M.E boy do you have a job there! Hope it all finds nice new homes...so wish I lived near.

Kathy  flying in her interior designer  what a waste, all that money could help a charity out. We all do our bit on here and it drives me crazy to see people throwing money away, oh well must dwell on it.

Poor Chalky, thats awful, hope you get sorted quickly. I will post your parcel on Thursday if thats ok xxx

    Hi all

Chalky - glad you got back safely but what a rotten welcome. Hope you didn't lose too much stuff. Is it worth claiming on your house insurance?

M.E. - that stash sounds amazing. I'd love to see photos but, like PSSO, I have problems logging into LH.

Ginny - I know, it drives me mad because life is one big spend for my SIL, and her daughters are now just the same. I hope they can find husbands to keep them in the style to which they have become accustomed! I must admit that DH and I do laugh about some of her extravagances, like lunching at The Ivy simply because she's heard that it's trendy, and telling everyone how much it cost! If you Google 'veblen goods' it explains it very well - that some people will spend far more than something is worth simply because they think it is high-status. A fool and his money, as they say. The waste is horrendous; as you say, charity could benefit from what she wastes money on; however, she must keep many people in employment!

Good morning everyone. Thanks for the welcome back and welcome to new friends. That garage of wool sounds amazing..... It would be better than a cake or a sweet shop to us lovely lot.

Don't get me started about waste and crazy people spending money. I know everyone has the right to spend money as they please but what a lot of good they could do with it . Status symbols only bring a moments pleasure from the " I want,I have got to have, I am desperate for"'.... State of mind. Enough said.

I have packed my Spanish charity work up to go to Greenfields and Puppet Lady. So that's good and now I have a zingy blanket to finish for my God Daughter. Plenty of squares got done on that marathon drive ... 40 out of 49! So now gave the border to do.

I was looking on Loving Hands last night.. All seems fine for me. I gad not realised what a shift there has been about people making their own deliveries to areas of need but it must help so much with the postage costs. Lou must be getting some respite too!

Well we are feeling a lot less tired this morning and gave to get a new freezer? Don't ever buy a Beko. I know they are the cheaper end of the market. Our last fridge freezer lasted 25 years and this one 18 months! Customer care and a call to head office got me zilch!!!!

Lots of love to you all posters and Mia's

Chalky - I've never had anything made by Beko so can't comment, but I can highly recommend Bosch, which is the make we always choose for appliances; they are not cheap but they really do last and last, and definitely repay the initial investment.

Well, it started off really sunny here so I put a load of washing out, then it bucketed down. DH, bless him, volunteered to get the washing back in and came in soaked to the skin. We've had several really torrential downpours all afternoon, so the washing did not go back out!

Thanks for all your advice and sympathy about freezer... My golly it stinks but I gave been in contact with insurance company and it sounds a little bit positive as it would seem the motherboard has blown because of firstly a power cut then a power surge. We have to wait for an engineer from the insurance company to verify this. So fingers crossed.

Ginnywill look forward to receiving parcel. Thank you so much.

Well we are a bit manic here catching up with everything especially dentist, optician appointments ect. Serves us right for gadding about so much!
Did manage to pop in to the wool shop today for one ball of wool for a Neopolitan blanket I am knitting and would you believe it four other balls just jumped in to my hands and pleaded to come home!!!

Take care everyone. Happy thoughts and the gentlest wishes to you all xxx

Yoo-Hoo its only me did you miss me :)

We had a great time with DS2,DIL and DGS on the cruise and then the stop over in Barcelona, bit of a change in weather here though we have been in temps up to 27 degrees for 10days  and its been great to warm the old bones...although we did go in the Vodka Ice Bar on the ship and it was 17 below :eek:everything was made of ice, table, chairs, the bar, statues and all drinks were in glasses made of ice but they did pop them into a plastic glass, they wrapped us all up well though in gloves and huge white ponchos with fur hoods and thermal linings...but who forgot about her feet???yep had to be me...so I mugged OH and yanked his socks off :rotfl:
He couldn't come in as it was too cold for him (since the Radiotherapy he is always like an icicle) so he sat outside with chilly feet...sipping an ice drink and talking to people, he's good at that ;)
Even went to the circus on ship didn't really know what to expect but it was brilliant.
There was a Beetles tribute band on and they were the best I have ever seen, we were all standing up singing, clapping, waving arms...right up my street...giving my age away there... ;)

There were 450 children aboard of all ages but most of them went to the kids club and had a great time, DGS came out one day with a tiger face, then one night he wanted to go to the kids pirate party so we went to the Legends show, he had a great face paint done that night,
We all spent a lot of time in the pool and the hot tubs, DGS can swim quite well and he was swimming underwater as well not bad for a 5 yr old, its so good to see him loving the water and not nervous of it. He even went on the huge twirly slides and one with a big rubber ring he had to sit in and hold the handles
He was just tall enough to go on the rock climbing wall so he was pleased about that.

I even had a bargain in Marseile...2- 100gr balls of cotton yarn and a 4.5 mm hook all for 3 euros....what a bargain

PHEW!!! home for a chill out now...thought holidays were to recharge the batteries...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hope all is well with you all... off for a read through back tomorrow
    Love to you all
I've missed reading all your doings Axx

Had a treat yesterday, managed to get to a carers meeting and had a mini pedicure - oh my goodness how wonderful and relaxing. Then we made bombs and had a lovely lunch - and all free :j It was so nice to get away for a couple of hours. I then ran hell for leather to find OH and he rushed us off so I could pick little man up from school. It was my first time picking him up and he looked so beautiful in his uniform. He is doing very well too.

Spent today sorting out finished stuff for parcels and my fair, first of many I hope. the house is still a bombsite but am getting there. I think the messy pixies were camping out here while we were away last week :rotfl:

Woo hoo I ignored the world yesterday and finished the blanket. Wow it's a riot of colour just like my god daughter. It makes a real change and was cosy to work with last night.
49 squares using an African Flower Granny pattern..... I am going to write it up on my blog later. And sewing in ends like no tomorrow. It's so good to finish.1 week must be my record....and not to be repeated!!!!
