mum had to have 6 and half hours of surgery, as well as the strangulated hernia, and bowel blockage, she also suffered from peritonitis from appendixitis (bad spelling)
she has tubes everywhere and looks really terrible, and has to stay in hospital for at least a week, but at least she is over the worst and on the mend.
going to see her again this evening.
Was supposed to be going on a knitting holiday to blackpool next monday, would rather stay at home, and visit mum, but she is telling me to go, that i need a rest, that there is not much i can do whilst she is in hospital, and staff are caring for her, and she thinks the break will do me good, and i'll be in a better position, having had a break to help her, once she's home again.
dont know what to do, seems selfish to go away while mum is ill, yet i know she is right, and i could reallhy do with the break. think it will be a last minute decision on sunday or monday, depending how mum is
thanks everyone for the good wishes
love to all

Shaz - sounds like your Mum has really been through it and I'm so glad she is over the worst and recovering. As for going away, Mums are usually right (aren't we?!) so, if I was you, I would make sure that the doctors are happy with her progress on Sunday or Monday and, if they are, take her advice and enjoy your break. You'll be able to phone her or the hospital to check on her while you are away. As she says, you could do with the break; you'll have a lot to tell her when you get back, and you will be refreshed and recharged and able to help her when she is out of hospital.

shaz you will worry about your mum whereever you are i can understand you not wanting to go but if you think logically maybe you will be in a better frame to care for your mum if you have this break and get chance to recharge your batteries. mum is staying there for at least a week so all you will be doing between visiting times is sitting at home worrying. maybe have a word with the nurses or doctors and see what they suggest. glad mums had the op and is over the worst.
hugs to youSPC~12 ot 124

Glad your Mum's Op. is over safely and she is on the road to recovery. I too think you should take your holiday and be rested to help your Mum, when she will need it most on discharge.0

Shaz I am so glad to hear your Mum has had the op. Gosh she must feel much better now and is well enough to give you advice. I have to agree the break will be good for you to re-charge your batteries for the weks ahead xxxClearing the junk to travel light
