Only a very quick pop in as we are quietly celebrating 36 years of wedded bliss and DOH is cooking the tea --- Prawns and Chorizo Linguine in a Sauvignon Blanc Sauce. I think I will keep him for posterity!

I have managed to finish the 2nd blanket for Mrs Twins and will keep going!

Lots of special love to one and all xx

Happy Anniversary to Mr and Mrs Chalky, and many more to come! Have a lovely evening, both of you. As he's doing the cooking, I would definitely keep him on; I think he's proved himself to be a useful chap! I do believe this is your first wedding anniversary as grandparents, too!

Chalky have a lovely evening, congratulations xxx

ISOm lovely octopus, I think I will be making him soon. Glad you are feeling much better, take it easy when you can.

Psso, you are right about the phone business, I keep the mobile well out of the way. He has a habit of pushing the button on OH's emergency help line as he walks past but I can stop that easily, its annoying though and I found, purely by luck, if I cover it up he ignores it.

Mrs Twins, thank you, I so enjoy helping knowing the blankets are going to people here who appreciate the thought and the gift.

ISOM - I hope you feel a lot better soon. The octopus is gorgeous!

Chalky - hope you don't have too bad a hangover!

Well, yesterday my lovely sister and BIL took my Mum back to where she was born, Pontypridd, in south Wales. She was six years old when her own mother died there of TB aged just 26. Mum hasn't seen her grave since then, and hasn't been able to find it in the years since. Jane and BIL found a scrap of paper in her things which looked as if it might be useful, so they took her to Wales, found the cemetery and, much to their surprise, found the family plot. There were three graves and the lady in the cemetery office could not find out which one was her mother's, so she put flowers on all three. Jane said it was very emotional, but that Mum has been talking often about wanting to give her mother some flowers, so she was finally able to yesterday. They also took her back to the road where she was born, and she was able to point out the places where she would play with her friends. I am just so happy that Jane and BIL were able to make one of her wishes come true.

I am buying a laptop when I go back to the UK next week. I can't buy one here because they are too expensive compared to the UK, but they also have French keyboards, and I want an Engish one! Anyway, I use a desktop at the moment, but it's very old and tired (a bit like me!); I will still use it for my typing work, but I want a laptop that will be good as a backup, for research, and to use when I am out and about. If anyone can recommend one, I'd be really grateful. I don't know much about laptops, so it's a whole new world to me!

Hope you are all enjoying some good weather. It's lovely here; it's actually cooled down from the 40+ temperatues we've been having, and is a lovely 27 degrees. I've been shopping this morning for presents to take back to everyone, so I was glad it was a bit cooler, alhough it was stifling in the car.

Kathy I have just taken on a new UK HP lapdog... and have to say its a whole new learning curve - my previous was French and as you say the keyboard was all over the shop...but I did change it to UK keys - then anytime anyone who couldn't touch type got in a right mess - saved the wee boys from getting into too much trouble when I wasn't around! They come at all sorts of prices and specs, I would suggest you get one with a built in camera...then when you skype you can be anywhere - me in the garden usually!
Nephew got a great deal at PC world a few months back - so check it out online, sometimes the deals in the shops are better but other times its online that wins.
I am doing crochet for myself today - after a bit of a nightmare morning....the buried water pipe that runs way up the garden (like a mile) has a leak so we have had to dig down to it in order to repair it - this I suspect is the fault of the JCB that has been travelling back and forth doing next doors septic tank (NEXT DOOR IS going to be my SIL- DO we tell her or keep that quiet). Also found that one of the only two bramley apple trees we have has been DUG OUT..- just laying flat on the ground .DH suspects our big puppy dog - but to be honest its way beyond even her capabilities, so we have dug another hole and re planted it, I have taken off all the fruit to give it a bit of a chance- copious amounts of water will be given over the next weeks in a vain attempt to save it....I am just waiting on DISASTER NUMBER THREE to strike!
What a wonderful tale of your mums visit into Wales - your sister and BIL have done really well to make that wish come true for your Mum.

    Hi Jean

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to try PC World first because they've got a sale on, which I'm assuming will still be on to attract students returning to school and college. I will probably take one of my sons with me, because they understand this high-tech world better than I do! I'll definitely get one with a camera because I know it will be useful.

I really hope you don't have disaster number three; the first two are surely enough on their own. It's a delicate situation though with your SIL; I don't know what I'd do about it. I hope the apple tree takes, poor thing. It will definitely need plenty of water, especially at this time of year. Hopefully, the disaster will just check it for a season, and it will be raring to go next year.

Psso, my DGS was 2 at the end of April, so yes he and Jayden are very close in age. Maybe they are phoning each other !

Oh Roamin, one problem after another for you hunny. Hope its all sorted soon adn you get to put your feet up! :)

Been to hospital, had to run, pushing the wheelchair, all the way from the car park to the loo while Oh was doubled over in agony  Made it in time though, thank goodness. Doctor exceptionally nice today, laughing and joking and understood our bafflement at things of late. He is going in as a day case 2nd October to have a procedure on his bladder which should help. Obviously diffusing the situation as they generally messed up again but intends to put things right for us.

Am now searching the web for a ball of sage green 4ply for a Christmas pressie, I only need 50gms but may take some time as it seems to be rare ! Oh well it will keep me out of mischeif :rotfl:
