mrs Twinsmay I send lots of love for a very Happy Retirement to Mr Twins. You are such a star and I know that homes everywhere are looking brighter, more cheerful and cosy because of the wonderful work you have undertaken so generously. Things are only going to change not finish. You so deserve precious time together.

Well we are decorating! Everything popping up happily. The Sporty One downloaded a new Christmas CD so all is well. Shame about the rain and grey day but hey ho.

Dear D2 is now back in Barcelona after her months visit to South Africa with her new man who comes from there. She had the most amazing time and it seems as if she is in love ... So another of my brood could end up a long way away. I should have firmly clipped their wings when they were growing up. Only joking all we want is for her to be happy and she is so happy.

Lots of love to one and all
Try and do a good deed every day.

Hi everyone. I have had dreadful internet problems this week. I thought I was back to normal yesterday then the dishwasher shorted out and I lost power, and the internet again. After a process of elimination (and a lot of cursing and mopping up of water) DH was able to fix the dishwasher (he is a good fixer of things; it's why I married him!), thank goodness. We have people coming for lunch today but I hope to catch up with you all, and to do the update, later on.

Mrs Twins - I think what you have achieved, from such a tiny little seed of an idea in memory of your dear grandmother, is truly stunning, and you should be very proud of yourself. I can well understand the change in your circumstances; I find it too costly posting items from here because postage is expensive everywhere these days. I wait until friends take trips back to the UK for them to either post parcels for me or to donate items to charities local to them. I would far rather spend money on wool than on postage!

I will call back later to do the update. Mine is just three teddies using the pattern I posted the link for a couple of weeks ago. The teddies are all in different sizes because I used different plies of wool for each one; I have a large bear, a middle-sized bear, and a baby bear - all they need now is some porridge! I love the pattern; it's one of the easiest that I have tried and, after the third one, I didn't need to refer to the pattern at all. I will try and remember to take photos of them.

    See you all later.

I thought I was the only one in France with flood and broadband problems..... the ''live'' box died during last week - then the queue in the Orange shop was round the walls.....gggrrrr but at least they just gave me a new one, the carpet will survive in the utility room - I certainly am not intending taking it up this year. I aim to do a bit of painting today - well that could be my nemisis but I am keen to get on top of all the silly little jobs before Santa.

Mrs Twins, embrace the new regime coming your way - any kind of postage has become extortionate, you have done wonders with the SIBOL blankets and many folks are snuggley thanks to you and your donations. Like Kathy my things to the UK are care of either me on holiday or others returning, as well as the freepost address for the seafarers. Like many others I am casting around locally to donate, so far have found an animal rescue centre and there is a lady in St Malo looking for premie things - and although that is nearly two hours away - its a lovely day trip !
Coffee calling then I will get stuck in - I actually survived a Friday 13th - mainly because all I achieved was emptying and cleaning out the kitchen drawers - I only managed 6 so must get to the last 3 this morning (they are the worst ones - commonly known as THE HORSES GUTS!), so until later, lots of love and cuddles to you all.

hugs good wishes and coping vibes where they are needed

had a busy but enjoyable weekend, DH works do on saturday which was nice, saw the railway man sunday morning really good film but so harrowing and emotional - it was about a guy who worked on the burma railway and the flashbacks he had and how after he married his wife helped him to come to terms with what had happened all those years ago. it is based on a true story.
ot to ni down the hairdressers again and restock, she caught me in the shops on saturday and said the snow peeps had flown out the door and were ALL GONE!! as well as 8 of the flower brooches, so im taking more flower brooches and some needle cases down today.

    loads to do this week!

  • Hello

Been a bit out of IT circulation as we've had a few days with DS and lady friend visiting us - enjoyed showing her the Christmas sights, and having meals out and providing nice meal Saturday (we wont see them again before Christmas), but we are both exhausted now.
I managed to knit all limbs for a snow dog, just need to stuff and sew him together now, but don't think that will happen today as out for lunch with the girls :), as well as washing and ironing backlog.
Hope you are all enjoying the season, I'm about to follow Mrs Moneypenny's advice and make a detailed plan, before I come to grief. Which reminds me I need a nice big planner's calendar for 2014. I take a peep at this forum every day no matter how busy to enjoy roamin's cheerful pictures.
Best wishes to all and for those who find this time of year gloomy, as OH says, its only 6 days and then the days will start getting longer :T
  • GINNYKNIT - did you really have to mention the freezer cleaning/sorting? Thank you so much for that little reminder - have spend the morning with hat, scarf and gloves on - doing just that............. looks perfect now and I know exactly what and where everything is............:-)

I ran out of flipping dark green yarn for Dd's throw  going to have to go searching tomorrow or I wont finish it. Just started a crochet wreath and its starting to look good now. I wanted a wreath and didnt want to spend any money then I saw one on crochet crowd, all you need is a wire coathanger and 2 balls of yarn, Im putting some little LED lights on it. Other than that all crafting done, Christmas food apart from mince pies done, just a couple of bits to buy. Oh and my teddy angel has no head yet :rotfl:

hi all - well the days are flying by and I realised Ive not been in again for a few days - its been lovely catching up with everyones news
Ive probably missed Pippa by now, but if I haven't hope you have a lovely holiday xx

roamin - dare not tell you that the fridge and freezer cleaned out the other day :D plus windows cleaned inside and out :D - now whats with the Christmas cleaning - no-one comes in and says "ooo see you haven't cleaned your woodwork!" BUt still I do it ;) - have loved your picture posts xxx

ginnyknit - how is that box of goodies going down? xxx

Mrs Moneypenny - did you get a little packet from me? it had a handful of tiny hats for your hospital - hope you are well - the bits and bobs are going really well in the hairdressers - well done xxx

Shropshirelass - well I couldn't agree more than with your OH only 6 days and days will be longer sounds good to me - I think this is why you don't see me much at this time of year Edna (that's 'edna bucket' - or the black cloud as I sometimes refer!)
likes to visit just a bit to much for my liking xx

Well all I can say is Im just not very organised this year at all - I don't think I went over budget but I could have done with being a bit more budget savvy as I have in previous years - my new years resolution is to start looking for bits and bobs earlier - much earlier!

Mrs Twins - I hope that your husband enjoys his retirement and totally understand about the postage - the prices now are really having an impact on what people can send - you have done such a marvellous job giving so much love and smiles to many people - you are wonderful xxx

My woolly friend and I managed about 70 items for the homeless shelter this year and when she took them in for us she left a card with our email address on basically saying that we didn't want thanks but just a bit of feedback to say did they want more mens bits not enough ladies etc etc well we never heard a think and woolly friend was getting a wee bit annoyed so I phoned them only to be told "oh now that's funny another person left a few bits and we took pictures of the people wearing the items and sent them a thank you" well to say that made us a bit mad would be right - still didn't hear a thing then another nudge and we got an email saying thank you much appreciated we always need so much .... still don't know if the items were right or not but hey ho! we don't normally ask for feedback but woolly friend thought it a good idea before we embarked on another year of making for them.

Anyway hope you are all well and not struggling too much and not poorly - love to everyone xx

F1 am having a lovely time with your box of goodies, thank you again. Ive spent many happy hours sorting it and deciding what to do next. Im getting quite good at decoupage now, very soothing sitting snipping and gluing, or even better just pushing out the pieces. There are so many bits and bobs in the box Im still going 'ooh John look!' :D I am a simple girl who prefers crafty stuff to diamonds and gold xx

I agree that feedback is important, I sent a box of hearts to a friend for a fair at her office in aid of Bonnie Babies and she made £2000  these charities are all struggling with the postage like SIBOL, its such a shame.
