Morning ladies - bit brighter here today - you watch come the end of the week when the children are back at school we will have a heatwave x

isom - I hope mum is feeling a bit better today and you have forgiven me for your name faux pax! xxx Hope you both are having a nice rest

sock-knitter - have a great time away with the boys and bf - how many socks will you get knitted?????? xxx

Yes I did put in an order for Kemps although the weight shot up and I paid the next bracket for postage oh dear dont tell DH - we will keep this to ourselves

I feel a bit guilty knitting something for myself and as I think my knitting has improved Im thinking of knitting the bed socks for a couple of relatives for christmas - two bags for my nieces - and a couple of sets of gloves -phew had better start soon otherwise the rate I knit they wont be ready for next xmas :rotfl:

Those glove patterns are really lovely - I want to have a go at all of them - well the knitted ones at least

Im on my own today as boys have gone out so am just pottering really - dont laugh but i recorded Amadeus film the other night - i think its about 3 hours long (Ive seen it before years ago - story of Mozart) so perhaps I will just finish surface damage then sit down with lunch and needles and get watching - unless of course there is an Agatha Christie on ????? oh and there is the F1 race as well - oh blow decisions decisions .....

roamin - no unfortunately we are not all at the seaside eating rock :rotfl: - too bloomin cold - its more like we are shut in with the fire on :rotfl:xx

mrs twins - the blankets are lovely - i still have not contributed yet but will do I promise xxx

    hi,

i am new to this thread. I have just started knitting again and love it. However have made a silly mistake on my waistcoat.

I finished it ready to sew up, managed to sew the wrong end to the shoulder seam (there is no rib), thought it had ended on the wrong row and therefore pulled it down a bit having great difficulty doing so.

It then dawned on me that i had pulled the beginning down i.e. the cast on front bottom edge. I knitted it back down but obviously cannot cast it on. will it be ok if i cast it off loosely. it was cast on by the thumb method and is a chunky knit. otherwise it means knitting the whole right front again.

    thanks

Hi Missymouse - this is a tricky one! The best thing to do is try casting it off loosely and see what it looks like. Also, you could also try casting on and knitting a few rows again, as if you were starting the whole right front again, then graft the new piece to the old. If you google 'grafting knitting' you should find instructions which will make it easier than trying to explain here - you might find a video showing how to do it. Good luck - it must have taken ages to pull it out from the cast on edge. Please let us know how you get on. I'm sure someone else on here will have some ideas, too, so keep checking this thread!

Well, I've been busy sorting out a mountain of books to go on some new shelves that DH has put in the sitting room. At the same time, I made the mistake of watching South Pacific which was on the TV, not dreaming that it would have the same effect on me as it did when I was a dizzy teenager! Cue lots of tissues...and I thought it was corny! Well, it is, but I loved it. DH thinks it's hysterical!

We've had a lovely sunny day here and I'm just about to get on with the dinner before DS2 Skypes us.

Hope you've all had a good day and that you have good weather for the bank holiday.

    KathyXX
