    Hi everyone

Shaz - I am SO happy for you. He sounds wonderful!

Mrs Twins - what a horrid shock for you. I really hope you can get the charges reduced.

Jean - hope you aren't doing too much.

Mrs Moneypenny - hope the little one is doing well.

Well, I've been MIA for a few days. I've been doing a lot of freelance writing, which is a very good thing, but it does take time. Still, it's earning, I enjoy it, and I hope to build on it. I've actually been building a website for it, so I shall post a link when it's up and running. I hope it will get me more work, though how I shall find the time to do it, I don't know!

Chalky, I made my Mum a Mothering Sunday card using one of the papers you sent me from China, and one of your daisies (from your lovely pattern) but I forgot to take a photo of it! If I say so myself, it looked lovely! A blue-patterned paper square with a white daisy on the top, and a little white heart in the corner. I just wished I'd remembered to take a photo. Doh! Hope DD2 is enjoying being back at home, and that she has met William now. What a special moment that must have been!

Anyway, not much woolly stuff lately, but I hope to sort that out over the next day or two. I have squares that need the ends sewing in, so I'll make myself do that first.

I must also update my blog. Tomorrow will be an 'at home in the office' day, I think.

My Mum is doing as well as can be. A care team is visiting tomorrow to sort out a care package, so I'm hoping something can be arranged to help give my dear sister a break. I spoke to them both recently, and they both seemed very upbeat. I'm sure the diagnosis, as horrid as it is, has sort of made a difference to how they feel. At least they know what it is. BIL is doing remarkably well, and has even taken a couple of trips on his motorbike, something we never dreamed he would ever do again.

The weather here is absolutely perfect today, so I hope it lasts. The only fly in the ointment was a letter from the electricity company telling me that I haven't paid my last bill, which I have, so I had to take a trip into the office to point it out! That's France for you!

Well, hugs to all who are in need.

been busy doing nothing all day today friends DH popped round yeasterday to say he could pull or kitchen floor in today if i got the prep done so spent afternoon evening and first thing gutting the kitting and frantically trying to find places to stash all the appliances the cupboards and everything in or on them in other parts of the house or grounds (the garage and covered drive came in very handy LOL) ive finished knitting another body warmer, done all my ironing and basically faffed about cant cook or do washing as cooker and washing machine are disonnected and in worng rooms anyway so tea tonoght will be via the local chippy or the bread bin.
DH is off tomorrow so we will be visiting my mum and probally choosing kitchen paint or even painting doubt ill get time to come in here so ill wish you all a happy and peaceful weekend and special hugs to all the mums on sunday (even specialer* hugs for those who wont be with their mums)

Hello and lots of love to one and all. The gentlest thoughts to everyone with their hands overflowing.
Lots going on in everybody's lives at the moment methinks and I am so looking forward to catching up with everybody properly really soon x

Firstly I want to send special wishes for Mothering Sunday. Have a lovely time if you are lucky enough to be spending it with your Mum or will be able to have a chat on the phone. Or, if like me you no longer have your dear Mum to spoil I hope you have a moment to remember such a special person with loving thoughts. Talking of Mum's, a very special new Mum will be sharing our Mothering Sunday!!! William is coming for the weekend with his lovely Mummy and Daddy. DMIL is so looking forward to it. It will give her a real boost.
I always find Mothering Sunday a challenge when we are away in Spain but this year it is going to be UBER special -- DD2 is back. William is coming and DD1 is cooking lunch. Perfect methinks!

I will update pictures of the house really soon as there is a definite light at the end of the tunnel!!

Please enjoy your weekends whatever you are doing and have a cuddle from me if life is a bit sad at this emotive time xx
Try and do a good deed every day.

Hello and welcome moragtodd here are some...:)

    http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory.php

There are loads of patterns on Ravelry as well, you have to join but a lot of the patterns are free.

The US crochet terms are a bit confusing here are the most usual ones:-

    US UK
    sc...dc
    dc...tr

welcome MORAGTODD. I also used to get so fed up with US patterns - I am fairly new to crochet. I only know they are US patterns when I see the hook using an alphabet letter instead of numbers. I was also guided by taking the US patterns down into a word document, then doing a search and replace of the US terms....most important to do the US double crochet into UK trebles FIRST....then do the US single crochet into UK double crochet and finally do the US trebles/double trebles etc into UK double treble/triple treble.
If you let us know what sort of patterns (baby, child, etc) I will happily go search some out for you. The majority of sites on line seem to be US
    try...

the following link to ravelry I asked for UK CROCHET and ticked the FREE BOX........Came up with quite a few - you may have to join but its free

    I hope this helps

Thanks Pippa S and roamin in the gloamin. I'll have a look at those sites... meanwhile I've found one at coatscraft and will have a go at one of their patterns this weekend. The reason I'm looking for crochet ideas is that I travel a lot, and waste time sitting in airports where I can't take sewing or knitting through security - but I'm hoping a crochet hook will pass!

    Hi Everyone!
Just to let you know that I have received the parcel from the States today and I have written a 'begging letter' to the appropriate people. So fingers crossed.
The Flag Squares are simply amazing and if you would like to pop over to SIBOL you will see them in their full glory!
I am still terribly upset about these charges and I am doing my best to resolve the matter.

We were also in 'Knit Today' yesterday nominated 'Club of the MOnth'. So we are on a roll........
