Hope everyone had a good Easter!
Finally finished off the crochet I did while travelling - made a shopping bag (the first pattern I could find online to use up some balls of crochet cotton from years ago) and have lined it with leftover fabrics, so a good recycling job! It will be sold at a craft fair to raise money for a local church project...
Travelling again at the beginning of May so will definitely take the crochet hook again. Now that I've bought one of the recommended little cutters I can use different colour wools so will get some squares made next time - thanks again for the link to that!
I've started a blog to keep a record of my travelling crochet (travelcrochet.blogspot.co.uk)...

Hi everyone; I have really been MIA lately. We've almost finished taking down the barn; it's just the timbers to go now, but it's been a heck of a job. Rain stopped play a few times; after days and days of lovely warm sunshine, we've had some wet and windy weather. Still, I know we need the rain, so I'm not going to complain too much!

We went to a local Easter Fayre at a bar run by friends at the weekend (had lovely fish and chips, too), so that was Saturday taken care of. I had just a glass of red wine and was fit for nothing for the rest of the day - I don't know how the French can drink during the day; it does me in!

I'm still having trouble with Google, Jean, so am trying to sort that out. I shall have another go today.

We have someone coming to look at the house this morning, so I need to do a bit of a tidy up.

In between helping DH with the demolition job and cooking, cleaning, etc., I've had a lot of online work. I've suddenly got really busy and have been recommended to others; today I have a 1000 word article to do (about online backups) which I've been asked to do on the strength of work I did for someone else, so things are looking up in that direction. It's all money towards our next trip back home (whenever that is) to treat the grandchildren with, and to spend on wool.

Elaine - I can hardly believe that Little Man is two years old! I hope he had a lovely birthday!

Kittie - welcome to you. I hope you enjoy it here. I have tingly hands when I knit (it's not so bad when I crochet). It turns out that I have tendonitis in my hands, and that's what causes it. There's not much that can be done about it, except taking painkillers when it gets really bad, but I find that my hands are better if I keep using them. Resting them seems to make them worse. I do much more crochet these days, though, because it's a lot less painful.

DPixie - how sad for your friend and his son. It must be dreadful for the whole family.

Mrs Moneypenny - how are the twins doing?

Chalky - at the painting stage, eh? I bet you thought that day would never come!

Moragtodd - I shall go and take a look at your blog in a minute!

Thanks for all your totals. I really hope to get the update done some time today.

    Have a great day, everyone.

where do I start? My first time on this thread after finding a site called `loving hands`. Is it fate?

I have been looking at my rather large stash of good wool and was wondering what to make, bearing in mind that the grandchildren need nothing

Help me, guide me please. I was a good knitter and have knitted for 55 years but lately had a gap of a few years. My hands go tingly after prolonged sessions so I need to knit things which I can put down and easily pick up again :)

I can also thoroughly recommend the Mayflower Angel Claire Bodywarmer. I've currently got a slipped disc and can't knit for any length of time either and find that I can manage one or two rows of this at a time and it still grows quick enough not to get frustrated. It's also small enough to cart around in my handbag - it's quite a good advertisement too as people always think that I am knitting dolls clothes so I can explain about LH.

I have also been trying to knit a newborn size Paxton Jacket. The rows are much longer and I can just about do one at a time but the progress is slower - trying to master the magic circle sleeves at the moment, in between bodywarmers. It's a lovely pattern too but it will depend on whether you can manage the number of stitches - I don't know about you but I hate having to stop mid-row.

    Hi Full-time-mum

I shall have to check that pattern out. I don't do a lot of knitting these days; I prefer crochet because it's easier on my hands, but I like anything that grows quickly!

As for stopping mid-row, I remember my Mum, when she was teaching me to knit (many summers ago!) telling me not to stop mid-row because when you put the needles together side by side, it can form a small hole in the knitting, so I've always avoided it. When I've been tempted, I hear her voice telling me off! I sympathise with your slipped disc; I had that about ten years ago, and I can well remember the awful pain it caused. I was only lifting the hoover from one room to the next at the time, not doing anything that you'd think would cause it. It's made me very wary about my back ever since. I hope you feel a lot better soon. I would love to see the Paxton Jacket when you've finished it.

Well, I'm just taking a break from work and enjoying a cuppa before I get back to it. I have a deadline for this particular job, so I will be glad to get it done, then I can relax a bit.

Hope you are all having good days.

    Hi everyone

Thanks to Jean (yet again; what would I do without her?), I do believe I have finally updated the spreadsheet to show all our totals. Jean has made the spready easy accessible to me now, so it should be a doddle to keep it up. I have also successfully (well, it was there when I checked!) added the correct URL to my 'homepage' so you should all be able to access the totals now. You need to click into my nme at the side of any of my posts on here, then go to my 'homepage', then click into the link.

Please let me know if there are any mistakes, and I will put them right immediately.

Thanks for all your lovely totals!

I hope you are all having a great day!

F1 - I don't know why it's done that! Hopefully, Jean will be along later to shed some light on it. She's the expert; I just bow to her superior knowledge!
