  • Hello everyone!

I am just popping in to thank you for your support once again during 2013.
'SIBOL' is still continuing during 2014 but there are a few changes.
I am NO LONGER accepting 6" Knitted and Crocheted Squares for the SIBOL PROJECT for the Elderly.

We have had such a large amount of Squares come in over the last couple of months and when they are Knitted I send them out to 'assemblers' to put them together for us. Well the cost of sending one Blanket is £2.60 and then the 'assembler' has to send the Blanket back so that's at least another £2.60 so one Blanket is costing over £5.00 to process.

Due to circumstances at home I am now unable to send out and pay the postage so I have decided to put a 'STOP ON SQUARES' and only accept 'MADE UP' Blankets for the Elderly.

The 'SIBOL' project is very dear to my heart as you all know and I really want to continue, but something my end has got to change for me to do so. I hope you all understand my situation.

I have lots of local Homes who would love our 'Sunshine Blankets' and if anyone is at a 'loose end' so to speak :) please think about making a Blanket to donate to our Elderly.

Our Blankets comprise roughly of 25 - 6" Squares Crocheted or Knitted with a 1" to 2" border. Of course you can make a traditional Granny Square Blanket or any other design you like. It's a way of using those odd bits of yarn up.

I would like to thank you all for your wonderful support and if you want to pop over to SIBOL and see what's been going on over there please follow the link.

Happy Christmas and New Year to you all,
    Love Sue xx

Hi Mrs Twins, so sorry to hear you are blighted by the flipping royal mail, so many charities are in the same position now.

Of course we understand completely if things have changed at home, do hope its not to serious. Will start a blanket after Christmas and pop it off to you. Have as good a Christmas as you can.

Oh and I went for his cancer check-up today and very good news. His blood test showed a very low reading, which was a real shock and the specialist was jumping for joy. However one of his new treatments can make the cancer grow so they are keeping a close eye on him and if it rises by March they will either start treatment or surgery as he is too ill with his other problems to wait. At least we can have a peaceful Christmas now as I was dreading bad news.

that's me in the sparkley - once more unto the breach! I really will win today - yesterday's drama - the fridge in the utility room just decided to de-frost all on its ownsome - off course I didn't see it till
there was ponds of water on the carpet and I was busy with other jobs anyway, I really should n't ever be left alone - it all goes to RATS. Still today I have further plans and will now go and get started to them in the vain hope that I can accomplish something productive!
Have a great day folks, love and cuddles to you all - back when I get here.

aww Roamin, life always spits out something stupid when you are trying to be organised. I just dropped a little box in my office that Oh had deposited there and now have a floor full of little cup hooks, odd screws and all kinds of wonderfulness but I have a telescopic magnet for picking things up :D
Hope nothing was ruined by the mini flood?

That is good news , Ginny.

  • Hi everyone!
    Thanks for your comments.
I'm fine thank you but my circumstances have changed at home.
Mr T leaves work next week redundancy/retirement and I don't think it's fair to spend out on getting Squares made up if you understand me. It does cost an awlful lot of money this end to even process one Blanket. I have notified a couple of craft groups who regularly send Squares hoping that they can still support our work by sending 'ready made Blankets'. This will save me money on sending out to get them assembled. Knitted Squares are not my favourites to assemble I have to say.
I do have two Elderly Ladies who Knit Squares for me and I will still be accepting these Squares I haven't got the heart to tell them as I know Knitting for SIBOL, is their little lifeline. It takes their mind of Health problems and I have to say their Squares are beautiful it's always such a pleasure to receive them.

We've nearly made 600 Sunshine Blankets and I do hope we can continue. Our Blankets are always so well accepted in the Care Homes but I just have to find new ways of continuing now due to my personal circumstances at home.

    I'm fine thank you all!
