, then the whole cardigan would end up small - wouldn't it?
I'm not bothered about it not being the same wool, but a nearish one would be good. I've swapped wool with what's been suggested in the past on other patterns with no problem, but not sure about this one as it seems to be pretty specific!
Any suggestions would be most appreciative. Thank you very much.
Margaret
:hello:
This gives the tension you are looking for and is nice to work with

Well, thank you very much for your help. I've been on most of the various websites to find an alternative. I've not chosen one yet as my daughter is away, but at least I know where to point her so she can choose the colour etc.
Got to finish my DGS's jacket first though, on the last half of the last sleeve, then it's the sewing and neck to do (the worst bit if I'm honest, I find the picking up quite hard!) - plus I've a tea cosy on the go too!
Am I the only one that has loads of stuff on the go at the same time? I do finish things, but it's always the last bit that seems to take an age to do, and I'm always on the lookout for the next project before finishing the previous one (knitting and sewing)!!!:o
Ah well, I'd better get back to the knitting!
Thanks again everyone.

Margaret, you are definitely not alone with the multiple works in progress. I hate picking up stitches so you won't catch me doing entrelac patterns.
My excuse is that I have 'butterfly syndrome' flitting about from one thing to another. I have to have several things on the go so that I don't get bored.
At the moment I am crocheting granny squares for another blanket, knitting a small hat (new born size) trying to get up the enthusiasm to sew in ends on a blanket - sorry,I tell a fib there are two blankets - put buttons on a couple of baby cardigans, etc..........you see what I mean.
I know for a fact that there others here in the same position. We almost get things finished, but something else takes our fancy and we just can't wait to start a new project.
Note to self ; Do not start anything new until at least two ufo's are completed.
Roaming -are the hot cross buns ready? I didn't put the oven on today, got involved with something else. Little J had been away at his auntie's house for a wee holiday so we had a lot of playing and cuddling to catch up on. Maybe tomorrow will be baking day, must admit I have to be in the right mood, so as long as 'Edna' stays away the tins might be filled, well some anyway.
Well the bed and book are calling, so pleasant dreams to all.Fully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.

I tell myself its "multi-tasking"....... currently there are machine knitted socks/slippers and hats - which will continue to be this years ongoing project, crochet granny squares for a zig-zag blanket (I have been really lax with this and will get back to it SOON), crochet cotton heart for my DWS - nearly done honestly only a few more rounds to go. Hand knitting Innocent Smoothy hats and chucking them all in the basket for sewing up and pom poms - likely to be this weekend. I did fit in the very hungry caterpillar cocoon and hat - and the list for the new baby (shawl and car seat blankie as well as some proper knitting for it) will be done probably the week before it arrives. The sweatshop sewing machines are yelling at me to get in and get started but I am not even going near them till next month...so yes Margaret you are certainly not alone.
The hot cross buns were scoffed at tea time - all gone in a flash. I also made a hot cross bun loaf - just had a couple of slices of that for my breakfast yummy.
Ye all have a terrific day - PSSO - your mention of custard creams/melting moments - REALLY GONE AND DONE IT NOW will get to them this afternoon along with the lemon meringue tart that Sis in Law would just love to have for her tea today (she gave me a list - I am working on it)
