hi everyone, i have been mia due to fighting the weeds in our potager - so far its WEEDS 100 - dpixie 0! the more i pick the more appear and as we have a lot of bindweed - i am having to do it by hand or else it splits and multiplies. its such a bother, but it has to be done. however, we will start harvesting the broad beans either today or tomorrow which will be great and now that i have planted the tomatoes - it shouldn't be too long (about 4 weeks) before the cherry tomatoes start providing our lunchtime salad offerings. the peppers are growing and we can start harvesting them in a week or two, so its all exciting and ... the courgettes are starting - i love courgettes, however, OH is not quite as happy as i am, i think last year with 3 plants and courgettes every day might have been too much for him.
oh well, off to open the pool and put the washing out.
have a lovely day everyone and i will send some sunshine your way ...

Hello all - just a really quick pop in to do my update (yes the sun must be shining if Ive remembered)
Firstly - lots of gentle thoughts and hugs Kathy to you and family - hoping everything goes well with the assessment and that your sister finds something for Mum soon - I understand all that "red tape" and different departments - my friend has been explaining it all for years now - its awful for the family as its not something we deal with on a daily basis and its hard enough to deal with the illness of a loved one without depts making life complicated xx ps hoping your BIL recovers from the cellulitis soon but he does sounds a fighter so heres hoping and lots of thoughts for him xx
pippa - fabulous news about OH - I often think of you both and think how brave he has been and how much of a fighter you have also been behind every great man is a great woman! xx
Sending huge hugs and lots of gentle thoughts to all of you really whether its fighting weeds or a cold I hope with the sun shining and the warm air it is doing us all the power of good and that there is not too much hard times a going on xx
Here we are busy finishing the packing - although I will say I felt very dispondent and went into panic mode on Friday night - DH went to pay the new landlord our money only for him to say that if the couple who are moving out run over by a few days moving out there is not much anyone can do :eek: - I have a "man and a van" booked for Friday (I cant let DH do it on his own and he wont let me lift anything much so found a bargain man), BT are doing their phone swap on Friday - well everything is being swapped on Friday - plus I just cant afford to pay our landlord here anymore as well as the new place - do I dont know whether to laugh or cry really ....

Mioliere, glad you have lots of free lancing coming in, its suprising what new things you can learn to do isnt it. Glad you are getting lots of support for your Mum. There are lots of good care homes out there - I have a lot of experience in this field as I was a housekeeper for terminally ill ladies for a while and have an elderley family who have needed help over the years.
Mrs Moneypenny thinking of Lily, hope all the prayers and thoughts work x
dpixie can you pop round and fight the good fight with my weeds, they are far more successful than my huge veg plots!
Just been to Wales for the day with Dd,her partner and Dgs. She wanted my OH to have a memorable day before he deteriorates any more. Her partner drove our car so OH could rest and sit in the back with Dd and Dgs. We went to a very small little known beach and it was fabulous. Dd and him made a picnic and thought of everything. We are totally exhausted but very happy and OH will probably spend a couple of days in bed so we have kept the week free to allow for it. I am now going to shower away the sand which is in some very uncomfortable places :rotfl:
Hugs to all, Mr Twins I hope you beat the rules and get to auction the blanket, it need to be out in the world xClearing the junk to travel light

ginnyknit - I really hope OH does not struggle too much in the next week - its so unfair to think that one lovely special day with the family will wipe him out for a week - special hugs and thoughts to you all xx
pippa - thats what we are here for xx (anyway even though weve never met I have a soft spot for the cream cake, sausage roll, cottage pie eating man! hearing him starting to eat every mouthful has been heartwarming) xx
Another "smallish" neckwarmer done - it says in the pattern 4" width - it does not look all that wide to me - tried it on and its quite nice - what do you all think about the width? the pattern says worsted weight - am assuming thats DK?
Anyway night night all xx will be sending special prayers to all those poorly and needing them xxDebt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0 -
