Evening all
I have read right through but my head is like a bucket with a hole in at the moment ...nothing stays in :rotfl:
We had a lovely time in Devon catching up with friends, relatives etc pity the weather was ***swear word*** never mind didn't stop us enjoying ourselves.
DS1/DIL and the girls booked a caravan at a camp in Teignmouth so we all got together, DIL's Mum lives in Honiton so we met up and all went out for a nosh and natter
Called in at BIL and SIL's in Wootton-under-Edge on the way home on Sunday their DGD's were there so was their DD so that was another good old chinwag over food as well...O dear my waistline and everything else is growing when I really need to be shrinking...
I got quite a few Sailors hats and some Mrs Twins squares done...and a friend on our site asked me to show her how to do the ripple blanket, then Jan my long time friend asked for a refresher on the granny blanket, so it was busy, busy...

Still here just pottering away but no charity stuff...my mojo appears to have emigrated! Getting better each day and back to work on 3th which will be a shock to the system I suspect! My hex blanket is coming on-want to finish it by the time i go back to work.
Had a hair cut and a student will dye it today! eek! I normally do a pack but thought for a change it would be nice to have it done properly...cant do it worse than me!
Mrs M I can understand the worry thing ...I try to just do what I can and then when things keep going round and round have a firm word with myself..sometimes works!
Chalky house is looking gorgeous...sure you cant wait to be in!

Customs Charges USA.
If you remember ladies 4 weeks ago I was sent a £82.00 Customs charge bill. A parcel of 100 Olympic Squares coming in from the states.
Well I sent off my BOR 286 form to them. This morning I rang for an update and the man told me I am getting a full refund.
So if anyone gets custom charges they don't agree with then please challenge them.
Thanks so much for everyones support on MSE.

Hi everyone
Pippa - welcome back. Hope you had a good time.
ISOM - glad you're getting better!
Mrs Moneypenny - hugs to those dear little twins.
Jean - hope we can catch up at some point re the update spready. It seems that some people have been able to view it, so that's progress. Hope you've managed to sort out your driving licence. I need to get on with mine once I've photocopied all the documents I need to take. It's such a palaver here, isn't it?
Chalky - that blinding light is looking good!
Mrs Twins - well done on getting that refund. I am SO pleased for you.
Well, from having to search for online work, I almost daren't say it but I have a little too much of it now, so I'm having to concentrate on that at the moment. It's always to deadlines, so it keeps me on my toes! We've had a few house viewings but we're up against the fact that the French don't like stairs! (Ridiculous, I know, but that's the problem!), so we're having to tweak the adverts to say that we have a 'bedroom on the ground floor currently being used as an office - in French, of course). We did have an offer and get asked if we wanted to sign the first contract but, as the so-called buyers haven't even put their house on the market yet, we didn't dare sign. Their house could be up for sale for months, even years, because the market is so slow here, and we could be stuck just waiting. It was a bit of a cheek for them to ask, really. Someone else wanted to rent for a year from October, so we had to turn that down; we may have been tempted because we could have rented a house back in the UK for the year, but it's notoriously difficult to get tenants out here, so we had to turn that one down, too. One day, surely, we'll find a buyer.
I am desperate to get back to the UK. I want to be able to help with my Mum's care, and to give my sister a break. We've had some brilliant news about my BIL - his latest blood test has produced good results regarding his liver. He has another scan next week, so the doctors are being what they call 'cautiously optimistic' until the see the results of that, but it's looking better than we could have hoped. It was his and my sister's wedding anniversary at the weekend; to think, this is the second one they've had since he was sent home to spend his last days with his family - it's not much short of a miracle!
Well, I must get some squares packed up to go in various directions, and I will try and do that this weekend. I don't know where the time goes lately. I keep dozing off in the evenings because I think my poor ageing brain works overtime during the day!
I hope you all have a great day.

Still haven't read through all the thread to work out who's who etc! Lots of reading to do...
I've started making granny squares to use up a large bag of leftover bits and bobs - not just mine, I inherited my Mum's leftovers too when she died a few years back, and have just got round to looking through them. Brought back some memories of things she'd done! Did most members learn their crafting at home as I did?
Kathy - where in France is the house you're selling? And are you planning a permanent return to UK or temporary? Whichever, hope the plans go well.Morag

hi morag,
my mum taught me how to knit (well tried im a lefty so after a few failed attempts i sort of figured it out myself) mum also muddled me through a granny square but ive managed to pick more crochet up via youtube tutorials and advice on here. we had the most amazing lady who taught us needle work at school so my crossstitch and sewing skills are down to her (thank you mrs Hodby:A) in my BC life (Before Chilren) i was an overlocker and machinist so expanded my sewing skills there and ended up being the sample machinist for a ladies fashion factory. so skills were pretty much gathered over the years i pick things up where i can as you never know what will become useful.
it must be a bit daunting and emotional going through some of your mums ufo projects but i hope the bags also contain happy memories.SPC~12 ot 124
