Miol sorry that things are so stressful for you; life for you does seem an uphill battle at present and there is nowt worse than feeling rubbish...
Socky I can highly reccomend a cat. You may remember in the dark days that I rehomes mine but only lasted a week with no cat at all; the house was empty and miserable without a cat and Ill never be without one again. I can strongly reccomend a tabby as a loving companion-in my experience black/black&white cats tend to be either bonkers or a bit nuts (ie . of the happy one minute and grab your arm off the next variety!); ginger cats are ok but seem to not be as affectionate as tabbies...so my reccomendation would be for a girlie tabby...a boy if you get an older one as the spraying tends to be revolting in boys whove not been "amended"!! Go for it I say! Roaming love the cat cartoon!! As for wool mine was hugely interested when she was a baby but now seems more interested in knocking things (like my case full of bobbins!) off shelves and chase them! Naughty but I wouldnt be without her and she is adored by the two of us! Keep us posted and do go to a shelter if you get one...so many unwanted cats out there...esp good if you dont mind an older cat as people so often dont want them.
Mum is back tomorrow having been away for a week trying to sort her flat out and declutter. Apparently she has been lethal, although her version of lethal and mine may differ!! Still feeling rotton with this virus which I cant shift so will prob be home tom trying to get shot of it...have had so much on in work that I havent been able to be ill!!
Off to chill with a bit of hookness...my project is almost finished and Ill share a piccy when I can find camera etc!

Hi everyone
Maytaurus - thinking of you.
Shaz - hope things are a little easier now.
Jean - I hope you are feeling well?
Yet again, events have taken over here. A few days before we lost all our communications just over a week ago, I was talking to a friend here who is desperate to move back to the UK. She had already arranged to go back, despite not having sold her house, which has been with five estate agents here since February with no viewings at all. The agents here are not as pro-active as they are in the UK. I knew about a free-ads type of website that people here rave about, so I suggested she put the house on it and, in fact, I even put the ad on for her on the Saturday. Three days later she had an offer and yesterday she signed the relevant papers; she's off to the UK tomorrow! It has all happened so fast that it has taken us all by surprise, and it has been a mad few days. We are off to help her this afternoon - it will be very sad to see her go, but we will visit her on our trips back home. She's been a very good friend to us, and deserves a break, and I'm so pleased that she is going back knowing that the house is sold. She will be coming back over at the end of September to collect her furniture, so we will see her again then. We've heard many stories of houses here being on the market for years with agents, but selling within weeks on the free-ads site. Here, the buyers have to pay the estate agents fees, which can be as much as 8% of the purchase price; on the free-ads site, there are no fees at all, and it's free to advertise, so I think that more and more properties will be sold that way.
Anyway, that's what has been taking up a lot of my time this week. I have loads to do in the house, and for work, and I really want to catch up with the thread. I'll try and get the update done this morning.
After a few gloomy days, the weather has really picked up. The lawns have grown like mad; DH was mowing yesterday and had a little friend for company - the farmer's gorgeous border collie puppy who has taken to visiting every afternoon for a bowl of water and some cat nibbles! She's a lovely friendly dog whose tail never stops wagging. She and her mum race around the farmer's fields at ninety miles an hour and provide some wonderful entertainment!
Well, I'll catch up with you all later on.

Morning all! Day 2 of sick leave today...didnt have a great nights sleep as couldnt settle; was going to quilt show tom but decided against it. Im going to make my 2nd by hand after consulting goddaughter and giving her the choice of machine sewn this year or handsewn next year and shes gone for handsewn so will be busy cutting and sewing! Shes seen the design and her reaction was apparently "wow" so on to a winner me thinks! Going with this one;

isom, (((hugs))) hope you feeling better soon, yes i was aching after the class, but had a lovely aromatherapy massage this morning, which soothed all the aches away. got a lady from cats protection to assess me and my home on sunday, so fingers crossed all goes well.
kathy, sorry your friends are leaving, but really nice that you will keep in touch.
received an angelbear pattern in post this morning from maureen over at LH, so going to be starting them this evening. no idea how to do the loopy ears tho, so they may end up at headquarters wanting finishing off.
hugs all

ISOM - very confused (happens all too easily I know). Have 4 squares for recent project you suggested, are you saying that you already have enough for it? If so why would Chalky want them? Especially as she is in USA? Sorry if being really thick, really not thinking straight today I know.
Absolutely shattered today.
Yesterday accompanied friednd with Lupus and other probs on train journey to specialist Manchester hospital for examination and tests. 1.30pm appointment so we set off at 8.15am to catch the train. We got there to find out that some secretary had sent a letter with the wrong appointment details on it - right Dr but wrong clinic on the wrong day in the wrong part of the hospital so seemingly no accesss to specialist kit required. No apology or anything. We got home again at 7.30pm, barely able to speak for exhaustion.
Today I woke up feeling as if I'd been on one of those military boot camp days - as though I'd done huge amounts of exercise yesterday - as I ache all over on top of my usual pain. Actually all I did was sit in a taxi, on a train, on a platform and in a waiting room.
We're both so destroyed by the whole thing that we won't even be able to complain.0 -
oh dear seakay; how awful. Re squares the project is done so squares that came in after it was finished will be sent on to chalky for next kiss the geezers project when she returns! Hope that explains all!
socky how exciting!! I just couldnt be without a cat and ours is adored! Shes just been eating tinfoil and sniffing friend and baby. Her hubby is a computer geek and installed my printer in minutes! unlike me who just got cross and wanted to throw it accross the room!
On to do some quilt! Am going to handstitch the top as machining was a huge faff...much easier in lap!. hugs all!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0
