Hi everyone. I have been inundated with visitors over the last few days, which has been really lovely but hectic. We seem to have done a lot of eating and talking but little else. Today I am helping DH to do a little roof repair on the holiday home we look after. He doesn't do roofs on his own for safety reasons, but he says it's not worth paying a labourer just to have him hold the ladder for half an hour, so I will be doing that job. Hopefully, it won't take long.

Chalky - I am glad that William and his entourage made it back to Dubai safely.

Elaine - I am so glad that you are out and about again, and it's lovely that the lady at the library waived your fees.

Jean - hope you are not having too many weather problems; the same goes for everyone else. We have been very lucky here; we've had wind and rain but it has not caused any trouble so far.

Anakat - I love your fireman!

I am glad the subject of postage has come up. I also hate spending money on postage (which is going up again here) that could be spent on wool, and I can see that it is a subject close to all our hearts. I tend to save my items up to take back with me when I visit the UK, and I have also sent things back with friends who are going back there, and asking them to take them to their favourite local charity. Many times the cost of postage has far exceeded what I expected to pay, and it does leave a nasty feeling in the mouth and, as Chalky has pointed out. to receive not even a courteous acknowledgement is so frustrating.

I have just found out that a department in my region of France does Operation Christmas Child, so I can make for that one and, hopefully, it will keep the costs down; I do wish there was a special rate for charity donations. I don't want to stop making. I do wish that I had more time, though; my totals are very poor. Despite my best intentions, I find time just runs away from me, and I have so many things I want to make but time gets the better of me.

I will try and get the update done this afternoon.

Have a great day, all of you.

Love that FIREMAN...... He is so cute - certain to be a hit with your postpal Anakat.

I am going to make a promise to myself today to catch up with ALL the blogs on my list as I haven't visited any in over a fortnight - that's what happens when family and festivities get in the way!

Kathy I also found that they do the innocent smoothy hats here BUT again its postage to get them to the right place gggrrrr. I will just keep asking locally and see who and what come up.

I finished another pair of hand knitted socks - SHAZ you are always so right - they are very addictive! Am now going back to the knitting machines for further socks, slippers etc - I like the fact that I can do them quicker than the two or three days it takes for the DPNS!

Have a wonderful day everybody, I will pop back as and when I can

ITs sad really, this postage problem. The whole point is we want to use our abilities (and stash) to make things to physically help people yet it would seem easier to just send the money it would cost to send it ??? I would hate it if we all had to stop making - I personally wouldnt know what to do with myself. :(

Love the fireman, how cute is he! I have made possibly hundreds of toys and they have ended up all over the world, with love stitched into everyone. Am just making a little cotton rabbit for my friends new grand daughter and cant wait to get it to her. Then I am going to make another patchwork quilt as DS and his wife are planning to start a family in the next 12 months. I want to make lots for this little one just like I did for DGs. Of course it will be kept hidden away waiting until I can reveal it all when they make their announcement :rotfl:

Right am off to have a little rest as Dgs slept very badly last night so feeling a little pooped.

Lots of hugs for those missing people and also those not feeling 100%. Hope the weather is kind to us all. I have a bowl of hyacinths next to me here and cant wait for the beautiful perfume to arrive, will make me feel as if spring is close xxxx

Good morning everybody. Hope these grey days are not making people feel gloomy. It really has been the wettest couple of weeks.

Well we had a lovely meal with Dd1. So nice just to sit down and food magically appear in front of you. We gad the most delicious starter. Olives, tiny chillies stuffed with haloumi,Hummous stirred with green pesto, sun dried tomatoes, cured meats . A mezze feast !
Then crab linguine ... Then Eton Mess. Wow! I could not move but she was so pleased that it all turned out so beautifully.

Today OH's sister is returning to Devon for a week to get their barn ( she bought MIL's ) sorted out. It is so lovely to see it coming back to life.

I am hoping to have a quiet sewing day as house all sorted.

Kathyglad you have had such a sociable time. So,you are going to be Dave for a while!

Ginnywhat lovely news about trying for a baby. Your needles and hook will be smoking!i hope you feel revived soon

jeanwhen I was tidying yesterday I found the one sock I gad started at least a year ago . I actually loved my first expedition into using 4 needles but got to the heel and STOPPED,STUCK!!
So I have done a ribby part sewn it up and it is now the most lovely wrist Warmer! Just got to make a matching sock wrist warmer! I wish I had your determination.

I ran up the stairs yesterday. Caught my big toe on the top step. It turned underneath and I swore so loudly, many times. Well looking at it this morning and feeling it I think it could be broken. So I have strapped it to the next toe and the info says sit with your foot up as much as possible. So frustrating but every cloud has a silver lining.

Just caught up with some of blogland and will pop back after lunch for the remainder on my list............. oh I have some wonderful NEW IDEAS to have a bash at too.
GINNYKNIT - I have now gone GREEN - bright, puce time - baby to knit and craft for coming your way - how wonderful - I live in hope here!
OUCH Chalky - best you keep your bahooky (that's Scottish for bottom) well and truly in a chair with foot in the air........... 'spect you will find 'something' to keep you sitting (ha ha - you have given me a great idea for next week - first stub toe then sit in comfy chair erm will need to see about that)
DAVE - did you really mean to be ladder holding today? ITS SUNDAY - unless that is there is rain/water scooting into the property you should be relaxyvoo-ing.
Off to sling something at the oven in the vain hope that it turns out edible
    x

OK WE ALL POSTED AT THE EXACT SAME TIME...........love the sock/wrist warmer - could you not just go ahead and do the other one?
SECOND ITEM PHOBIA........my problem is trying to learn when to stop - snowpeeps, von trapp frocks, sailor hats........ when I get started there is no stopping me.
