    Hello everyone

Been MIA for a few days again, sooo much going on.
We are having the girls next week :jwhile their Mummy and Daddy are decorating their bedroom.
We will pick them up from DS1 and DIL at Oxford services so we all only have half a journey IYSWIM.
Really looking forward to them being here, must go do the beds :)

Went out for the day yesterday to see some friends we met in Benidorm 3 years ago and got on so well with we have met up there in February for the last 2 years.
They rang and asked if we were going again next year so it looks like our Feb holiday is sorted :T
We only go to the one hotel its a 4* all inclusive just a little out of the resort itself but only takes 15 mins to walk in. Benidorm is the kind of place you don't go to in the season unless you like crowds, definitely the wrong time to go unless you like it heaving.
So OH is on the comp upstairs checking prices, well it keeps him quiet ;)

mrs_moneypenny - I am sorry to hear your FIL is so ill. I am thinking of you and will send a little prayer for you and your family. I hope the parcel turns up so annoying when that happens.
Jean - yes the caravan was saved thank goodness :) ooo shingles is awful, glad you are up and about again but don't go overdoing it, or you'll end up back in bed....I speak from experience,OH caught chickenpox from DS1 many moons ago and as he had to be off work he decided to decorate the bedroom, he ended up back in bed with the whole room a shambles!!! but luckily he has'nt has shingles.
kinsey - thanks for the links, OH has printed the angel off for me, looking at it I can see what you mean about being fiddly ;)
kathy - you have set my imagination going with the lacy net and lilac plants, sounds lovely.
shaz - hope the good behaviour tactics work x
salome - sounds like the ideal job for you hope all goes well

Have been doing a few bunting's over the last few days for shelley. I have finished the ripple blanket for my sister just need to edge it off now but that will be when it has relaxed a bit ;)
Found quite a few ends of furry wool so will have a go at some hedgehogs I think.
Must make a start on IS hats, I meant to last week but kept getting side-tracked.

    Off for lunch now

    ooo what a ramble :o
  • :kisses:Glad the bag pattern is going down a treat, it really is a doddle even for non sewers (my Dear sis managed one under instructrion).
DH rushed off this afternoon and came back with another knitting machine for me - he saw it advertised and its an ARAN/CHUNKY knit one - BARGAIN he says....well it would be if it had come with an instruction manual. So I have spent a good hour on the internet seeing just what is what with it, I should be grateful it at least came with all its bits and pieces. Hope to get around to it tomorrow in peace and quiet probably only going to try it out on animal blankets or lap blankets for the time being, until I can get some more patterns and get used to it.. Bear in mind I am still only learning the other knitting machine I have. He is a lovely tho' - must have felt guilty for watching all the bike STUFF on the tv this past couple of weeks. Feeling much better in myself but will take off to bed early and probably stay late in the morning - NO NEED to rush back into things is there? LH launch of new challenge is SUNDAY I believe.....Lou is threatening 1 and 2 ply wool on skinny number 14 (2mm) needles!!!!OMG! Back tomorrow then.

Evening all...eventful day here! Went to Gp this am who has signed me off until 16th Aug, as per occupational health recommendation. Have at last found out where I will be working ...not an area I have been worked in (teenagers so I may be asking for your adcice socky!) or would have chosen and it will take some time to absorb. I have huge concerns on a number of levels and hope to have a meeting to talk things through....
Knitting wise I am a few rows into the shrug and am worried its not looking as it should but will continue on a bit!
Having a morning out with friend tomorrow. Friends came with their two children for supper - yummy pasta. The little boy, T, is very affectionate and gives me lovely huggles which feels great after the "news!"
Mrs M really hope the parcel arrives safe and sound..gutted for you, esp with all thats going on around you at the moment
Chalky your package went off today...sorry no note as was rushed to get post - as you can prob tell by the wrapping lol!
Seakay I have some bits for you!
Hugs those that need/want them! Off to bed I go!

Hi everyone. Quiet on here again but it's a busy time of year for everyone, especially those with children off school.

ISOM - hope you can sort out the things you're concerned about at work.

Shaz - hope things are going well.

Pippa - I bet you can't wait until the girls come to stay! Have a wonderful time with them.

Jean - hope you're feeling a lot better today but, as others have said, don't try and do too much.

Well, I've been shopping this morning, getting stocked up with supplies for our visitors next week. Besides food, I had to buy myself some new sandals - DH has put up a basketball hoop for the grandchildren next week, but last night we decided to 'shoot a few hoops' as the Americans say, and we spent over half an hour playing. Heaven only knows what the neighbours thought! Anyway, I broke a strap on my favourite sandals (not ideal footwear for basketball!). I found some in the sale today for just €6 so I was really pleased - they're just what I wanted. I also found a shop which had a great sale on of children's clothes so I went a bit mad and bought some things for Summer. When you can get a little raincoat for €5 and a cardi for €2, you can't turn it down, can you? I also bought her a little grey dress and a couple of other things in a size larger so they will make lovely Christmas pressies. Another shop was selling light-up keyrings at 2 for €1 and they will be lovely with some beads added to them - even more Christmas pressies sorted out!

I've not had much time spare to knit or crochet lately - we're just so busy sorting out the house for DS1 and his family, and I can't concentrate on anything else.

Anyway, hope you are all having a good day.

    KathyXX

hi all, it has been qiet here today. finished a pair of socks for one son this morning, now just about to start on a pair for other son. kids are ok, and easy to manage, so long as they are in different rooms or are supervised. you'd think 2, 15 year olds could be left together whilst i nip to loo, but no thats when they start being physical with each other, hitting and kicking.
done somet completely un-mse today, and bought a new car, last one was only 2 year old, but i had gone off the colour lol
anyway on monday, i have a brand new lovely shade of blue car to pick up, kids looking forward to new car too, more like they cant wait to see how loud stereo goes lol
anyway best get a sock started,
    hugs all

  • Evening all -
Just having a quick catch-up with myself, and finished packing a parcel for Lou. Will post total update shortly.

Been a busy day here today -- DS was at a friend's birthday party from 1pn to 4pm, and we went shopping "just for a few things". Ended up buying a load from the butcher's for my birthday BBQ tomorrow (which my dad is kindly hosting as there is more room there for all family and the kids to run around), the usual shopping stuff, some shoes for me (oops) and...a new bike for DS!! He's only just learnt to ride without stabilisers (bless, he's 5) and his bike was way too small for him, so we were on the lookout for a second hand right size for him - my little brother spotted one in one of the local "We Buy Anything" shops, so we popped down. It was perfect, and was only £30.

The little squeal of delight when he saw it on his return from the party was priceless.....awwww.

So, am busy packing parcels for Lou, Shelly and some Ravelry stuff I am doing (the swaps and RAKs are fab...) to all get posted off next week at some point.

Last week at work this coming week for a couple of weeks - I have an interview on the 2nd August for a job I don't really want (it's internal - more hours (only 4 more which takes me to full-time); a little more money BUT is working within a team of 3 (I am currently in a wonderful team of 7), with more stress (potentially) and less flexibility. I shall go for the interview and see what happens - or do you all think I am crackers? On second thoughts, don't answer that one!!

So, bottle of wine is calling my name, and then bubble bath and bed -- I need early nights cos I is getting old (or will be tomorrow)

Love to everyone, and special birthday girl hugs to everyone who wants to catch one!

Sorry for lack of personals -- I do love you all really!!

    Dawn xxxx xx xx

PS: Shaz - can I have a new car too??? Mine died at Christmas, and is still on the drive....feeling sad! x
    :hello:

Evening ladies - im so sorry ive been missing - have you missed me? tee hee
i have tried to lurk but my head is mushy so im sorry if i miss anything as someone else said - i love you all really! xx
sock - i admire you so very much - am sorry that the boys are being more than tough at the moment - i really dont know how you do it - one child with a problem is more than enough but two - you deserve so much praise - well done on buying a new car - thinking of you and big hugs xxxx
mrs m - so very sorry that your FIL is so very ill - I dont really know what to say other than we are all thinking of you and are here if you need us - much love to you and your family xxx
maytaurus - we are missing you and sending you my love - hoping you are ok - very worrying when you dont pop in xxxx

The bag pattern is really good - Im just wondering whether i could try it - sewing is definately a no no i this house !!!

chalky - i showed the boys your blog as DS wanted to do one (i think he is a little young personally!!!) - DH thought it was fantastic and really professionally done - so you have another fan! DS was loving the teddy bears and could not believe you had knitted them - chalky when do you go back to spain? - would you like the spanish hats ongoing or only up to the end of this year say?

Life in the F1 household has not been its happiest lately - poor hubby has just about had enough of me!!! he works so very hard and long hours and is very patient with me but is so missing not going out together - there are other things as well so I have persuaded him to go and have a chat with doctor on Monday

It was my birthday in the week (although I did not much feel in the birthday mood - did not see my family as none of them felt like coming and MIL & FIL have been busy with SIL's children both weekends) have decided that 39 sounded awful so im 38 (again!) anyway im just about over my midlife bad mood (for this week anyway tee hee!)

Ive waffled enough so had better shut up - its the LH's new challenges tommorow (im embarrased as i dont have very much done lately and I had really better get some parcels off! - chalky and shezmit - i only have a few bits for LH's so may leave sending until I have much more) and i have not forgotton Mrs M's bits.
Love and hugs to you all and will try harder to spend a bit more time with you all xx

ps happy birthday for tomorrow Dawn !!! xx
