Hi Jean - still baking hot here. Yesterday, it reached 41 degrees -too hot for doing anything energetic. This morning DH is finishing off painting the outside of the house and I am, for my sins, attempting to do the ironing! We are out for most of the afternoon and a 'strong' thunderstorm has been predicted, so I shall be unplugging everything before we leave! Hope you manage to get your painting done before it gets too hot!

    Lots of hugs to everyone.

    hi everyone
was asked to be at the hospital for 7.30 am, and wasnt taken to theatre til 5pm, as other urgent cases had come in. anyway op went well, as far as they can tell at this stage, and i have wires inside my wrist holding the bone together. have to go to clinic in two weeks for xrays, and then we'll know whether the op was successful. then a further 6 weeks in pot.
    welcome to the thread, full-time-mum
    hugs all

  • Welcome full time mum; just popping in at lunch to say hi!
Socky good to hear it went well, if a bit later than hoped....just go gently-always take a while for the anasthetic to work its way out of your body so youre bound to feel tired.......
No woolly stuff done but am giving wool away as got SOOOO much of it!
Hope people are ok. Big hugs!

Afternoon all, finally seem to have got the broadband connection working again :T fingers crossed anyway.
Managed to read through the last few pages so big hugs to those who are feeling poorly, have wrist problems - frustrating when you can`t do the woolly stuff or drive isn`t it socky? You might manage soon when you get used to the cast being on. DD had her wrist plastered a couple of years ago and she managed to do most things quite well after the initial pain lessened.Hope Josh is feeling better about things today.
Pippa, go easy too, sprains can be every bit as painful as breaks.

Maytaurus - huge gentle hugs for you and yours just now. A difficult time for everyone but I know you`ll miss your mum terribly.

F1 - who`s a clever girl then. That cake is lovely. Knitting in lace is quite easy to work with isn`t it and makes things so pretty.

fulltimemum - welcome aboard. I`m still trying to work out how the wasp search brought you to us ?? Never mind, you are in good company here. I use double knitting and old size 8 needles, 4mm if you are more modern, and cast on about 32 stitches then just knit every row or knit one row then purl the next, depending if you want garter stitch or stocking stitch to keep it simple. I often vary the stitches I use just to keep things interesting.

Jean, don`t do too much of the painting malarkey. The doctor won`t be happy with you if you overdo things.

Well, latest news here is I have a new job. Started two weeks ago, on 6 week trial, so we`ll see how it goes. Working in the coffee shop of a local garden centre 3-4 days a week so not so much time for woolly pastimes, will have to be more organised now. Good thing is I`ll maybe have some spare pennies for stash building. ;) Did I really say that ? Might have to sell some first to make room for more.:o

Big black clouds overhead so better go and take in the washing.
Enjoy the rest of the day.

    Morning all

Havent been in for a few days, no knitting done either had to stop as it was too painful so the Hugs boots will have to be a UFO for a while, but by leaving wooly stuff alone for a few days it has made a difference and wrist seems to be getting better, havent driven either so thats helped as well...too impatient by half I am :o

:wave:Hello and welcome to you full-time-mum you will love it in here everyone is very friendly, as others have said the square is the easiest as it can be picked up any time and they are always needed, 6"" or 8"" are the usual size, in any colour plain or stripe's anything really, and the best thing is no bits of wool are wasted:)
psso - ooo what a lovely job... a garden centre coffee shop, hope the trial goes well and you get the job
shaz - I hope the op has worked, how is Josh now?
kathy - hope your 'electrics' are ok now and the thunderstorms have gone, 40 degrees  I would have melted can't stand too much heat
may - take it eeeeeasy (yes I am singing it) do you think thats why is persisting down ouside:rotfl:
ISOM - yes go with the gut feeling can't go far wrong with that
seakay - thanks for the thumbs up on the IS Hats,

Sounds like OH is up and about so better go make some fresh tea, he has an appointment with the consultant tomorrow to check if his gums have healed and swelling has gone down enough for the mask to be made, I think he will be glad when the treatment finally starts.

    Hi

Please can some one tell me where this year has gone??? Don't think I have ever seen a year fly by so quickly as it has this year. I can't believe that the summer hols will soon be over, and home schooling will be in full action again.
My knitting needles have been feeling neglacted, with only a minimal amount of knitting getting done :-( Still, hoping to amend that this week, as we're off in the caravan for a long weekend, and my knitting bag is coming with me :-)
Have a blessed and prosperous day. Hugs to all who needs one ((((hugs))))
