Knit Your Square to Give Your Share - PART 4

Pippa-how annoying when the wool was such a good price too. My local fabric shop used to have a "Ten Good Reasons to Buy Fabric" poster on the wall. I can't remember all the reasons but one was "one day your husband will retire and will come shopping with you"-I think it applies to wool as well as fabric so am building up a good stock before my DH retires.
I've been knitting squares all week and am fed up with them so plan to start a pair of socks tomorrow. Too tired tonight as we've been hill walking .0 -
Hi everyone
Elaine - with the edges of the wrap, I did the beginning of each row with Ch 2, DC in 1st DC, Ch 1, 2 DCs in next DC, then carried on crocheting. It gives a lacy edge which actually looks nice so I think it's meant to be wiggly and uneven and it all makes sense after a few rows.
Chalky - glad you made it safely even if it was an eventful trip. Hope you sort the three-cornered blanket out!
Thirzah - I love the idea of that poster and I think the sentiment is exactly right. While I quite enjoy some kinds of shopping with DH, anything girly is just so much better on my own. Men don't understand how you need to touch and feel wool and fabric, and take it to the window to look at it (although my DH once insisted I admired a box of brand new screws - yawn!).
Pippa - I think he'll be surprised when he sees just how much I want to buy; I need so many different colours now and I need to make the most of each trip because the wool here is just not the same as in the UK.
Jean - for real touchy-feely books, I use this site http://www.awesomebooks.com/ Every book is delivered free anywhere in the world. I bought three that I have been looking for for ages; they were used but I got them all delivered free for under €10, and they only took three days to get here.
Anyway, I am off to start my next blanket.
Have a good evening, everyone.

Good morning everybody. I am bottling up some sunshine and sending it straight to you ... We have just seen the weather forecast on the news.
Other than that I will bake a cake right now and get the magic carpet serviced.. Tea at three sound good.
A new week so I hope everyone with trials and tribulations feel a little brighter. I do. Thank goodness. Very unlike me to get the doldrums but been a lot to cope with this last year.
I have joined Linda's at crafty corner stash busting party and have decided to do a lot for charity again. It always makes me feel better and I am enjoying winding great big balls and just making big Granny squares. I am amazed how pretty they look .and there are lots of small balls here in the craft room.

Well what sort of cake was it Chalky, seeing as I missed it - I also missed out on the sunshine and that magic carpet must have got sodden trying to even get to me.
I am delegated to take Sis-in-Law to the shops today (you all know how much I don't like that job) bonus being I know of at least two yarn stores in the town and that is where I intend at least a pop in! Didn't buy or order anything woolly in the whole of January, so I am certainly DUE SOME.
Off to shower and get ready - must have proper breakfast too as its still below zero (I am ever hopeful it will warm up tho'), tons of love and cuddles to you all.

Good morning everybody. Lots of love tucked in.
So sorry to hear of all the rain and terrible weather. I hope no one is flooded. Rain is bad enough but flooded terrible. As we travelled down through France the flooding there was very apparent.
jeani hope that wool has stayed dry! Sorry about the shopping!
mrs Moneypenny I hope all your family are well. Your son must be getting very grown up now.

psso how is the de cluttering going on?
thirzahturning to socks for relief made me smile. They bounce around the walks when I gave them on the needle.
Lots of love to mias
I was very touched yesterday when I took the latest Lappy to the Charity Shop here. I worked it on our journey and they were thrilled. They are saving it for the Spring Raffle. It supports Cancer sufferers here. I go in quite often for books and they work so hard for all nationalities. The shop is so utilitarian though. Not like the best of ours. So, I think I might spend the next 3 months making pretty things for it.
Have lovely days everyone.Try and do a good deed every day.0 -

Chalky what a gorgeous blankie, is that grannie squares without changing colours on the way fround the square? (YES I am THAT THICK)
Well the shopping expedition was a total WASHOUT...... seemingly it was our turn for Tempest Petra yesterday and last night -
so we did three shops in the bighting cold and rain and then came home with barely enough groceries for two days and miserable faces. NO YARN AT ALL -
and I managed to buy himself the WRONG chocolate - so no brownie points for me. GGrrr. So to make up for it I shall spend all day on the knitting machine,
only a couple of power cuts during the night but we have electricity now - not sure for how long.
I hope you are all in the warm and keeping out of the rotten weather. The Hooligan Wooligan – age 9¾

Good morning .i am watching the news with disbelief. Of course Dawlish is so close to us in the Uk. I hope everyone is keeping safe and properties are not being damaged. When is it going to end?
jean and Kathyhooe it's not too bad with you as well.
jean i am not sure quite what you mean. Now it's my turn to be thick. The blanket is made up of 25 different colourse Granny Squares joined together with the join as you go method . It is then finished with rounds and rounds of trebles.
I am working on a new project to keep my craft area under control. Or a little more manageable. Pictures as soon as it is finished!!!
It looks to me like a crafting day over there. So stay warm and click, hook or sew to your hearts content.
f1,psso and Ginny hope things are improving a little.
Love to each and every one of you.
I wonder if dpixie ever lurks ?Try and do a good deed every day.0
