    Hi everyone

Here, at last, is the update:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AhOgVamMPLdkdDdKVTJ6UWRPLThuejdDaDI0alQ1NVE&usp=drive_web#gid=0

    Many thanks for your totals.

Touch wood, my connection seems to be OK now.

I expect you are all beavering away for Christmas. Our plans have changed; DH's brother, his girlfriend and his son were supposed to be coming for Christmas but his girlfriend got knocked down in the supermarket car park as she was putting her trolley away. The French car parks here are risky places to be; on this occasion, a young lad reversed out of his place without looking first and knocked her clean over. She banged her head and broke her wrist. This happened early on Saturday morning and they had to spend the whole day in hospital waiting for her to be treated and plastered up. She now has follow-up appointments which clash with Christmas so we will get together when she has recovered. It's a shame as we were all looking forward to it but these things happen and at least she was not seriously injured. They now have to claim on their house insurance, and the house insurance company will claim off the other driver's car insurance - it's yet another example of the strange way in which things work here!

The weather here has been lovely for the past couple of weeks; the nights are very cold (we had minus 9 one night last week) but the days are full of sunshine and blue skies, and I've even had washing out every day. So far, it's the best December we've had since we moved here, and more like what we expected.

We have friends coming for dinner tonight, and they have requested one of my beef stews, so that has been in the slow cooker all day;I just need to add the dumplings. I also need to run the hoover over as I have bits of tinsel everywhere.

No news on any buyers or any more viewings but things slow right down at this time of year, and we will vamp up our advertising probably at the end of January. I am so determined that this will be our last Christmas here but then I seem to remember saying that this time last year!

Anyway, I will go back and look through all the posts I have missed.

I hope you are all having good days.

Thanks, Mrs Moneypenny. Sorry to hear about the customs charge; that's dreadful. Hope you get your wrapping up done and dusted soon!

Hope you get the big one sorted, Jean; my problem now is that I've lost Skype on my laptop (but not on the desktop, luckily) and I can't get it back and can't find out why!

Apart from that, we had dreadful overnight weather - downpours of heavy rain and tremendous winds. I was dreading opening up the shutters this morning but nothing appears to have been damaged, and the sun is beaming away. I see it's been bad in some parts of the UK, so I hope you are all managing to keep warm and dry.

No woolly stuff last night because we had people over for dinner, but I hope to get another teddy finished tonight. I can do the pattern with my eyes closed now! I'm also doing a few little Christmas stars to hang around - Lucy at http://attic24.typepad.com/ has devised a really easy pattern, ideal for using up scraps (you need to scroll down to the second post on the page); they are addictive to do, so I am sure that Chalky will enjoy doing them!

Anyway, off to put the washing on the line, make some slow cooker soup (sweet potato and red pepper) and make the bread pudding that DH has just requested.

    Have a good day, everyone.

  • Have had an email from PSSO daughter Elaine was admitted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary over the weekend -

Just a message to let you know that mums in hospital, she was getting tightness in her chest on Friday but eased off then come Saturday morning it was getting worse and went up to hospital. They found that her blood sugar level was high (high enough that she could of slipped in to a coma and passed away) and that she had a heart attack as well. She is getting her angiogram today to see in more detail what needs done (old stent not working and needing replaced, needing new ones,or a bypass) They said they might send her home depending on the outcome of this then take her back in to do what needs done, failing that she will just have to stay there and wait for it.

I will try and find out what they propose but as my UK MOBILE (with all the UK numbers on it) is in the care of DH till Saturday afternoon and he is out somewhere on the lash tonight - very frustrating but I have learned an invaluable lesson - technology is brilliant but you really should keep a paper back up somewhere!

I am sending her lots of love and positive thoughts and prayers for a happy outcome.

Had a card from ex colleague I haven't heard from for a few years, so good to see she remembers me, and we will be in touch soon.:) Definitely finding a few rows of Christmas (may be New Year) jumper is very calming.
