Salome, your coffee morning sounds nice. I make things for a village in the Gambia and recently sent sewing kits ( a friend actually took them whilst on holiday there - thats how we got involved) and they were so pleased with them. It was just a felt case with needles, pins and buttons and a few bobbins of thread I had been given but to the village it was treasure and they gave some out as prizes at the school.

Chalky that is so nice of you to say that, your support on here is really appreciated, some days I feel weary but popping on and reading everyones news keeps me going, as does making blankets for the lovely Mrs Twins to share out.

Many apologies Mioliere, I have been spelling your name wrong and thats rude of me.

Yes Pippa I am doing bags of squares too, and I love it. am also doing my own blankies for her too and have 1 ready to post. I have never felt so appreciated by a charity as I have lately, the three charities I am involved with are so generous of spirit that it makes me feel great. i know thats not what doing things for charity is about but when you are struggling it really helps spur you on through the day :)

Mrs Twins I am so pleased you reached the reserve, I kept looking and it seemed stuck at £125 so I stopped checking as I didnt want to jinx it :rotfl: What an amazing amount you have raised - well done. I am loving the squares and am about to start blanket number 2 - I did the small squares first as they were a challenge and they have come out really well -( whoops self praise is no recommendation) Will sort out posting the first one next week hopefully, plus the one I have made myself.

hope everyone is doing ok, So glad Lily is stable Mrs M, thats good news. Hugs Ginny

    Hi everyone

Ginnyknit - please don't apologise for spelling my name wrong! It's an unusual word (the name of the hamlet I live in), and my DH still can't spell it properly!

Chalky - William is becoming a very handsome young man, isn't he? I love the smiley photo of him!

    Jean - how are you?

ISOM - I forgot to congratulate you on your amazing weight loss - you must be feeling so much better.

Shaz - if you're sleeping a lot it's because you need it, so just rest whenever you can.

Mrs Twins - that is truly staggering; you have raised so much for a cause that, as you know, is very dear to my heart. Bless you for all you do for the elderly; they are such a deserving section of our society.

Pippa - I love your philosophy for all the rain!

Well, we've had a mixture of weather here. We get bursts of very hot sunshine, but lots of cloud and this morning we've had heavy rain, so I have no idea what to expect for the rest of the day.

We've had several viewings this week, and one couple have been back twice, and now want to bring a family member who is a builder to have a lot at converting the parts of the house we haven't done. It all looks and sounds really encouraging; even the estate agent is feeling positive about it, so fingers crossed - again!

As for my dear mum; there have been a few hiccups since she first moved in on Monday. When she's thinking clearly, she resents the fact that she can't go out on her own (and she really can't - it just wouldn't be safe), but that appears to be the only thing that annoys her. She gets a bit tearful and my sisters were advised to leave visiting her for a few days, so that the staff can get her settled in. They phoned the home yesterday and were relieved to be told that mum has been making friends with some of the other residents, and she's also eating well, so that's very reassuring. I think my sisters are visiting her today, so I will wait for the next report. I'm hoping they'll be able to give me mum's personal phone number so that I can call her myself, but I will hope that I can't get through often because it will mean that she's busying herself with all the activities there. Thank you, all of you, for your continued good wishes - you've no idea how much they mean.

As for my BIL, he needs some more blood tests and scans, but he's doing well, considering, and he's keeping active helping his brother in the mornings, although feeling tired in the afternoons; he's still very upbeat, which is his nature, and I'm sure that's having a positive effect.

Well, I have some online work to do, so I'd better get on with that,

Hello one and all -- It doesn't have to rain every day!

psso --- Thinking of you as I know this is quite an emotive time. Little "J" must be racing around now.

Ginnyknit-- Lots of good wishes to you as you face each dayxx

Mrs Twins-- What a result. Amazing -- You are a complete star!

Salome-- That coffee morning sounds amazing -- If you would like some squiggly key rings let me know. They seem to always sell well

Shaz-- Have a good weekend x

    ISOM-- IT IS THE WEEKEND!!

Mrs Moneypenny -- Everything still crossed for little Lily x

Kathy -- Fingers crossed for you both x

Jean -- Have you washed that Gal out of your hair? I hope so as I miss you! x

F1 -- Are those pots filling up again?

Kinsey-- Hi! Miss you too. Lots of love to all the MIA'S --- THINK DPIXIE HAS GOT LOST IN HER FRENCH POLYTUNNEL!

Dear MIL is getting very forgetful-- I think maybe the failing heart is not oxygenating the brain enough> A Watching brief methinks.

I am at the moment thinking of supporting a little charity called Hannah's
    http://www.discoverhannahs.org/

They have opened the prettiest shop in Newton Abbot with a little section of Crafts for sale to boost the funds so I am busy filling a box.
They have laid the shop out beautifully -- it looks like a Vintage Emporium rather than a Charity Shop and we feel so blessed to have William that I would like to do something in return.

I am also about to embark on some free Crochet lessons read all about it here
    http://chalkygilbert.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/cafe-zu-crochet-lessons-and-coffee-for.html

My DD made me laugh -- she was worried what I would do if no-one came -- I laughed and said " That would be no problem I would just sit and quietly hook!!"

Right I am going to concentrate on the tennis -- Love to all xx
Try and do a good deed every day.

    have a good weekend all
phoned my dad yesterday hes really down at the moment, his last surviving brother died of brain cancer this week. i hadnt seen him since mum and dad split up when i was little but felt really sad for dad, he was going through his brothers and sister saying when theyd died (two recently lost to cancer my favourite uncle from dads side only died last year) it really is a horrible and cruel illness.
im supposed to be organising a meal for my birthday but so many things keep cropping up that are making family members say they arent in the mood to celebrate anything. i feel like im being selfish trying to organise it but i set out thinking it would give peole a chance to get together and take their mind off the problems going on at the moment. i think the way its going ill only have DH the kids and some friends there. (means more cake for us i suppose)

i hope everyone has a lovely weekned and the weather doesnt get any worse. HUGS to all
