    Hello one and all -
    Shaz -- Go girl!
Psso Glad you had a lovely time
Mrs Twins What a shame --- Hope you get that sorted somehow --- I do know you want to sort this out yourself but I know all your lovely followers would want to help SIBOL--- so in that case you need not think of it in such a personal way. 50p donations via paypal would make such a difference if you cant get it sorted.

Lots of love to one and all.

Having a wonderful time with DD and the weather is gorgeous here at the moment so she has taken Buster up to Dartmoor with some friends.

Latest Lappy --- Thank yo to all who donated the lovely squares -- hope you can see them xx

Mrs Twins...how horrible for you! Must be very upsetting. I am good at dealing with official stuff and if I can be of help let me know - I would need all ref no's etc but happy to help if I can. My mum gets so upset and flustered by anything official that i do much of hers and it would be a pleasure to help if I can. If you want to have a bash yourself Ive had a look and it appears as long as the item is labelled as a gift and below £40 in value it should be ok. BUT if it came in a huge box I suspect that customs will assume that labelling isnt necessarily honest and will try and get dosh out of you.
From reading it I suspect the best way of getting round this is to ring and explain...details below:
"There are a number of other circumstances where relief from some or all customs charges may be available. If you think your goods may be eligible for a relief you should contact the Excise and Customs Helpline on Tel 0845 010 9000 for further information."
Let me know if you have further specific questions...good to be of use while Im recouperating and feeling useless!
Meanwhile a big hug for you as know that must have been an awful shock and very upsetting - not to mention expensive! If you have to pay I really dont think people would mind helping at all...a quid here and there wouldnt be missed by most and sure they would rather assist than have you SO out of pocket...
Anyway hope that is of help and let me know if I can help in any way!

Sorry didnt get to finish rest as visitors arrived!
Socky enjoy your date; sounds lovely! Look forward to hearing the details on your return!!
    Psso you gallavanter you! Enjoy!
Chalky well done on another lapghan! So lovely that DMIL keeping busy. I know that there have been plenty of times where knitting/crochet have literally saved my sanity so can understand her wanting to carry on...
Mrs M you have been busy!
Well a fairly busy day here and I am whacked! My friend took me to have my staples out and literally held my hand. Nurse said it would be a slight pinch but was more like an injection! Not major pain but definate discomfort, 27 times!! Look well healed though and itching which is good as shows healing. All in all think I am doing ok for someone only a week out of surgery just have to pace myself and it's all very new! Then took my friend for a nice cuppa and came home; not long after friend arrived with her two children and they have just left to be followed by another in a minute! The choir that I am in has a choir that meets the whole year and another that meets twice a year; mum will be going with T to the one that meets twice a year but she will get to sing at St Davids Hall which she will be chuffed about! This eve will just be resting up after a busy day! Tomorrow will be a quiet day getting used to my new phone when it arrives...very exciting!! big hugs for all and even bigger (but gentle) ones for those struggling or with things on their plates..

    Hi Everyone!
I would like to thank everyone that has commented about the parcel from the States. I am most grateful to you all for your advice and concern.

I have been making enquiries and the problem was the high value put on the parcel. Post Offices in the States do tend to put high values as well as the person sending because of 'insurance purposes'. Of course when the parcel reached the UK, the charges incurred were because of this.

I had a word with a very nice man and he said the best thing to do when sending from the States is to put it as a 'Gift' and put a low value like £5.00/£10.00. He said if they don't put anything that causes suspicion.

At the end of the day I explained that the box only enclosed 6" Knitted 'well Crocheted' Squares and they didn't really have a value 'as such'. Well we all know that they do have a value to someone who receives the blanket, but you know what I mean.

I had to make my mind what I wanted to do. So I have therefore now paid the charges myself and the man gave me instructions on how to get the charges reduced. I have to take the label off the box and download a form from their website and apply that way.

The Lady in question has offered to pay the charges herself but I am doing my best to get the charges knocked down.

It may have helped if I was a 'registered charity' but there were not guarantees even if I was.
So I'm hoping that these charges will be reduced and I will let you all know as soon as I hear anything.

    Thanks so much everyone!
    Love and Best Wishes Suex
