    Hi everyone

Moragtodd - we are about thirty miles south of Poitiers in SW France, in the Deux-Sevres dept (department 79 on the map). We are looking to sell up and move back to the UK permanently; at least, that's the plan. The original idea was to buy a holiday home here, then that somehow turned into a permanent home. We've been here just over three years now, but I miss too much of my life back in the UK; I miss the children and grandchildren, and the British way of life. My mum is not too well, and my sister is taking care of her at the moment. As my sister is not well herself, I want to go back to help them both. France is a beautiful country but just not for me, I'm afraid. And the red tape - well, I've documented it fairly regularly on here; it has almost driven me potty! Everything they say about it is true, in my experience!

Mrs Moneypenny - sewing was my least favourite of all the crafts; I just haven't got the patience, I think!

Well, it's been a typical April day here with blustery showers and strong winds. I think the forecast is for more of the same for the rest of the month. I've been working all day (cleaning and typing), so I shall be getting back in touch with the woolly stuff this evening, although, as DH is working, when I get to sit down depends on when he gets back.

I hope you are all keeping well.

  • What a gorgeous lappie cuddley ghan Chalky, well done you and so nearly moved back into your own space too........that must be so exciting.

Have family visiting for a fortnight, then I am off to UK for a month, so I really have to make the most of my ME TIME...am currently up in the office sorting out boxes for LH - I need to take photo's and list the things in the boxes. Then I really should pack down the knitting machines into their own cupboards and a swift tidy around should do the trick. I then need to use my next bit of free ME TIME is going to be used in the sweatshop....attempting to sort out the things in there for LH....its all go! I would also like to have a bit of sunshine so I can get the new cover onto the polytunnel...well we have enough bodies to assist me. I hope you are all keeping well.

Hiya just thought I'd pop in and say hello

This week has been manic one way and another including today, been in and out so many times I've lost count and it's rained almost all day...but good for the garden and will help fill the reservoirs :)

kathy - I hope your house sells quickly and you can get back to blighty soon...Glad to hear BIL is doing well now it must be such a relief for everyone
MrsTwins - great news on the refund :T
chalky - almost there, it will be sooo exciting like moving into a whole new house:j
mrs-m - how are the twins? hope all went well at the orthodontist
ISOM - hope you are feeling ok
jean - phew you make me tired just reading your post

moragtodd - I was taught to knit at junior school must have been about 7 or 8 I think, I used to get the wool in such a tangle I thought I would never get the hang of it... Sewing I learnt at senior school, my teacher was Mrs Brush I still remember her now, she was such a gentle kind lady with oodles of patience, she taught me all types of sewing from cross stitch to tailoring even how to make my own patterns (something I haven't done for many years) I have loved sewing ever since but only use a sewing machine now, that's when the mood takes me ;)... crochet I taught myself before I got married, that was well over 40 years ago. I didn't do any for a long time then I found this thread picked up my hook and wool and haven't stopped since :)

I started a granny square a couple of nights ago, my friend had been car booting again and gave me a bag full of odds and ends so I put it all in a bag with some of my own and started the granny, there is something about a large granny square that is so relaxing,

Off for a quick look at ravelry then make OH a coffee

    hope all MIA's are well

The last Lappy from Operation Stitch Up 2012!
Thank you to everyone who has sent beautiful squares from far and wide. Making 11 Lappys this Spring has helped to preserve my sanity with all the house renovations going on. I have sat quietly at DMIL'S ( Who can't choose a favourite and is much the same healthwise. Thank you for your kind enquiries! :A)

    001-5.jpg

I have sent one to Lou and 1 to Maytaurus. 8 are winging their way this week and I am going to pop this last 1 away for now so that it is ready for a shout for someone in need.

11 Lappys is an amazing achievement and could not have been achieved without you lovely lot Kissing the Geezers!
So if you want to join in the fun please keep one or more, sets of four six inch squares tucked away and then when we need a Lappy quickly our response is nearly immediate. I will keep any late arrivals until the next project!

I am spending the day pottering/cleaning/sorting at the house. We are hoping to move in (at last ) on Wednesday and I must say it is quite an eye opener to realise how much of said pottering is contained under the umbrella of CRAFTWORK!
It is just as well Doh is having an afternoon off going to watch the Exeter Chiefs, or he would despair at all the crafty things making their way back into the house! I bet he falls asleep though, as he is so tired after working 12+ hours a day lately!

So soon we shall have internet as normal and the time to catch up with you all! I can't wait and have missed you all so much!

I don't think I will ever catch up with 4 months of comings and goings so instead will send you all.old and new a great big hug and lots of love tucked in!
Try and do a good deed every day.

massive hugs to everyone, have so much going on at moment, havent had time to post.
daniel has been attacked twice this week, first time a gang of nine attacked him in his own flat, then yesterday he was attacked again by a group of three. he is currently staying in my spare room, on the floor. up early tommorrow to take him to the vulnerable persons unit, for help finding him temporary accomodation, then packing rest of his belongings and moving them out of his current flat, which he has to leave tommorrow.
thought being a parent got easier once they left home lol
    hugs all

hello everyone, just popped on after a week from hell. My OH has been very ill, rushed to hospital, then back the next day for tests. Luckily on the second day I took my crochet or I would have gone mad. managed to do quite a few squares. Have another blanket for Mrs Twins as soon as I can get to the post office. Just had a look on the Sibol blog and the blankets on there are absolutely beautiful as are all the ones on here - as always - chalky you have worked some lovely shades in your blankets, I love seeing them.

Hope everyone has had a break from stress this weekend. I was just happy to have hubby home and resting rather than running back and forth to the hospital. Hugs to all ginny

no new news on the twins but i got a beautiful photo texted to me at the weekend of them both together, when they were 6 months old the drs allowed lola back to visit her 'little' sister there is such a difference is size you really wouldny believe they are twins.
spent most of yesterday wach eldest Ds jumping about - he had a tramploining comp e did well and came away with a 3rd place bronze medal. so really pleased for him.
