    Hi everyone

Maytaurus - thinking of you and sending hugs.

Shaz - I'm so sorry to hear about your wrist. That must have been so painful and, of course, it's going to be a real nuisance, isn't it? I hope it heals quickly so that you can get back to normal - especially driving and, of course, being able to cuddle those guinea pigs. Would love to see some photos of them - when you get the chance.

Well, it's bank holiday here today so I'm hoping that this will be the start to a less challenging week Chez Mioliere. There's been such a lot going on lately - seems all of us in our little group in this corner of France have needed some help - us with our communication problems, one couple with car problems - luckily, we could let them use DH's van; another couple with humping and dumping furniture - we lent our brute force; someone else needing some letters typing up - I'm more than happy to do that, and our neighbours needing emergency dog and rabbit-sitting! Bless them, they had the chance to go camping with family but it poured with rain the whole time they were away, so they came back early yesterday. We went over to feed and walk the dog, and there they all were climbing out of the car looking completely bedraggled - you wouldn't think it could get like that here, espcially in August. Still, the dog was delighted to have them back!

Our neighbouring farmer has two lovely border collies; they spend their days running around the fields at ninety miles an hour, and use their herding skills to put the cows back into their barn, even if the cows don't want to go there! One of the dogs has taken to calling on us for a bowl of water every day - she's completely irresistible, and so friendly. She spends about half an hour with us, then the other collie calls her back home!

Well, last week's update is done, and I'll do the latest one this morning. I'm going to try and take it easy this week, as long as I don't get any unexpected interruptions!

Jean - I think the insurance here is such a joke. During our lightning bolt experience, we lost a TV, two satellite receivers, and a phone, and my PC needed emergency treatment. The TV and one of the satellite boxes were quite old, but the other box and the phone were fairly new. When we tried to start a claim on our contents insurance, we were told that we needrd to provide receipts for everything (the TV must be about eight years old and the receipt has completely faded!), then go out and buy replacements, then they will work out the claim, deducting the €200 excess, and 10% less for every year of age of each item. It's barely worth it; we reckon it would cost about €800 to replace everything but, by the time they've calculated things out, we certainly wouldn't get that much back. Is that how they do things here? It's completely the opposite to how it works in the UK. The health insurance, too, is a joke. I've spent about ten weeks chasing up a remboursement that I was told would be in my account within ten days. In the end, after several attempts to get the insurance agent to do his job, I had to go straight to the head office. Makes you wonder what you pay premiums for, doesn't it? I'm going to cancel the health insurance, anyway; it was only a small amount of money this time but, one day, it could be hundreds of euros, and I don't fancy having to wait while they slowly get round to making the payment!

We had a day of non-stop rain yesterday. When DS2 and his family Skyped in the morning, they said it was lovely back in the UK. I think the forecast is for sun today; the farmers certainly need it and we do, too, because DH is painting the outside of the house. He was hoping to get it finished yesterday but rain stopped play. Anyway, it's a lot worse for people in other parts of the world, so I really must not complain.

Anyway, I shall get this week's update done asap, and I will definitely try and catch up with all the posts I missed when I was incommunicado!

    may, thinking of you xxx
my friend L and her daughter FE came to visit me this morning, and to see babies of course. FE is only 7 and was so excited, so her mum got them out of the cage, and we spent a good hour talking to them and giving them cuddles, L placed them on my lap so i could hold and stroke them with my good hand, was lovely, so they are so cute, and of course it was lovely to see my friend and her daughter, they also brought me a mag to read too.
kath, hope your taking it easy week goes to plan

    Afternoon all
We had a very busy time in Devon closing the caravan down, I was a disaster waiting to happen I think I was all over the place falling over my own shadow,...and no I didnt partake of a 'wee dram'...I sprained my wrist the day before we went down, 2 days later I fell out of the van, because I had moved the steps and forgot:o no serious damage done but bruised and a bit tender... ah well could have been worse... OH said " thats what you get for bungee jumping without the elastic" flippin cheek :rotfl:

mrs-moneypenny - hope you had a nice time in Norfolk, its somewhere we always said we would like to visit
Maytaurus - I am so sorry to hear of your sad loss, sending gentle (((hugs))) for you and your family x
jean - the waterlilly looks good but they do sometimes come out a bit wonky, give it another go and I bet it will be better, you know what they say practice makes perfect ;)
kathy - phew what a marathon of problems poor you, hope it all calms down now
Shaz - ouch !!! poor little babies no cuddles, but strokes are just as good and very calming :)(for the stroker as well)
Seakay - sooo annoying when Doc's do that, hope you get better treatment next time. sending you a ((hug)) x

So the reason why not much knitting got done is my sprained wrist, but its getting better slowly. Funny though crochet I could manage with not too much of a problem
I do have a few things to update so will do that next

We are off to DS2/DIL's this PM to see DGS ooo I do miss him when we are away
