Another soggy miserable cold day here, sunny early on but soon went dull and started raining...
I have a trough out front with pansies, daffs, snowdrops and assorted greenery in and just seeing them as I go out cheers me and makes me smile
psso - sooo sorry we missed your special birthdayso I am wishing you a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY I hope you are enjoying all those scrumptious goodies... and my favourite Maltesers... awww what a lovely little 'feller' he looks full of fun, and growing fast by the look of him x
ginny - ooo getting your room back how exciting errrm does that mean you will be scouting the shops for more stash now :rotfl:hope OH is feeling a bit better
kathy - I thought the same as ginny about doubling it up, I've done that quite a lot lately with different ply's sometimes even 3 strands, mainly for sailors hats so they come up nice and thick
f1 - hope OH is continuing to recover well and you are BOTH taking it easy x
We went up to the shopping centre this morning and popped into one of those cheapie shops that sells all sorts of things, and they were selling 100gr balls of yarn at £1 a ball...trouble was OH was with me so I had to leave it alone looked good quality as well.
off to get the woolly stuff out and relax for a bit, take care all and keep warm.Ax0 -
Hi everyone, and thanks for the advice about the fine wool. On checking it's 3-ply not 4, but it's very delicate and would look a bit girly for a sailor's hat! It sort of looks as if it should be a table runner or something like that, so I have put it to one side for now while I think about it. I have finished the second wheelchair wrap (this one is for my Mum); I did it in mainly cream, with brown and pink stripes at the top and bottom. I have just rooted through my stash and found lots of odd balls of DK so I am going to do a very stripey blanket next.
Pippa - how frustrating that must have been! I've been in the same position; it's very hard to justify spending even more money on wool when you already have tons of it in the stash, and men just don't 'get it', do they? I am going to have a big spend-up on our next trip back home; I keep reminding DH that I am using up my stash and that it needs re-stocking so, subliminally, he should not be surprised when I go shopping!
F1 - hope DH is doing well.
Ginnyknit - hope your DH is doing well, too.
Elaine - how are you?
We have a lovely sunny day here today complete with blue skies; a rare phenomenon these days! It's cold at night but quite mild during the day.
I found this cute pattern for Easter chicks (I know it's a bit early!) and it's free: http://www.lookatwhatimade.net/crafts/yarn/crochet/free-crochet-patterns/crochet-easter-chicks-pattern/ Great for using up really small oddments of wool.
Chalky - hope you are enjoying some good weather?
Jean - how is the decorating?
Take care, everyone, especially if you have bad weather.

Just popped into the spready and made a couple of changes - if anyone wants to be added please let us know - its not an exclusive club (although we all know we are special peeps)...... if you are making something that isn't on the list - again let us know - I will gladly add it.
We have some sunshine but its cold, I have had a huge clear out from the filing cabinet and a big bonfire this morning so have just got out of the shower - will pop back a bit later and catch up with all the news.
Till then ye all be good ye hear!

Bright but very windy here today so i`m still staying inside. Windy weather brings on the angina I find so will content myself indoors.
Well done with the decorating Jean. Choosing paint..hmmm. Can be tricky, doesn`t always come out the colour you think it will. My staircase is testament to that.
Well done to you too Kathy, finishing your second wrap. I`ve given up on it. I know it`s quite easy and the main part looked absolutely fine and I was pleased with it, but I just couldn`t get the edges to look right. They came out all wiggly and uneven, very messy. Ah well, back to the granny squares in random pink for the moment, although I have looked out blue and white if I get bored and need a change. Butterfly brain.
F1 - glad to hear DH is on the mend. You can always tell they are getting better when they start moaning
Ginny- hope your DH is a bit better now. Do you have enough crafty stuff to fill your spare room, sorry craft room.
If my DS and DD & little J all moved out I`d have to go on a mega spree to fill their rooms. :T or move into a smaller house.
Well, I was well and truly gobsmacked yesterday.
DD1 had invited the family round to her house for buffet tea to celebrate my birthday as we couldn`t all get together on the actual day. I did know about it as she didn`t want to give me a shock. Anyway, we were all sitting chatting in the kitchen (all the best parties end up there don`t they) when the smoke alarm went off. Jokingly I said `that`ll be the candles on my cake setting it off. Blow me, next moment my son in law comes through carrying the cake covered with candles, all 60 of them. No wonder the smoke alarm went off  Poor lad had the hair on his arms singed - it was so hot. Little J helped to blow them out, it took a lot of puff. We had a laugh because the first ones lit were very small as they had been burning for a looooooong time.:rotfl:
After the hilarity died down I got a surprise pressie. They had all chipped in and bought me a KindleFire HD.!!!
Got strict instructions to get on and download enough books for my next spell in hospital. First one is on.
Letter from hospital says op should take place within 12 weeks of consultaion with surgeon, and that was a couple of weeks ago. Better get cracking with the decluttering. Was going fine until the dizziness problem, seems to be settling down now so `normal` service will resume, well maybe tomorrow
Off to play with my new toy again.

Lovely and sunny today makes a nice change...
Felt I had to do something this morning so I cleaned the kitchen cupboards  do you think I'm sickening for something???:rotfl:
kathy - bet he is still surprised even though you are dropping massive hints...no they just don't 'get it' however much we try and explain it they seem to have a mind block where wool is concerned...now mention tools or wood and my OH soon pays attention :rotfl:
psso - what a lovely way to celebrate your special day and what a wonderful present, how thoughtful of them all
jean - glad you've finished the decorating, best of luck with the colours...I usually know what I want in my head but the colour never seem's to be there !!!
Remember the small squares I 'found' in the UFO bag ? well... I started joining them and really liked the way it was going so did some more and now there are 87 all laid out on the table...I am a bit short on a couple of the colours and just hope I have some more or something similar lurking somewhere
Off to do a bit of ferreting about under the stairs/corner of the livingroom/under the spare bed/and anywhere else I can think of...
love to all Ax0 -
Hello one and all ... Apologies for absence. It was really hectic at home during our last few days. Dd2 came home from Barcelona to celebrate her birthday weekend. It was lovely to have her, even though it was a flying visit. She is hoping to join boyfriend on his boat in April it seems very serious and she is really happy. Saying goodbye to her for goodness knows how long finished me off and I spent all of Monday morning in tears. I dropped the iron on the floor which made a huge dink so that finished me off. Luckily it missed my toe!!!
Anyway we intended to drive more or less at right down to Spain but DOH had hardly slept the night before we left so we just drove as far as we could and grabbed a night at a Campanille by the motorway. I did give kathyand jean a wave . Anyway we are here now and it is lovely to get away. We woke to blue skies and sunshine this morning so feeling much better than I have of late.
All would be dandy if I had not worked a Lappy for the charity shop here and because of being squashed in the car when I shook it out it only had 3 corners. See blog if you want to see the disaster and then the resolution. It nearly went in the bin I can tell you.
Well I am sorry I have missed out on so much news but will keep up from now on.
psso I am so glad your lovely family looked after you so well on your birthday. Little J looks adorable. I do hope you manage to keep calm with the op looming and the dizziness leaves altogether.
Ginnyi do hope Doh is feeling a little brighter. Think of you often.
Kathyyour shawls/wraps sound lovely. I am sure your Mum will find one a huge comfort. Everything still crossed for house sale.
jeanso glad all that decorating is finished. Back to the sweat shop I hope.
Lots of love to everyone else x x x Try and do a good deed every day.0
