We won't ever lose the THREAD (sic) on this forum so long as we continue to craft, chat and generally show off the odd picture or two.
Ideas of where to donate - local to you, search your local phone books for Dogs Trust, cat rescue, vets, any local care homes, ICU's (baby units), sheltered accomodation, etc etc........ if we can think of lots of local places then its just a swift visit to either ask if they would like (and what) and drop things in.
I will continue to knit hats, etc for those poor freezing sailors - I have been doing that for years and used to drop them into the local place in Southampton. I am always happy to knock out the Snowpeeps these days I ship them off flat packed for anyone who would like them - just let me know how many you would like. We will just all have to keep our thinking caps on and see what we can come up with.
PIPPA - how hard can it be to find? click that link - it's in Dudley! (bit of fun on the linky)

Hello all, bit wet, windy and chilly today.
Braved the elements to return overdue library books, expected a fine, but when the lady discovered I`d been in hospital she waived the charge. How kind, especially when I`d asked the young `uns to ring up and redate them. She reckoned they`d been too worried to remember.
Then went to Asda (next door) Now before you all start telling me to behave.........I got a wee shottie of one of their scooter thingysACE.
Got the bits and pieces we needed and home for a lie down. Just as well DS passed his test the week before I went in to hospital, be lost without him.
Chalky, I think you voiced the concerns we all have had lately.
I haven`t done anything for the spreadsheet, kept forgetting to do an update. Funny thing is I have a VERY LARGE BOX full of woolliness sitting in the corner of my bedroom, accumulated since May when we were at the knitting show at Glenrothes. Had a clear out then and took a load down to Lou. Will have to sort it all out and send it off somewhere ? before I have to go back into hospital.
Must get organised soon. Good idea supporting local charities where possible, after all charity begins at home.
Had a request from the `Hogmanay grandson` -born on Hogmanay 8 years ago - Gramma, can you knit me a Harley please?
No, not a Harley Davidson motorbike, a black Labrador Harley like their dog. So far the patterns I`ve found don`t look particularly like a Lab. Well, not like their Lab anyway, so I`ll keep looking. Don`t like using black wool either, so not a task I will be looking forward to.
Off to sit in front of the fire and watch rubbish on the telly, knitting in hand.

oh feel so guilty as after chalky posted I started rabbitting on about postal costs etc and donations - it was just it reminded me of the thing that was right on my chest !!
what a lovely idea if we could come up with new places to send - I have noted the seamans being free, although we didn't get much of a response from local shelter we have agreed to knit for them again. (sorry "we" means my knitty friend M and me!)
Im building up a little packet of hats for Mrs M for the hospital (the thought of the twins will always touch me) and Ive decided ...................
Im going to make my first whole blanket :eek:now I must warn you it is going to look like a dogs dinner when its finished but Im going to try and then if its ok its going to SIBOL - based on the Knit a Block a week that is running on http://lindacraftycorner.blogspot.co.uk/ my weekly blocks will go into this blanket - Ive only sent Mrs Twins a couple of squares before mainly because I only knit not crochet and mine were, before I became more confident only plain squares anyway with the help of the 200 Knitted Blocks Book im hoping for a masterpiece but as I said will probably get a dogs dinner - my problem will come when sewing up your advice will be invaluable then ladies.:)
And as regarding posting donations Im sharing the cost with M and maybe its false economy but only sending one or two larger boxes rather than lots of little ones - does that make sense?
And I think that you will all agree that Chalky deserves a special hug tonight - its probably easier for me to say but the days will fly by filled with making that special quilt for the scrummy William - lighter warmer days will help - Skype as much as you can (my nephew thinks I live "in there" he says pointing at their IPad:D:D)

PSSO Glad to see you managed to be oot and aboot - bit take care eh! Link for a labrador for you below - it's chocolate (my favourite sweeties) but just make it black. I also found a wee hat with dogs on it you never know I might have a shot at that.

PRFUNGI hope your move went smoothly - you are probably still sitting with a pile of boxes around you wondering just where to stuff them all........
CHALKY & SPORTYEnormous big squishy cuddles for you both - I am just in a daze this morning DS departed yesterday so I shall go and do a proper clean around the whole place to take my mind off other things.
debt free futureMany thanks for the link - I did send squares to S.A. when I first moved out here to France - I think at the time they were asking for only a few in an envelope so they weren't being HELD in customs for import duty. I will get time today to go and have a proper investigation on their website - well when the washing gets all caught up.
MRS MONEYPENNYOh I know that one - I have tried for the last fortnight to snap DS - managed about 6 in total but the very best ones were from my neighbour when we went down to tea ......... so I think I should just dump the ones I got!
OK looks like we are in for further storms today - dreadful overnight so we turned off all the electricity - I hope to catch up with you all a bit later on..... I am currently on hand knit NUMBER TWO sock - 5 needles no sweat! ha ha
Have a terrific day folks - spend it wisely - I shan't!

Sending special (((hugs))) for jean and chalky, and anyone missing loved ones it is lovely having family for christmas but it really tugs the heart when they go home
We had our DS/DIL and 2 DGD's (9 and 7) here for Christmas it was sad when they went but remembering them here makes us smile thinking of the early morning chats with them sitting on our bed, and now, not me reading bedtime stories to them they read their books to me, I am amazed and so pleased that they enjoy reading and really love their books
Love to all Anne xx0
