Well I hardly have the heart to write this but know you are all thinking about us. William went back for his check up X ray and it's bad news. The swelling subsided and as a result the bone has not started to set at an acceptable angle. So ...... It's back today for another general anaesthetic and manipulation of bone. We are feeling terrible as you can imagine. Poor little chap and poor Ds and DDIL. XTry and do a good deed every day.0 -

chalky that is such terrible news about poor little william my thoughts are with you that everything goes well for him and the manipulation to straighten and reset goes perfectly. i hope the poor thing isnt in too much pain, but im sure the rest of you are just thinking about him. HUGSSPC~12 ot 124

Oh, Chalky; I don't know what to say, I really don't. It sounds as if the medical care there is really good, and he won't have to sit on a waiting list, but I can only imagine how you and DH feel, and his mum and dad must be beside themselves with worry. I will keep you all in my thoughts, and wish the surgery the best possible result.
Thanks, in all your worry, for mentioning the audio books. She has tried them but didn't get on with the technical side of it. She needs things with the least number of buttons to press, bless her.
Am sending virtual hugs to you and your lovely family.

Hello ... I wanted to pop back and say how things have gone and as always your kindness is showing through like a beacon.
Well he had his op as the last patient of the day I think. Maybe after the list was finished. Waiting for news was so hard but he has had his op and now has the brightest red cast you have ever seen. It also has changed shape. On the broken leg side it goes from tummy button to ankle and now also goes right around the middle and down the other leg to the knee. They are obviously trying to immmobilise the hips to keep the leg still so the bone does not move again. I can't help thinking traction would be easier bug apparently this is how they deal with things these days.
The obvious problem is how on earth he does a pooh... Apparently there is a hole in the cast. I can not imagine how you keep it clean but there we go.
So dear little chap is sporting the plaster a cannula in his hand and yet he manged a smile for us and blew a kiss. My heart felt like it was breaking but of course we smiled and blew a kiss back. I think he is not in pain because of the anaethestic . Will go home tomorrow . My poor family.Try and do a good deed every day.0 -
Many thanks for the update Chalky - love the idea of the red casts - will have to investigate that one on good old dougald! Perhaps you shall have a better rest tonight - I do hope so, squishy cuddles for you and off course your family.

Oooh a jazzy red cast -that will maybe help to cheer the poor wee mite up. His mum and dad will be so worried and grandma and grandad so far away as well. Bad enough when you all live fairly close and can visit. I would be wanting to take up residence, even if only to share the burden of keeping the little love amused. I imagine that has gone through your heads.
I remember a wee boy at school had a blue cast on a broken arm a while ago so maybe that's quite popular nowadays.
Talking hospital matters, did I tell you I won't be going for bypass until at least the 28th.They have had a lot of in patient emergencies lately and the surgeon will be away for a fortnight at the end of this week.
Phone call from work today asking if I'll go for occupational health interview to see if I could do lighter duties till my op :(and how soon afterwards I'll be fit to return. How long is a piece of string ? Been told by surgeon to expect 3months recovery time.
More crafting time. Latest blanket completed, pink, turquoise and spotty white - now on to royal blue and random red/yellow/orange/ blue.
Getting through the stash at an alarming rate :rotfl:
Off to hit the pillow now and hopefully get some sleep, otherwise more crocheting will be done at stupid o'clock.Fully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.

Chalky - I'm so glad the operation is out of the way and the healing can begin. That red cast sounds as if it is crying out for some stickers. Please blow him a kiss from me when you next see him on Skype. Bless you all.
Elaine - I'm surprised at your work putting you on the spot like that, especially when you haven't even had the operation yet. As you say, how long is piece of string? I hope you get a definite date for it soon.
I've almost finished my latest blanket, bar sewing in the ends and, because I didn't feel like sewing in the ends last night, I started another one.
I woke up early this morning, for some reason, so I'm off for another cuppa and a bit of a surf. See you all later.
