Hi everyone. It's been really hectic here for days now and I have just found a moment to do the update.

The holiday home we look after has been sold and, as the owners live in the UK, we are doing all the liaising between the various parties, and trying to sell the surplus furniture. Luckily, the new owners are buying most of it but there are still some big items that need to be either sold or moved out of the house within the next two weeks. We have a barn we can store them in, but it would be great if it could all be sold before we have to do the moving, which we have provisionally booked for next week.

We still have our temporary phone and internet connection but Orange (used to be France Telecom) should have been out yesterday to do the permanent repair. Needless to say, no one turned up (I would have been surprised if they did, to be honest), so that means more calls to arrange another appointment. This is the kind of thing that makes me long be back in the UK!

I haven't had chance to catch up on all your posts but will try to later on; meanwhile, here is the update:

I have actually managed to get another two lap blankets made, but I have no idea how I found the time!

Chalky - I hope William is getting loads better as each day passes.

Hugs to you all, especially those who are worried or unwell.

    Will call in later

Well sun has been shining hubby is off this week as is DS although he has been busy fixing things for others (personally was a bit annoyed that they thought it would be ok for him to fix things for them while he is on his much needed week off but hey ho my hubby is too kind and generous and likes to help)

Whilst I haven't been able to see much of the internet via my phone I managed on my Facebook app to find a few new knitting avenues for donations which I am really pleased about am hoping to re-ignite my knitting mojo well lets hope anyway - I have had some real disasters lately - I'm just going to blame the new tablets and the increase in others ......

Have had bad heads for about 8-9 weeks plus feel dizzy lightheaded and none of my limbs want to work very well Dr has increased my thyroid pills and says it will stop .......... still waiting :D:rotfl::rotfl:

Kathy, hope u get the phone and internet sorted properly very soon
pippa, hope you are having a lovely time at the caravan
chalky, hope William is continueing to mend, and that your all managing to get some sleep. thanks for asking about my mum, she is suffering with her back, she has just been diagnosed with spondylitis, her walking is poor too, and seems to be constantly in pain all the time.
both me and mum have been doing lots of knitting, and its been almost 2 months since I last updated, so the list is getting longer but I keep missing the update, feel embarrassed to post amounts now, as it looks like so much, but it not one weeks worth its two months.
    big hugs to all

Happy Easter to you all. I hope you have a lovely weekend with the sun shining and lots of. Ho collate to eat.

We are visiting a friend who is visiting nearby and it's lovely to feel we can actually leave the computer. We have not wanted to lately in case we missed any news. So we will be Incommunicado until Monday x
Try and do a good deed every day.
  • Hi, sorry to butt into your threads (you seem to have a lovely network of friends working all together), and I hope this is the right place to post about my little problem.

My daughter has given me a pattern for me to knit a sort of cardigan for her, which is fine, but the wool that the pattern suggests is discontinued! It was in James C Brett Chunky Fusion and I cannot find it on the web (well I can but at a silly price) and wondered if you could help me in finding an alternative - it's the tension that's the problem. It says 12 stitches and 20 rows to 10cm on 6mm needles. Most chunky wool I've found as an alternative has 14 stitches and 19 rows to 10cm. If I knit it to the 14 stitches, then the whole cardigan would end up small - wouldn't it?

I'm not bothered about it not being the same wool, but a nearish one would be good. I've swapped wool with what's been suggested in the past on other patterns with no problem, but not sure about this one as it seems to be pretty specific!

Any suggestions would be most appreciative. Thank you very much.
    Margaret
